Limited commenced building home additions in 1963 and now over 49 years later, is firmly established as one of Sydney's leading residential addition builders. The Company holds a current Builders' Licence in New South Wales and is a member of both the Master Builders' Association (MBA) and the Housing Industry Association (HIA). Home additions are created in a professional manner to meet our clients' needs. The invaluable experience gained is continually being adjusted to accommodate the latest proven building methods, technology and new materials. Our success is based on a determination to give personal service to our clients and to pass on the benefits of over forty years' experience in providing Quality home improvements. We are also committed in meeting and implementing the requirements of the AS/NZS-ISO 9002 Quality System. We provide "True To Cost" estimates with fixed price contracts and guarantee that our clients receive quality workmanship. Work undertaken is completed within a nominated time frame with as little inconvenience as possible.

About Wal Robbins Additions

ABOUT WAL ROBBINS ADDITIONS The Wal Robbins Story Back in 1963 Wallace E Robbins started his own Building Company. Working out of his home office in Fairfield Heights, he designed and constructed small home additions and garages as a sole trader, assisted by his wife Daphne and a small band of tradesmen. The growth of the business necessitated a move to commercial premises at Fairfield Heights in 1969. In 1970 Wal Robbins & Company Pty. Ltd. was formed and enjoyed great success specialising in additions for a variety of clientele, including Defence Service home extensions. Ray Fielder (a nephew of Daphne and Wal) joined the business in August 1971 to assist with the management of the ever-increasing workload. Tragedy struck in December of the same year, when Wal died suddenly of a heart attack. This left the Company in Ray's control. The following year the Builders' Licencing Board was formed. This governmental regulatory Board was set up to protect consumers from shoddy and incompetent builders. Licences were granted to builders with sufficient qualifications, ability, experience and sound financial management. Wal Robbins & Company Pty. Ltd. was issued with Licence number 4403. Ever expanding to accommodate the demand for quality home improvements, the Company constructed all types of additions and alterations over the years - always and only improving family homes. We specialise in the design and construction of, Ground floor extensions First floor additions Major internal alterations and renovations Brick veneering and remodelling With the resignation and retirement of Ray's Aunt and co-director Daphne Robbins in 1998, the business was reformed asÂ Wal RobbinsÂ Additions Pty. Ltd., retaining all our highly trained and vastly experienced staff and tradesmen. To comply with regulations, a new Licence was obtained - Licence number 96727c. Ray's leadership has instilled strong teamwork among the staff, management and tradesmen, who all constantly strive to exceed customer expectations.

THE WAL ROBBINS ADDITIONS TEAM Ray Fielder - Managing Director Ray has been heading the Company for over 40 years. His enthusiasm for the Home Additions Industry is evident to all who benefit from his advice and design concepts. Ray has served on several committees with the HIA and is currently with the NSW HIA Technical Committee.

Sondra Williams - ManagerÂ Client Relations Sondra has been with the Company for over 37 years, controlling the job approvals process, legal and contractual requirements and managing all progress payments. Sondra guides clients from the approval process right through construction to the issuing of the "Occupation Certificate."

Bali Reyes - Manager Operations Recently replacing Colin Nicholas, who retired after 33 years of devoted service. Bali is now responsible for material selection and quality as well as ensuring all site staff, tradesmen and contractors are appropriately trained and qualified. As our Safety Officer, Bali is also constantly upgrading site management to provide a safe environment for all tradesmen, our clients and their families.

John Harwood - Project Manager John started as a contract carpenter for Wal Robbins and Co Pty Ltd in 1977. John proved to be a natural leader and soon became foreman of our employed carpenters and apprentices.

As Supervisor, John's friendly and efficient nature ensures our "works in progress" achieve all quality, timing and budget objectives, while keeping our clients constantly informed and involved throughout construction.

John Bittar - Design Consultant John is a talented and passionate Home Improvement Designer and heads our Design team in providing unique solutions to our clients' needs. John has been designing additions of all styles for many years and promises to deliver the most appropriate plan to suit your home, budget and lifestyle.

Leigh Wiegold â€“ Building Supervisor Leigh joined our ranks in 2004 as a Supervisor, having spent many years in the specialised field of Home additions and renovations. Leigh is currently responsible for the more difficult projects that require full time supervision.

David Stephens â€“ Building Supervisor David joined us in 1998 as an apprentice Carpenter and has progressed through the ranks to Building Supervisor, mentored by our Project Manager John Harwood. Dave adds another dimension to our team with his specialised training and experience, further enhancing our policy of excellence in Client relationships during construction.

Ray and the Wal Robbns Additions team bring immense knowledge into our business and their years of loyal service and wealth of experience are greatly appreciated by all. Of course they are supported by their proud and hardworking staff and tradesmen who are all a credit to the Company.

Dear Ray, What a team!!! Maryanne and I just could not let the completion of our renovation pass without indicating our immense appreciation to you and your team for the magnificent job done. It seems so long ago since you first sat in our old dining room gently guiding us, providing ideas, alternate products and options to give us what we wanted in our new home. You built an air of credibility and professionalism for yourself and your company with your easy going manner, and your attention to detail, all of which gave us a great sense of confidence that we had made the right selection in choosing Wal Robbins Additions as our builder. Over the twelve months since that initial meeting, you and your team just kept on confirming that choice. Never once did we have cause to think or feel any other way. On a handshake, we were on our way with the structural alterations to the old kitchen – dining room to allow our kitchen contractor to do his installation. Then, two months later and three weeks prior to the appointed date, you asked if you could start the real thing… we were ecstatic! So, on the 14th January, we began to meet your team and experience “living” with them. From the care the scaffolders took in doing very minimal damage to our extensive garden through the constant updates and forecasts from John and then Bali (pandering to our every concern) to the friendly yet unobtrusive daily interaction with whoever was on site, but mainly Kev and Justin. It was so natural having them around, it was as if long term house guests had left us after they were finished with job. Scott in particular enjoyed this time. Then, at the agreed time, everything came together, almost magically…..and the job was finished, despite the breaking of the drought for almost the entire time we were without a roof! We must commend also your selection of subcontractors and suppliers. Our particular thanks go to Kara at Thrifty Discounts at Granville, John at Stronghold Wardrobes, the team from Kirrawee Stairs and Nigel of All Suburbs Guttering. We also wish to mention the professionalism of the tilers, George the gyprocker and Dave the electrician. Then there was Sondra, what a lovely lady? Made making the progress payments almost painless! Special mention must go to John Harwood and Bali Reyes. We started with John as our site supervisor, technically unsurpassed, ever the professional and great to deal with. Attention: Ray Fielder Just a short note to say thank you to you, Sondra at the office and all of the team that worked on our 1st floor addition, from John Harwood who was the Supervisor on our job, Bali and the rest of the boys that worked here and also not forgetting Trevor and his team of painters. HOME RENOVATION TESTIMONIAL 25 Ray and the team and Wal Robbins, I just wanted to let you all know just how much I appreciate the fabulous work at 23 Onyx. The renovations have exceeded expectations on all fronts - the workmanship and detail is superb and the team was a pleasure to deal with. I know I have sent a thank you note for the Christmas party where I noted the great fun we have had - but I wanted to follow up now that the job is almost complete and I am enjoying my new home. A home is something you spend and extraordinary amount of time in, it is where you have all your special celebrations and it will be where we watch Max grow up. I just can't express how much I appreciate the hard work that has transformed our little home into a beautiful living space which we love. The new bedrooms and bathroom are just what we wanted and the new back room and kitchen are just amazing - this is our favorite part of the renovation. I particularly want to thank Andrew and Nathan for their work -without walls, floors, windows, doors and a roof - I would be living in a tent at 23 Onyx Rd - so their contribution has been huge!! They are exceptional carpenters and in particular the floorboards, peak window and back deck are beautiful! So many other tradesmen I have had in have complimented their work as have all my friends and family. They were both incredibly thoughtful about the detail, to make it perfect. They were both a pleasure to deal with and extremely professional throughout - I can't thank them enough for their input on a home that I will enjoy for a long time. Also wanted to particularly pass on my thanks to Leigh who has done a great job managing the project - he has made a pretty stressful time (renovating while living with parents) - not very stressful at all! He has been a great communicator throughout the project and has ensured that things run as smoothly as possible. We had a few bumps because my house is so old and some things needed to be replaced or fixed but I was always confident in his decisions and the result is amazing. I had neighbours commenting on how there were people on site almost every day throughout the project - which I know this is due to how well the project was supervised. It is hard managing expectations of people who desperately want things finished yesterday and clearly don't have a clue what is involved - but Leigh always explained the steps involved, the time lines and the possible issues - I am grateful for this! I know that so many other people made home what it is - demolition, putting in the steel beam, sinking the piers, laying concrete, lighting, plumbing, tiling, gyprock, clean-up, bricklaying, tiling, aircon etc - please pass on my thanks to all involved! I hope I haven't left anyone out - it is not intentional. All the individuals involved on my renovations have contributed to make it happen and they are without exception - a great bunch of people!

Advances in the technology of windows and doors, including double glazing and energy-efficient glass and window frames, make today's renovated homes light and bright, without losing heat in winter or overheating in summer. Kitchens that work. With today's open layouts, the quality and the finishing details of a new kitchen are done with careful attention to matching or complementing the surrounding spaces. Get ahead by sorting your finances Rates may continue to rise throughout 2010, so with mortgage rates as low as they are (historically speaking), now is a good time to take stock of your financial situation. So if you are thinking about extending your property make doubly sure you can afford the repayments. Rather than concentrating on finding the best available interest rate in the current market and aiming for the maximum loan you can secure, it may be better to consider how your position might change once the variable rate increases several per cent. This mindset will help you weather any changes throughout the medium term. This is the most important concept to grasp â€“ maintaining a comfortable position. There will always be high-flying risk takers who love high-risk finance but for the majority, the best thing to do is make sure you will be in a comfortable position based on your income and expenses. A great first step would be to look at spending habits, and see if there is room for tightening the budget. You don't have to wait until you are stretched before you follow a strict budget. If you get into the habit, you might find you are far better off in the long run and will be able to handle more situations as a result. A big question for most people is whether to go for a fixed or variable rate. Depending on your situation, there are arguments for both. If you don't want any surprises and want to be able to allocate an amount in your budgeting each month, then perhaps a fixed rate will suit you. If however you would like to take a chance with the fluctuating economy, then a variable rate might suit you. At the end of the day however, the key is to visit a good broker and have your position assessed. A broker can tell you if you are eligible for a better rate either with your current lender or another Institution. It's beneficial to get rates from multiple lenders. The same principle no matter what you are buying - shop around and get the best deal!

HOME EXTENSION TESTIMONIAL 13 Dear Ray, My wife and I would like to thank you for building the extension to the back of our home. We are very pleased with the completed work and the manner in which it was undertaken. The children love the new rumpus room and the bathroom is of great use. All the workers and tradespeople associated with the work have done a great job. All were friendly and approachable. Anytime we asked a question they were quite happy to explain. The site supervisor, John Harwood, was always available to answer our queries and, in fact, said that we should not hesitate to refer any problems we may have to him. He frequently asked if we had any concerns and if we were happy with the work done. I have painted the room a light green and my six year old daughter has named it the "flower pot room." I'm sure the extra space will come in handy when they are older and bring their friends over. This is now our ideal home, just what we needed and most comfortable. While the workmanship is of high standard, the thing that really stood out about Wal Robbins is the attitude of the staff. From our first meeting with you to our many interactions with the various tradesmen who worked on our extension, we felt like we were treated with respect and courtesy at all times. There are a couple of people I would particularly like to mention. John Harwood, the site supervisor, pulled out all stops to achieve the result we wanted. There was not one occasion where John's word was not enough to assure us our requests and questions would be actioned. Also, Kevin (the carpenter) and his apprentice David were simply the nicest couple of blokes you could have working for you. They respected our household, treated my wife Lorraine with respect and created a terrific addition to our home. During the construction period, our friends asked us several times how things were going. They expected to hear the "usual" horror stories that seem to attach to most builder-owner relationships. I honestly had to tell them the image they described could not be further from the truth. For the most part, you would not have known that construction work was going on.
