Syndicates The Trainer - GREGORY HICKMAN Multiple Group 1 Winner

Greg Hickman has been well described as one of Australia's quintessential horse trainers. He is a man who genuinely loves horses.

Greg is fanatical about his work and loves owners to be engaged. He encourages owners to be intimately involved in the progress and preparation of their thoroughbreds.

Greg worked at the highly successful Crown Lodge operation for 9 years.

Greg notes: "I cannot begin to tell you how much I learned in nine years at Crown Lodge, at first from Vic Thompson Snr, Peter Snowden and later from John Hawkes."

Greg has developed his own stables and boutique operation at Warwick Farm, building an impressive training record of over 360 winners including 9 Group races! His latest million dollar earner and big race win came when Private Secretary stormed home from last to first to win the $970,000 Magic Millions Fillies and Mares, a win that truly has to be seen to be believed.

Greg’s stable location is also strategically placed at Warwick Farm a stones throw away from Inglis’s Riverside Stables, a luxury lifestyle development.

racing life of the race horse. We entrust this responsibility with Greg Nash.

Greg has been a veterinarian in the equine industry for over 40 years.

Greg was soon recognised for both the quality of his work, keen eye and professionalism. This has led to Greg taking up active roles in organisations, being a previous president of The Australian Equine Veterinary Association.

Greg runs the Randwick Equine Centre Yearling Repository & Sales Radiography team and attends all the major yearling sales in Australia and New Zealand.

Greg also an official Sydney Turf Club veterinarian and works onsite at Rosehill race events.

The Breaker - LUKE THOMAS The Horse Whisperer Luke Thomas breaks in all our yearlings as well as re-education work for any horses with behavioural problems. Luke’s credentials really speak for themselves which include having broken in the champion 2yo colt of 2017 The Mission and now a very valuable stallion commodity. He also broke in recent Grp 2 winner Diddums.

Horse Breaking is fundamental to a horses’ racecourse success. Breaking in a thoroughbred encompasses getting a yearling to accept the, bridle and headstall, a saddle and girth, the weight of a rider and further onto learning to be steered and respond to a rider’s aids. From there its onto a small training track and building a foundation jogging before moving on to galloping. Gate training and getting used to the pony horse also become part of the training process.

This requires great skill, patience and courage. It also requires the right environment, which Luke’s property in the valley of Glendonbrook is perfect; including 100’s of acres of long bush riding tracks perfect to quiet down even the strongest willed young horse.
