■ 4-ply (fngering) weight yarn, 50g in cream x 1 ball – A small amount of turquoise – B small amount of violet – C small amount of grey – D ■ 2 stitch markers ■ Stitch holder ■ 3mm (UK 11, US 2) double-pointed needles (DPNs) or circular needle ■ Tapestry needle

■ To ft 0-3 (3-6: 6-12) months

Tension

■ 32 sts and 36 rows to 10cm (4in) over Fair isle pattern using 3mm (UK 11, US 2) needles

Beg and ending rows as indicated and repeating the 61 row patt repeat throughout, using intarsia and Fair Isle techniques, cont in patt from chart as folls: Work straight until back meas 16 (17: 19: 20) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape armholes Keeping patt correct, cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 69 (73: 77: 81) sts Dec 1 st at each end of next 3 rows.

63 (67: 71: 75) sts Noting that on second rep of chart RS rows will become WS rows and vice versa, cont in patt until armhole meas 14 (15: 15: 16) cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape shoulders and back neck Next row (RS) Cast off 9 (10: 10: 11) sts, patt until 10 (11: 12: 13) sts rem on right needle and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder.

Work each side of neck separately.

Dec 1 st at beg of next row.

Cast off rem 9 (10: 11: 12) sts.

With RS facing, rejoin yarns to rem sts, cast off centre 25 (25: 27: 27) sts, patt to end.
