2023 IP Fall/Winter Lookbook

Since the 1930s, Gallup has conducted a poll every year that asks Americans, “Do you approve or disapprove of labor unions?”. In 1936, that number was 72%. That number remained in the 60-70% range for nearly four decades, reaching a high-water mark of 75% in 1957. In a very general sense, it appeared we were a country that understood and appreciated the value that a labor union can bring to the average worker and their family. From there, powerful political and economic interests aligned against the labor movement, and this approval measure started a steady decline, eventually falling as low as 48% in 2009, when for the first time less than half of American families were supportive of unions. And over that same time period, union membership as a percentage of the American workforce declined, income inequality spiked, and - near and dear to our hearts - the percentage of Americanmade clothing worn by Americans went from virtually all to 2%. For those who still cared about and supported what unions represent and do for their members, it appeared the battle was being lost.

And then, it wasn’t. 71%. Last year, 71% of Americans reported that they were supportive of labor unions, the highest result on record since 1965. And we see it all around us, from the SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood to the Teamsters victory for UPS workers and their families, to the battle to unionize Starbucks, Amazon, and Google. The evidence of this support is all around us. And more importantly than that, the hard work that has been happening in the trenches for decades is producing fruit and gaining momentum.

2022, Caleb served our country in the Marines for 4 years as an Artilleryman with the 1st Marine Division. He then transitioned to the Army, serving an additional 8 years with the 101st Airborne as an Infantryman and Intelligence Analyst with the 501st MIB and USCENTCOM, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. Having grown up overseas, Caleb is fluent in cross-cultural communication and multicultural work environments. In his current role, he focuses on ongoing reporting and process creation to support operations and ensure quality and efficiency.

Sewing Line Lead

Say Eh Paw is originally from Burma and spent several years in Thailand before joining much of her family in the United States about 8 years ago. She speaks multiple languages and does a great job of welcoming new team members. She enjoys EVERYTHING about DA but especially loves the opportunity to learn, grow, and help people. Outside of sewing, she likes hiking, cooking with family, and spending time outdoors.

Always up for a new challenge, Rocky joined the DA Team in early 2023. He brings a strong attention to detail, having cut his teeth in manufacturing by inspecting machine and sheet metal parts to be within .008” tolerance. He enjoys the process of perfecting the size of each piece of each garment and ensuring that new patterns fit together “just right”. A true learner, his favorite DA activity so far was being taught to make egg rolls for a crowd at our all staff “Dignity Apparel Baking Experience.”

Sewing Line Lead

Soe Reh is the newest member of the Sewing Lead Team, joining DA in April 2023. Having worked in commercial sewing in Thailand before coming to the United States in 2012, he is not only an excellent sewer but also troubleshoots mechanic issues with equipment. His manager describes him as “calm, nice, and smart” and his favorite part of DA is the people. He loves spending time with his wife and 3 kids, shopping and meeting up with friends.

Mae Moe is one of the original members of the Dignity Apparel team and this year stepped up as a Sewing Line Lead. She was born in Burma but grew up in Thailand, until coming to the United States in 2009. Being fluent in 4 languages, she is well-equipped to train new sewers. She appreciates how thoughtful the DA team is about appreciating her culture, making each person feel valued. She enjoys playing outside with her two boys, going to church, and spending time with friends and family.

Originally from the Chin state of Burma, Cer Chin first moved to the US in 2011 and worked in the food packaging industry in North Carolina. She is known for her patience and kindness as she trains new members of her team. She loves everything about working at DA and especially the “amazing” environment. LOOKING FOR SOMETHING UNIQUE?

1. Mixed Media-Print

This decoration style combines both embroidery and screen printing. Graphics are first screen printed, and then additional details are embroidered on top. The featured design (#630) is displayed on the front of a hooded zip sweatshirt and showcases red felt appliqué letters.

2. Mixed Media-Dye Sub

A mix of embroidery and dye-sublimation. Custom designed dye-sublimated polyester panels, like the California Ironworkers design shown, are laser cut and then stitched onto the garment with a bold line of embroidery, making for a very sharp and attractive look.

3. Direct-to-Film (DTF)

Our newest decoration method added to the lineup is Direct-to-Film (DTF). DTF is a heat-transfer based printing process that is durable, soft and flexible. It looks amazing on polos and works well on cotton, polyester, and blend fabrics, making it a great alternative to traditional embroidery. Print any design, including multi-colored designs with incredible detail. Available in a wide variety of sizes ranging from a small 2” x 2” all the way up to a full-size front/back print.

4. Appliqué

Unlike the Mixed Media-Dye-Sub method that uses custom printed panels, this decoration style utilizes fabrics such as twill and felt to create a unique look. Fabrics can be solid colored or feature a pattern, similar to design #1235 shown with a camo pattern fabric.

5. Leather Patches

These look sharp on hats, but can also be applied to other garment styles. Add your laser engraved logo or design Many patch colors and shapes available. Contact your sales rep for more information.

6. Embroidery

Always a great option on a wide variety of garments including caps, beanies, sweatshirts, polos, and jackets, embroidery continues to be a classic decoration option. Most commonly done on hats and left chests, but can also be done as a full size decoration on the front or back of jackets and sweatshirts.

With a screen printing career that has spanned three decades, Keith is our longest tenured screen printer, and it is safe to say that if you have ever ordered shirts from Image Pointe, Keith has probably printed some for you. Before joining Image Pointe he worked in law enforcement, but when that career threatened to take him out of state, he reached out to Image Pointe founder Jeff Swartzendruber, who offered him a job. He wasn’t certain he wanted to be a screen printer for the rest of his life, but added “It has turned out to be a great career. Jeff and Pat Swartzendruber are great owners whose office doors were always open. I’ve enjoyed working here and relating to the different cultures of people I’ve worked with over the years. I have good friends here, and we all work very well together. If anyone left the company, we would miss them greatly because everyone is family here.” He added that working with people from different cultures has taught him to work hard and never take anything for granted.

Sidika has lived in the United States since arriving from her home country of Bosnia 23 years ago. As a print finisher lead, she pulls completed garments off print machines, clips threads off of garments, and performs quality control on finished products.

She left Bosnia in the 1990s after the war because there was no work for her. Since coming to the United States, she said that “Life has been better for my family and I. Because of my job at Image Pointe, my girls were able to go to college and my husband and I have been able to buy cars and a house.”

Sidika appreciates the support from management and her coworkers and is thankful for the flexibility and extended time off so that she can visit family in Bosnia.

My husband is a teacher, and we have three kids. Working at Image Pointe has helped my husband and I better support our family, especially since the cost of living has gone up.” She went on to say that the flexibility in hours enables her to be with her children when needed.
