Ever wondered what the world looks like from an eagle’s perspective? At the Adlerhorst, you’ll come impressively close.

Located just a few steps from the Alpjoch mountain station, the Adlerhorst is easy to reach even for less experienced hikers. The platform rises 8 metres above the

Climbing, Boulder- ing & Via Ferratas
Whether on real rock outdoors or plastic holds in the climbing hall – it’s all action on the indoor and outdoor climbing crags, rock faces and via ferratas. Find out more about climbing at www.imst.at/en/holiday-experiences/summer/climbing
Climbing Areas
In Austria it is said that happiness on Earth is found on the walls of our mountains. That’s at least the motto in our climbing regions.
The Outdoor Region Imst has long made a name for itself as a top spot on the climbing scene. With nearly 3,000 routes in all levels of difficulty, one of the tallest climbing halls in Austria, an impressive outdoor climbing tower and several bouldering gyms, the region offers an incredible range of options for beginners, hobby climbers and pros alike.
Via Ferratas
Via ferratas are the perfect introduction to the world of alpine adventure.
Leite Via Ferrata
Located in Nassereith, this sporty C/D-level route offers a real challenge.
Imst Via Ferrata
A D-level climbing experience to the summit of the Maldonkopf, featuring a rope bridge and a variety of footholds and iron steps. Long ascent and descent – a full-day tour.
Waterfall Via Ferrata
A short route near the Muttekopf Hut with B/C sections, suitable for families and beginners.
Hanauer Via Ferrata
A fantastic via ferrata near the hut with a long rope bridge and two route variants. The easier option ends just below the Hanauer Hut.
Alpine Climbing
Straight up instead of straight ahead. If you want to expand your horizons into the heights, alpine rock faces are where you need to be.
Muttekopf Area
Four times the alpine climbing fun awaits on the multi-pitch routes at Guggerköpfle, Engelkarturm, Hintere Platteinspitze and the Muttetürme. Challenging climbs lead over slabs, cracks and overhangs,
in some cases reaching more than 2,700 m in elevation. The bolts are spaced far apart, and the conditions can be harsh – so this isn’t for casual climbers. Alpine climbing in the Muttekopf area demands experience and advanced skills.

Tourismus: Martin Lugger
Bouldering
In the Outdoor Region Imst, you’re surrounded by natural rock walls. Two bouldering areas are Hualig Almeck and Reithle.
Hualig Almeck
Hualig Almeck offers 15 lines ranging in difficulty from grades 5 to 8. To reach the boulders, take the Imst Mountain Lifts to the Untermarkter Alm, then follow the forest road downhill for 10 minutes.
Reithle
Just a 15-minute walk away lies the next climbing and bouldering area. The boulders at Reithle rise up to 15 metres high and are scattered through a shady forest. Difficulties also range from grades 5 to 8. There are 33 routes across 11 boulders, and the best time to boulder here is between May and October.
INFO
Free crash pads are available to borrow at the Untermarkter Alm for all bouldering enthusiasts.

Imst Climbing Centre
A top destination for climbers of all levels. With its impressive, covered climbing facility – the Sonnendeck – it boasts one of the largest outdoor climbing areas with a roof worldwide, covering 1,312 m².
Indoors, the centre features a wide variety of top-rope and lead routes ranging from 8 to 22 metres in height, 250 m² of bouldering space, a dedicated children’s area and a training section for ambitious climbers. From toddlers and beginners to seasoned pros, everyone can find their place at the Imst
Climbing Centre. Watch the action up close from the free-hanging balcony inside or the sunny grandstand outside.
After your session, the Sportcafé invites you to refresh with drinks and small snacks.

Surrounded by the stunning mountain backdrop of the Outdoor Region Imst, you’ll find endless ways to get your run in. Running and Nordic walking trails wind their way through the entire region, leading
to beautiful spots and scenic viewpoints. If you’re heading out for an orienteering adventure, be sure to pack a map and compass – you’ll need them to find all the checkpoints hidden in the cool forest.
Trail Running
Sometimes it pays to get off-track. Let your body and mind run free.
A trail is the most natural running track in the world. Trail running begins where the asphalt ends – far from paved and prepared routes. Unlike road running, the varied terrain sharpens your coordination and reaction time. The mountains of Tyrol offer excellent conditions for both newcomers and seasoned trail runners.
Highlights
The Outdoor Region Imst regularly hosts trail running events that are highly regarded within the trail running community. Their unique energy, distinct character and extreme conditions make them truly exceptional challenges.
Visit www.imst.at to learn more about running, walking, orienteering and trail running.
Rafting
Whether you’re brand new or have braved every rapid, the Outdoor Region Imst is Europe’s ultimate rafting hotspot.

Every tour is rough and wild. If you’ve never stood by a riverbank, adrenaline flooding your body from head to toe while Born to Be Wild plays in your mind – you’ve been missing out. Luckily, that opportunity awaits you in the Outdoor Region Imst. Certified guides will put you in a wetsuit and take the plunge
with you into icy alpine rapids. With every paddle stroke, fear gives way to spray, and after just a few metres in the raft, it’s no longer the waves that overwhelm you – it’s the thrill of the sport. What starts with hesitation becomes a breathtaking experience you’ll be talking about for a long time.
INFO

TIP:

Canyoning
It’s all in the mix! Canyoning means climbing, hiking, abseiling – and wonder.

Canyoning is understood as the descent through a gorge from top to bottom. That’s why it’s sometimes called “gorge hiking” or “gorge trekking”. So far, so good – but if you’ve ever leapt into a natural rock pool or abseiled into a roaring canyon, you’ll know there’s more to it. More action. More wow
moments. More adventure. If you’re ready for more, let the canyoning guides take you deep into the region’s wild mountain streams and rivers. This unforgettable whitewater experience is open to everyone – from brave beginners to bold adrenaline seekers.

tile with blobbing, cannonball jumps and the slip-and-slide water ramp.

Indoor Bike Park
A 1,000 m² pump park including a dedicated kids’ pump track. Austria’s largest indoor bike park features two dirty flowlines, a jumpline with two roll-in options and a landing bag, plus a skills area with root mats, a rock garden, drops and perfectly shaped switchbacks.

IMSTHIGHLIGHT CARD
Swimming & Water
Free admission with the IMST CARD
If you’re in the mood for a proper swim, you’ve got two options: splash about in the lively outdoor pool or dive into refreshingly natural, chlorine-free lakes.
Imst Outdoor
Swimming Pool
When was the last time you dared to jump into cold water? And by cold, we mean 25°C. The lap pool, leisure pool and kids’ pool at the Imst Outdoor Pool are all kept at a constant temperature, making every dip a real pleasure. The biggest highlight for young swimmers – and those who are still young at heart – is hard to miss: the twisting giant slide. It stands almost 8 metres tall and stretches an impressive 80 metres. Its sidekick, the wide water slide, measures nearly 12 metres in length and 3 metres across. For landlubbers, there’s also
a volleyball court and table tennis table. And if the kids start turning blue from too much splashing, send them off to burn some energy on the large playground, complete with a shaded sandpit.

TIP:
Stretch out on the large sunbathing lawn or relax in the beautifully landscaped park. And if you suddenly find yourself craving a fresh coffee or something hot off the grill, just follow your nose to the well-stocked poolside buffet.

Hoch-Imst Natural Lake
Just a stone’s throw from the valley station of the Imst Mountain Lifts lies the Hoch-Imst natural lake. This idyllic spot is bathed in sunshine all day and boasts pleasant temperatures and extremely clean water that is safe to drink.
Fernsteinsee & Samerangersee
The best way to explore Fernsteinsee is by boat – depending on the weather, the mountain lake can be so clear you can see right down to the bottom. Right next door is Samerangersee, considered one of Austria’s most beautiful diving lakes.
Starkenberger See
Green leaves reflect on the lake’s still surface, giving it a wild and romantic charm. Shaded by the forest, the area stays deliciously cool – perfect for walks and recharging in nature. Just around the corner you’ll find Starkenberg Castle and the Schlossstube restaurant, where you can treat yourself to refreshing delights out on the sunny terrace.

Kneipping
Getting cold feet is exactly what you need after a long hike or bike ride to get your circulation going again.
Step into the footsteps of the Romans and enjoy a Kneipp session at the former Roman bath in Roppen. Thanks to its unique mineral content, the water at the “Römerbad” is said to have a healing and revitalising effect. In Tarrenz, the “Frauenbrunnen” spring contains radon, which is known for its skin-soothing benefits. The Kneipp facility lies right beside the Gurgltal cycle path and is hard to miss, with its elegant fountains, basins and footbaths made from natural wood. In the neighbouring village of
Nassereith, the “Mühlsprung” is the perfect place to get your circulation going again on a hot summer’s day – with a refreshing arm bath or a lap through the idyllically located Kneipp pool, right in the heart of nature.
INFO
There’s more to Kneipping than just stepping into cold water. Follow the instructions on the signs at each Kneipp facility to get the full benefit and give your circulation a lasting boost.

Playgrounds in the Region
Kids have plenty of space to run, climb and play on the many playgrounds across the region. Here, sandpit friendships are made and adventures come to life.
Where adults see swings, sandpits and wooden huts, children see magical worlds waiting to be explored. New playmates are quickly found, and together they dive into colourful worlds of imagination.
Climbing frames become castles, and the adventure begins. To set the perfect stage for these big little adventures, the Outdoor Region Imst offers a wide variety of playgrounds and adventure areas.

Art, Culture & History
When art is given room to thrive, culture flourishes. The Outdoor Region Imst is home to remarkable museums, living traditions and deep-rooted customs.

Exhibitions, festivals, street art – art and culture are a valuable part of what makes the Outdoor Region Imst so special.
Whether cultural treasures are being displayed in museums, new movements explored through exhibitions, or events celebrated loud and bold – it all adds up to a truly fascinating experience. Numerous institutions – including museums and galleries – along with a vibrant creative scene, ensure that both heart and mind are moved through art and culture. The legendary Fasnacht tradition is celebrated year-round in dedicated Fasnacht museums – so vividly, in fact, that you might feel like you’ve stepped
right into one of the famous carnival parades, complete with masked figures and bell-wearing characters in full costume. In the museums of the Outdoor Region Imst, you can travel back in time to experience post-war farming, 17th-century woodworking and textile craftsmanship, and many other captivating stories up close. The Outdoor Region Imst is impressively diverse – and that richness has earned it a strong reputation among lovers of art and culture.
