Our vision is to revive an American garment industry that has been in decline for decades, allowing Americans to continue to buy garments made from American fibers and fabric – with all of the worker and environmental benefits this brings – and that are cut, sewn, and crafted in a union factory committed to the flourishing of our employees and their families. Partnering with our team, our community, and our customer base, we believe we can accomplish great things in the lives of real people. WHY USA-MADE GARMENTS?

• In 1960, roughly 95% of apparel worn by Americans was made by Americans. As of 2009, this number had dropped to 2%. • US garment manufacturing has decreased by 80% in the past three decades. The global garment industry has filled the gap, and has proven rife with indentured labor, child labor, and environmental destruction.

WHY UNION-MADE GARMENTS? • In the last decade, the vast majority of unionized garment factories have shut down or stopped serving the union market. There were less than 10 remaining in the US at the end of 2021. • The largest non-union garment production market in the US (CA) recently passed legislation to stop common pay practices that saw workers making less than 1/3 of minimum wage with no benefits. • Non-union garment factories often use imported fabrics and materials to save on cost instead of relying on a robust and thriving American cotton market. • How can we ensure that the garments we buy lead to thriving, sustainable livelihoods? The Dignity Apparel mission is to create dignified, life-changing jobs. We’re blessed to have created more than 25 jobs so far in 2022, the vast majority of which provided employment for the previously unemployed in our community, adding much-needed income and benefits for their families.
