“Treat yo’self”. That was my motto for many years. I thrived on the notion that I could do whatever I wanted for the sake of “self-love”. Doing something that would benefit my personal desires empowered me. It made me feel untouchable. And society would applaud it.

Everywhere you look, women are being encouraged to practice self-care. And rightly so. We’re pretty busy in life getting things done, building up dreams, and taking over the world. But nowadays, self-love has gone from something we need to something that’s trendy and popular. We’ve taken self-love as something that should be treated as an ongoing practice to one’s lifestyle and began to glorify the thoughts and actions of placing ourselves and our needs above everything and everyone. Including Jesus.
