UNCONFINED BY CONVENTION
JamFactory alumnus and Japan-based furniture designer Liam Mugavin of Studio Liam Mugavin, presents his debut solo show Unconfined by Convention at Criteria Collection. In this exhibition, Mugavin explores cultural and design narratives related to home and domesticity through his collection of unique chairs that draw upon traditional Japanese aesthetics. The chairs are crafted out of reclaimed timber sourced from demolished Australian heritage homes and the use of these materials, combined with a distinct Japanese influence, speaks of Mugavin’s design philosophy.
