WELCOME WELCOME

Varsity’s back! Join us as Imperial’s finest athletes from IC and ICSM face off, spanning a broad spectrum of sports from hockey to rugby, waterpolo to indoor cricket. The competition culminates in the eagerly anticipated headliners: Volleyball at Ethos on Friday and Women’s Football at Harlington on Saturday.

Prepare yourself for two incredible days packed with great sports, good food, and drinks, all bringing us together. We’re crossing our fingers for sunny skies to match our excitement and the top-notch competition!

To the athletes, give it your all. To the supporters, your cheers make all the difference. Let’s make this Varsity one for the history books. May the best teams win – and while history has a story to tell, let’s just say, at IC, we’re used to writing the winning chapters.

The Imperial Varsity is back for 2024! The most anticipated matches of the season for so many clubs and teams, this year ICSM look to take the victory.

We will see some fierce rivalries between our Ethos & Harlington sports and we can’t wait to see some top-level competition, ending the last day supporting Women’s Football - our Harlington headliners.

I hope you’re all excited for an incredible two days packed with food, drinks and sports, and if everything goes well we’ll have clear skies and sun alongside. We know that medics have the best support so let’s show IC what we’re made of!

Best of luck to all the participants, let’s show IC what us medics can do!

ETHOS HEADLINER VOLLEYBALL

Get ready for Volleyball to bring some of the most exciting matches in 2024 Varsity. As our first year participating and headlining, we are elevating the excitement by splitting our three powerhouse teams into IC and ICSM counterparts, guaranteeing nail-biting matches that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The rivalry is intense, and the competition is fierce as these teams battle it out for the Varsity title.

Our teams have been on a winning spree this year, and the achievements speak for themselves. The men’s team who play in the BUCS Premier league recently made history by clinching the student cup title for the first time in ICVC history. Meanwhile, the women’s team emerged victorious in the Division 1 BUCS and are currently fighting to be promoted to the Premier Division. As for the mixed team, they are dominating the LUSL premier league, showcasing the incredible skill and teamwork that defines our volleyball program.

One of the most remarkable aspects of our volleyball club is the consistent addition of new members eager to learn and compete. Our welcoming and inclusive community fosters a love for the sport, and we want to share that with the rest of the athletic community at Imperial. Whether you’re an experienced volleyball player or a curious newcomer, we invite you to witness the thrilling spectacle of the volleyball Varsity match. Don’t miss out on this thrilling match – see you on court!

HARLINGTON HEADLINER

As the Club Captain of ICWFC, I’m really excited that we’ve been chosen to be the headliners at this year’s biggest sports event, Varsity, for the first time in the club’s history. This shows how much our club has grown over the last few years, going from barely two teams a few years ago, to four teams this year, with around 100 members. Every year, our club welcomes dozens of freshers, from complete beginners to advanced players, highlighting our welcoming environment for anyone interested in football, regardless of their experience.

We are also known to be one of the most social clubs at Imperial evident by our big turnout every sports night, our iconic themed socials and our regular visits to the Emirates, Stamford bridge or Wembley to support our favourite teams.

Our first team, an Imperial Performance Team, competes in Tier 1, showcasing football at an exceptionally high and competitive level. To foster a more competitive and fair atmosphere, we have made the decision for the past two years to have our second team represent us at Varsity against the Medics. Proudly sitting atop their league, with 6 out of 7 wins so far, 6 clean sheets, 49 goals scored and only 3 conceded, our 2s are determined to secure a well-deserved promotion. They are looking forward to triumphing over the Medics for the second consecutive year, alongside their BUCS title win. With the support of our entire club from the sidelines, their Varsity win is certain. Not only will we dominate on the pitch, the entire club will carry our victory celebration to the dance floor, like we always do, making it the must-attend afterparty of the year.

We are looking forward to seeing women’s football continuously grow over the years, for both our club and the Medics’, and are hoping to eventually have a Varsity for each of our teams one day. But for now, Medics’ beware, ICWFC 2s are coming for you!

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL

IMWFC are back for another Varsity, and we could not be more excited, an anticipation which will be mirrored on the pitch in our pursuit for the title.

This season has been a defining season in the club’s history. We have grown and are now back and better than ever, with a strong season behind us and a promising Varsity ahead of us.

After gaining a lot of new members, our team have gone on to play some incredible football in BUCS and achieve some much-deserved wins. IMWFC is a vibrant community with a contagious passion for the game, and players who are nothing less but a sheer force on the field. After weeks of training and preparation, we are ready to take the Varsity title home to Reynolds, where it belongs.

At this year’s headliner, you should expect a game of football that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Expect nothing less than fierce tackles, a strong attack, and an impenetrable defence. We’re here to play some passionate football and claim our title back from IC.

So, come along to watch the sport that everyone has grown up with, a sport of emotion that unites people, that everyone loves, and cheer for the better team, the team that everyone loves, Imperial Medics Women’s Football.
