LEWS CASTLE
AN ICONIC VENUE ON THE SPECTACULAR ISLE OF LEWIS
Steeped in history, the iconic Lews Castle has been a centre of activity and intrigue since the early 19th century. Overlooking Stornoway harbour, the impressive gothic revival style castle was built in the mid 1800’s by Sir James Matheson, a rich merchant who also developed the surrounding area into picturesque woodlands. Since then this beautiful building has also served as a hospital during the Second World War, a college and a school; and now as an iconic wedding venue and luxurious holiday destination.
Voted the #1 European Island to visit by TripAdvisor in 2014, it’s not difficult to see why the Isle of Lewis consistently receives so much acclaim.
From beaches and crystal clear waters that rival the most beautiful islands, to its rich history and stunning scenery, this remote and utterly spectacular destination in the Outer Hebrides is the perfect venue for wedding celebrations and wonderful memories.

HIRING OUR SPACE

Our spacious rooms in Lews Castle offer the perfect place for both ceremonies and receptions. Filled with natural light, the venue is rich in culture and history with grandeur perfectly suited to such a special occasion. There are a choice of four rooms to suit your party size and the entire space is also available for hire on an exclusive basis*.
FLOORPLAN
Should you wish to make a provisional booking, we are happy to hold your preferred date without obligation for 7 days. To confirm your booking, we require a signed contract along with a deposit, which includes 25% of the accommodation value plus 100% of all room hire. A further deposit of 50% of the remaining balance is required 10 months prior to the date of the event, with a final payment due no later than 28 days before the event.
*Please note, the public are granted access to public areas during the day e.g. The Storehouse Cafe & Star-Lined Corridor.
HIRING OUR SPACE
Room hire rates include use of the room, with music playing until 00:30 hours. The venue must be vacated by non-residents of the Castle by 01:00 hours.
The Castle is licensed for civil ceremonies so you can hold your full day at this magnificent location. To hold your civil ceremony at the Castle in addition to a wedding breakfast and evening reception, please enquire for room prices.
To hold your wedding ceremony at the Castle before a reception elsewhere, additional charges would apply. Please speak with our Events Specialist for further information.

Accommodation at Lews Castle is made up of a selection of luxury self-catering apartments and en-suite bedrooms. They range in size to accommodate up to 6 guests in 1-3 bedrooms, with 3 gradings of luxury that include ‘Standard, Deluxe & Superior’. All of the apartments benefit from spacious living, kitchen and dining areas which are fully-equipped and inclusive of high quality facilities. To arrange accommodation, please contact our Events Specialist who will be happy to discuss your requirements.
*Please note that accommodation can only be booked on a minimum 2-night stay basis for all units, which are individually priced and configured, due to the unique layout of the castle.
