Celebrating Over 14 Years of the Big Blue Blocks It’s a common story: Children often are more engaged with the wrapping paper and boxes than the present inside. Over a decade ago, that idea inspired award-winning architect, David Rockwell, to conceive, design, and patent Imagination Playground, a large scale “loose parts” block system. Now, 10 years after they were introduced to the community, the signature Big Blue Blocks have gained recognition and popularity. With more than 7,000 customers, Imagination Playground is delighting families, educators, and millions of children worldwide. The Imagination Playground Big Blue Block experience encourages unstructured, child-directed free play – the kind of play that experts say is critical to a child’s intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development. The Blocks have become a beloved central feature for free play in museums, schools, parks, libraries, and communities everywhere. Since their introduction in 2009, each and every Big Blue Block has been handcrafted in the USA in our manufacturing plant in Providence, Rhode Island. Our Big Blue Blocks are made from a custom formulation, designed specially to withstand heavy use, and our Blocks are tested to the highest standards for safety. Our Big Blue Blocks have withstood the test of time – in fact, many of our original blocks are still in service after 10 years of play. At Eco Global, we are proud of our B-Corps status, which certififies the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability. We continue to champion the creative spirit of Mr. Rockwell, while also using our USA manufacturing to have a lasting positive impact in our local, regional, and global community. With a vision for the next 10 years on the horizon, we are investing in new designs, and production capacity to meet the growing demand for the Blue Blocks. OUR BLOCKS ARE MADE IN THE USA
About Imagination Playground “There’s growing evidence that playing with blocks helps young kids develop the skills needed for careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).” - Dan Puglisi, FirstThingsFirst.org Play is the primary means through which young children develop. When allowed to direct and conduct their own play, children may broaden their experiences, increase their levels of imagination, expand their linguistic abilities, exercise their physical and mental strength, and improve their dexterity. Imagination Playground Blue Blocks™ are a set of foam loose parts that provide a cost effective way for children to engage in open-ended, free play. In contrast to traditional hardscape playgrounds, the large-scale Blocks require no installation and are ready to be implemented immediately. Loose parts play like Imagination Playground provides the opportunity to develop and practice the 4 C’s of STEM - Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking. The Blue Blocks come in three different sizes - Big, Medium, and tabletop Smalls. The Blocks are available in dozens of different shapes and set configurations, all in a vibrant shade of Blue. Imagination Playground Blocks are made from closed cell waterproof foam, and are resistant to mold, mildew, corrosion, and microorganisms. These highly durable parts are suitable for ages 2 and up, and can be used indoors or outdoors on a variety of surfaces.

The Angles up the ante in complexity as the children construct and play. These shapes prompt children to consider balance, asymmetry, positive and negative space, and to think ahead as they build. The new shapes also prompt more nuanced thinking—with more smallscale parts that allow for props, accents, furniture, and object-scale inventions. Through trial and error, children also learn to work with irregularity and parts that don’t easily fit together.
