Many different types of mangoes are exported from India, each with a distinct flavour and texture. The most popular varieties include the Alphonso, Kesar, and Totapuri mangos.

One of the most sought-after mangoes in the world is the Alphonso mango. It is known for its sweetness, richness, and creaminess. The fruit is originally from the Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra and is named after Afonso de Albuquerque, a Portuguese general who helped establish Portuguese rule in India.

The Kesar mango is another popular variety exported from India. It originates from Gujarat and gets its name from its saffron-like colour. The fruit is smaller than the Alphonso and has softer flesh with a delicate flavour.

The Totapuri mango is one of the most common varieties found in India. It is large and oval-shaped with a pointed end. The skin is greenish-yellow with red or orange spots when ripe. The flesh inside is yellowish-orange with a fibrous texture. This type of mango is used mainly for making pickles and juices as it is less sweet than other varieties.
