The Mission of the International Museum of Art & Science is to create an environment that inspires, educates, and entertains the public through the arts and sciences. WELCOME! On behalf of the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) Board of Trustees, we’d like to welcome the many new members that joined the IMAS during our 50th anniversary year! It has been a very exciting time for the museum because it offers an opportunity to reflect upon 50 years of exhibits, educational programs and cultural events that continue to inspire a passion for learning in our community. It give us an opportunity to appreciate the history of the museum, the key organizations that helped start the museum, the generous individuals who have continually assisted in the growth of our museum, the community within which we have grown, and the city which has assisted us in reaching our current position. We now engage over 70,000 visitors annually, of which about 30,000 are school-children! IMAS remains steadfastly committed to offering engaging art and science exhibits that nurture the intellectual, creative life of our community. In support of the museum’s mission to create environments that inspire, educate and entertain the public through the arts and sciences, we are proud to announce that, thanks to many generous donations and fundraising campaigns, the museum is preparing to build a 3D cinema in the Children’s Discovery Pavilion where museum visitors and school groups will be able to enjoy immersive films on STEAM topics that evolve around natural history, space science technology, culture, engineering and math. At this time, we are also pleased to be presenting The Fifth Mexican Shinzaburo Takeda Biennial of Printmaking on view now at the IMAS from December 2, 2017 to February 18, 2018. This outstanding exhibit supports our international arts program and is made possible thanks to the gracious sponsorship of Kirk and Jeri Clark, Clark Chevrolet and Clark Knapp Honda. As we enter 2018, I’d like to extend a note of warm thanks and gratitude to our outgoing Board of Trustees Vice Chair, Carlos Melguizo who served on the IMAS board for 6 consecutive years. His creative passion and love the for our community continues to have a significant positive impact on the quality of programs being presented at the IMAS. The Collage Gala has forever been elevated to a new artistic experience! Also, I’d like to thank our fearless and most generous outgoing Board Chair, Laura Warren Ogletree for her constant support and vitality towards continually expanding our service to the community. Laura is always giving of her time and talent generously, and we could not have wished for a more nurturing and visionary leader. Last month, in the spirit of rotation, the Board of Trustees elected Jeri Clark as Board Chair; Eryn Reddell Wingert as Vice Chair; Beth Brown as Secretary; Ernesto Sepulveda as Treasurer as well as new trustees: Dr. Katherine McAllen, Juan Garcia and Julia Collins. Our Board and staff are committed to serving our community and we look forward to a great new year ahead. On behalf of the entire IMAS personnel, we look forward to seeing you at the museum. We wish everyone a happy holiday and joyous new year ahead. Sincerely, Serena Pandos, MAAA Interim President
