Brunswick
A onCitythe Move
Brunswick, Ohio, is experiencing one of the most dynamic periods of growth in its history — one defined by sweeping investments in public safety, education, parks, and local business.
Brunswick Division of Fire opened the doors to its new station on December 1, 2025. The approximately 26,000-square-foot structure is centrally located within the city at 1094 Hadcock Road, putting nearly the entire city within a two-mile radius. Funded in part by a $12-million bond issue approved by Brunswick voters, the facility gives firefighters more room to work and train — and room to grow alongside the city.
Meanwhile, a transformational project is taking shape on Center Road. The new Brunswick High School is a $102 million complex planned at 302,000 square feet, complete with a 1,000-seat auditorium and a 2,000-seat competition gymnasium. The groundbreaking took place in May 2025, and identifiable spaces — including the Performing Arts Center, Competition Gymnasium, and Academic Wing — are already taking shape. The building is on schedule to
Emergency Notification
Brunswick residents can now receive emergency notifications through a telephone and digital mass alert system. Hyper-Reach allows safety
welcome students at the start of the 2027–28 school year. Brunswick's green spaces are getting equal attention. The city adopted a Brunswick Parks Master Plan in early 2025 and allocated an additional $1.2 million in its 2025 budget for future park improvements. A crown jewel of that system, the Plum Creek Greenway, reached full completion last year. The paved multi-use trail — a collaboration with the Medina County Park District — now links Plum Creek Park to Brunswick Lake across three phases, featuring pedestrian bridges over Plum Creek and crosswalks with flashing signals. The Medina County Park District will maintain the trail under a 25-year management agreement.
The commercial scene continues to grow as well. The Back Nine Golf opened at Brunswick Town Center, offering a 24/7 indoor golf simulator experience using Full Swing technology — the same used by pros like Tiger Woods. Open to both members and the public, it's become a yearround destination for golfers of all skill levels. PlayVille also opened its doors at the Hickory Ridge Shopping Center on Pearl Road, offering an indoor jungle-themed play area geared toward children seven and under. And in news that has Brunswick residents buzzing, Donut Land — a beloved mom-and-pop institution open since 1972 — has announced plans to relocate to a larger space later this year, after 54 years at its current location. The shop, which was named the best donuts in Northeast Ohio by Cleveland.com in 2023, plans to preserve its homespun character in its new home. On the industrial side, recently approved road improvements in Brunswick's industrial park will support expanding companies in the area.

Strengthening Our Community
Over the past few years, life in Brunswick Hills Township has been quietly evolving—and that evolution becomes even more meaningful when you look at both the homes and the people who make up the community. Growth here isn't just about new roads or roundabouts; it's reflected in the character of the township itself — steady, supportive, and deeply connected.
The housing market offers a clear window into that story. Today, the township's median home value sits comfortably in the low-to-mid $300,000 range, marking a gradual increase from just a few years ago. Rather than a sharp spike, this rise reflects consistent demand from buyers drawn to the area's balance of space and accessibility. With a resident base whose average age falls in the early 40s, Brunswick Hills maintains a stable, family-oriented feel where people tend to stay and invest in their surroundings.
That sense of investment extends well beyond residential real estate. One of the defining qualities of Brunswick Hills Township is its strong, visible support for local safety services. The community consistently rallies behind its police, fire department, and road crews—whether through local initiatives, funding support, or simple day-to-day appreciation.
Residents regularly advocate for the resources these departments need, reinforcing a shared understanding that public safety and infrastructure are essential to the township's quality of life.
This community-minded focus pairs naturally with the township's recent and upcoming capital improvements. Investments like modern roundabouts will improve traffic flow and safety, while ongoing roadway maintenance reflects the dedication of local crews who keep things running smoothly in every season. At the same time, commercial development has been carefully managed, guided in part by a comprehensive land use plan completed this year, which lays out a clear vision for where and how future business growth should occur. Rather than opening the door to unchecked expansion, the township is using this plan to encourage thoughtful, well-placed development that complements existing neighborhoods and preserves the area's open character. Credit goes to the new members of the zoning department, zoning commission, and board of zoning appeals for their work in shaping this vision.
All together, the past few years in Brunswick Hills Township paint a picture of thoughtful, people-centered growth. Rising home values, a stable and engaged population, strategic infrastructure upgrades, and unwavering support for safety services all point in the same direction. This is a community that isn't just growing—it's strengthening, with residents who take pride in looking out for one another and the services that keep their township running every day.

Brunswick Hills Township
Small Town, Big Hearts
Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Medina County is a residential oasis known as Hinckley— Hinckley Township, that is. Nestled approximately midway between Cleveland and Akron, the township spans 25 square miles and offers an ideal setting for those who appreciate serenity, open spaces, a mix of historic and newer homes, and a close-knit community atmosphere. In 2025, Hinckley proudly celebrated its bicentennial, marking 200 years of community and tradition.
Hinckley Township is governed by three elected trustees who are committed to fiscally responsible decision-making while ensuring the delivery of high-quality services. An elected Fiscal Officer oversees all departmental budgets and financial matters. Trustees Engleman, Schrader, and Paintiff take great pride in the Township’s Police, Fire, and Road Departments, recognizing their dedication to providing exceptional service to residents and visitors alike, as well as their ongoing efforts to implement meaningful improvements that enhance daily life.
Students residing in Hinckley Township are served by the Highland Local and Brunswick City School districts, in addition to several local private schools, offering families a range of educational options.
One of Hinckley’s most treasured assets is the Hinckley Reservation, owned and operated by the Cleveland Metroparks System. Encompassing more than 3,200 acres, it is the only Cleveland Metroparks property located outside of Cuyahoga County. Hinckley Lake has recently reopened following a major spillway dam rehabilitation project. The Reservation features extensive walking, hiking, and
horseback riding trails, while the lake offers opportunities for fishing and swimming.
Hinckley Township also owns and maintains five parks: Veterans Memorial Park, honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country; Bronger’s Park, located behind Town Hall; the 30-acre River Woods Nature Preserve at the intersection of Routes 303 and River Road; and the Youth Fields and Kobak Fields, home to baseball and softball activities.
The township proudly preserves its small-town character through a rich lineup of community events held throughout the year. These include Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades, community trick-or-treating, movie nights, craft fairs, Easter egg hunts, and the township’s most well-known celebration—Buzzard Day. This beloved event commemorates the annual return of the turkey vultures, affectionately known as “buzzards” in Hinckley, with sausage and pancakes, craft vendors, children’s activities, educational programs, and guided nature hikes.
With its rolling hills, abundant parkland, rural homesteads, and strong sense of community, Hinckley Township truly lives up to its motto: Small Town, Big Hearts. Learn more at hinckleytwp.org or facebook.com/ HinckleyTownshipOhio.

Valley City
Small Town, Strong Spirit
The first permanent settlement in Medina County, Liverpool Township (Valley City), is located approximately 20 miles south of Cleveland in Northern Medina County. It is governed by a Board of three Trustees and a Fiscal Officer. The Trustees establish policy, oversee expenditures, and appoint zoning officials and township employees. Essential services are provided by the Valley City Fire Department, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buckeye Local School District.
The Township is also home to Medina County’s largest industrial park, spanning more than 900 acres. Its proximity to major interstates makes it an ideal location for manufacturing and distribution, supporting efficient, just-in-time delivery operations. The privately owned park offers fully serviced sites—including gas, electric, water, sewer, and rail access— ranging from 2 to 50 acres and ready for development.
Valley City is a vibrant community with strong roots that hosts a variety of annual events, including the Independence Day Parade and fireworks, the Street Fair, Christmas in the Valley, and the well-known Frog Jump Festival. In 1964, Governor Jim Rhodes officially designated Valley City as the “Frog Jump Capital of Ohio.” Many of these events are organized by the Valley City Community Group, a volunteer organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the community.
Outdoor recreation is one of the township’s greatest assets. Preserving access to outdoor recreation in Liverpool Township assures that future generations can enjoy the same
natural beauty and open landscapes that are valued today. Mill Stream Park, a 27-acre park established in 2001 along the Rocky River, offers a paved accessible walking trail, reservable pavilions, a playground, concession stand, and pickleball and basketball courts. It’s also the primary venue for the annual Frog Jump and other community events. The Medina County Park District maintains two additional parks in the township. The Zachary A. Weber Riverside Park, opened July 2025, includes an open-air picnic shelter, seating, and great views of the Rocky River as it flows north through Liverpool Township. The Liverpool Meadows Nature Preserve, opened in November 2025, offers visitors a peaceful retreat surrounded by restored prairie, wetlands, and mature forests. This 104-acre preserve features a 0.9-mile gravel loop trail, access to the Rocky River on the north end of the property, and an observation area.
For those interested in local history, the Liverpool Historical Society’s Depot Museum offers seasonal tours. Housed in a restored 1895 train depot, the museum features artifacts, maps, and historical records from early Liverpool Township. The grounds also include a 1941 Porter Dinky steam locomotive and a 1926 caboose. Nearby, the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic (LGAR) Museum and National Headquarters preserves and shares the legacy of the nation’s veterans.
And when it’s time to eat, Valley City delivers. From cozy coffee shops to full-service restaurants, the Township offers a variety of local dining options—plenty of opportunities to enjoy a great meal and discover new favorites.
Visit Valley City—where strong roots, a strong community, and a strong future come together.

INSIDE THE BACK NINE GOLF
Golf lovers have a new way to practice their swing year-round. The Back Nine Golf, a high-tech indoor golf simulator facility, is the first Ohio location for the national franchise, which has expanded into 38 states.
Owner Ann Marie Fisher, a Brunswick native, recognized an opportunity to bring something unique and exciting to her hometown. With golf being a popular pastime in the area, she saw strong local demand for a modern, year-round facility — and The Back Nine delivered exactly that.
The Back Nine uses Full Swing simulators — the same technology trusted by pros like Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy during TGL virtual play. This isn't a clunky mall arcade setup. The industry-leading analytics and course-like simulation give golfers invaluable data to improve their swing. And the course selection is impressive — players can enjoy nearly all of the world's most popular courses, including Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, Royal St. George's Golf Club, and many more.
The facility features three bays, each outfitted with bar stools and long tables, a wall-mounted TV with YouTube TV and NFL Sunday Ticket, and a Bluetooth soundbar. There’s no on-site food or drink service, but
Donut Land has been part of Brunswick since 1972, when Bill Rienerth Sr. opened the shop on Pearl Road.
Over more than five decades, it grew into a familiar presence for residents, known for dependable hours, consistent recipes, and a steady place in the daily rhythm of the community.
Following Bill’s passing, the business remained in the family. His granddaughter, Amanda Rienerth, assumed ownership and continues to operate Donut Land alongside her daughters, Malorie and Abriana, supported by a long-tenured and close-knit staff. The approach has remained practical and hands-on, focused on maintaining quality rather than chasing trends.
Donut Land produces more than 50 varieties of yeast and cake donuts, apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, hot cross buns,
guests are welcome to bring their own — making it easy to turn a session into a relaxed social outing. Additional amenities include club rentals, an event space, and free parking.

nut and poppy seed rolls, strudels, creme subs, Italian Banias, donut holes, and peanut butter bars, along with custom orders for gatherings and events. Its donut cakes—including the popular “Happy Birthday” designs—have become a staple at local celebrations. The shop is open 24 hours a day, making it a reliable stop for early-morning commuters, overnight workers, and families alike, with limited Monday closures during the summer months. Donut Land also maintains strong ties to Brunswick’s schools and community organizations.
In 2026, the business marked a major milestone by purchasing the former Rite Aid building on Center Road. The larger space will allow for expanded production, improved customer flow, and long-term growth while remaining in Brunswick. Renovations are currently underway, and the new location is expected to open in summer 2026.
Despite the scale of the expansion, the focus remains unchanged. The recipes, family involvement, and community commitment that have defined Donut Land for generations will continue—now with room to grow. Visit donutlandohio.com for more info.

Tucked into the heart of Valley City, The Wandering Goose Boutique & Shop is more than a retail store; it’s a thoughtfully curated community space rooted in history, creativity, and connection. Founded by mother-daughter duo Gina and Karin Reale, the shop reflects a shared vision of blending artisan retail with meaningful, place-based experiences.
Housed inside a beautifully restored home dating back to 1865, the shop carries with it a tangible sense of the past. The historic structure has been carefully renovated to preserve its charm while creating a warm, inviting environment for visitors. Wooden floors, intimate rooms, and vintage details give the space a livedin feeling, more like visiting a friend’s home than entering a traditional store.
At its core, the shop offers a curated selection of artisan goods, including handmade soaps, home décor, gifts, and small-batch products sourced from independent makers and even the Reales themselves. But what truly sets it apart is its commitment to programming that extends beyond retail. The space regularly hosts medium workshops, seasonal gatherings, and creative events designed to bring people together. From hands-on crafting sessions to community-centered experiences, the boutique serves as a hub
for inspiration and connection.
Adding to the shop’s charm is Sage, the beloved resident cat and unofficial greeter. Often found lounging in sunny corners or curiously inspecting new merchandise, Sage has become part of the store’s personality and a memorable part of the visitor experience.
This hybrid retail shop and experiential venue positions The Wandering Goose as a cultural touchpoint in Valley City—offering not just products, but a sense of belonging. To shop online, visit TheWanderingGooseBoutique.com, or you can find the shop and shop cat, Sage, at 6829 Center Rd. in Valley City.

Earning Purple Star Designation
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce announced in April 2026 that all five schools in the Highland Local School District—Granger Elementary, Hinckley Elementary, Sharon Elementary, Highland Middle School, and Highland High School—have earned the Purple Star designation as part of the Purple Star Class of 2026! Ohio’s Purple Star Advisory Board sets strict criteria that schools must meet to be eligible for the designation, and all buildings in the district have met those standards.
Ohio’s military-connected students need support that considers their unique wellness and academic needs, especially during transitions, activations, and deployments. The Purple Star award signifies the district’s proven commitment to serving these students and families.
The Highland Local School District has a certified military family liaison in every building to help provide resources and support to military families. Additionally, there are Purple Up! Days for students and staff to wear purple district-wide to honor students who are children of members of our military. The district holds annual Veterans Day events in each building, students create and send thank you cards, and hold supply drives for active military members.
The district recognizes and respects all those who serve the United States Military, especially military families. With a dedication to aiding military families by providing an individualized support team and additional resources to military-connected students, Highland remains committed to providing special programming and events that raise awareness and promote military opportunities and patriotism.

Our Dedication to Excellence
While our campus continues to change due to ongoing construction projects, our relentless dedication to excellence remains the same!
The Brunswick City School District earned an overall rating of 4.5 stars for the second consecutive year on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce report card. Only 142 of Ohio’s 607 public school districts achieved an overall rating of 4.5 or higher, placing our district in the top 25% of public schools in Ohio. While report cards are important, they only show part of the story. Our school district has so many great things happening every day that a report card can't capture. To get a fuller picture, we invite you to visit our schools, talk to our teachers and administrators, attend Board of Education meetings, check out our district website at bcsoh.org, and follow us on social media.
On May 3, 2025, the Brunswick City School District broke ground on our new high school, part of the bond measure approved by voters in spring 2023. This bond has secured $42.6 million in state funds from the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, significantly reducing costs for our taxpayers.
Funding will support the construction of the new high school, the completed parking lots at Kidder and

COMPETING IN TODAY’S MARKET
T he 2026 real estate market is well underway and, like many recent years, remains firmly a seller's market. High housing demand has created a frenzied buying environment, with most homes receiving multiple offers. First-time buyers hoping to become homeowners are finding it especially difficult to compete against cash buyers.
In Medina County, the average time on the market was 37 days in both January 2025 and January 2026. However, based on last July's pace — when homes sold in just 10 days — we can expect the market to heat up significantly this summer.
The United States has faced a housing shortage for the past decade, and there is much speculation about why. One theory is that senior citizens are holding on to their paid-off homes rather than moving into assisted living facilities — a hesitancy that grew during the COVID-19 pandemic, when loved ones were unable to visit residents in care settings. The cost of assisted living and nursing homes is also considerable and can potentially consume all of a homeowner's equity, leaving little or nothing for their heirs.
Multi-generational living has emerged as one solution, allowing seniors to remain in their homes while welcoming
the next generation under the same roof. Adding to the complexity, many people approaching retirement are simultaneously caring for their own elderly parents — a reflection of longer life expectancy across the population.
Strong housing demand continues to drive multipleoffer situations, with a significant share of those offers being cash. Unlike financed purchases, cash offers do not require an appraisal unless the buyer includes one in the purchase agreement. This dynamic pushes home prices higher, which in turn raises neighborhood property values — and ultimately, property taxes.
While interest rates still factor into the buying process, people ultimately buy and sell based on what is happening in their own lives — a new baby, a change in school district, or the need to upsize or downsize. Life drives the market as much as economics does.

WHY CHOOSE GLASS?
Glass enclosures instantly open up a bathroom, making even smaller spaces feel larger and more airy. They're also far more hygienic, as glass surfaces resist mold and mildew buildup when properly maintained.
TYPES OF GLASS ENCLOSURES
There are several styles to consider. Frameless enclosures offer a contemporary, high-end look with minimal hardware and easy cleaning. Semi-frameless designs balance style and affordability, while fully framed options provide extra stability and a wider range of customization.

Does Therapy Work?
Short answer, absolutely. Therapy works.
If you are looking for:
▸ An outside perspective on your situation from an unbiased source.
▸ A professional who will guide you through a crisis you feel lost in.
▸ Someone who will not only respect and honor your goals and perspective, but actively work with you to reach those goals.
▸ Someone who is on your side and counts themselves as part of your support network.
▸ Honesty.
▸ A pathway to Live the Life YOU Want to Live.
This is where therapy tends to be most effective.
There are also things that therapy can’t do as well. If you are looking for:
▸ A quick fix.
▸ A yes person or an echo chamber of your own thoughts and opinions.
▸ A magic wand.
When you work with a mental health professional, how well therapy goes depends on what you are looking
to get out of it and having reasonable expectations about what therapy can and can’t do.
Therapy is a process. Like anything meaningful, it takes honesty, consistency, and time.
At My Integrity Counseling, we provide a compassionate and professional space where our clients are seen and heard. Many of us on staff have been on both sides of the counseling relationship. We know how strange counseling can feel when you first start out and how many unknowns there are.
When you schedule an appointment with My Integrity Counseling, you can expect a personal and warm experience from the beginning. You will start with our virtual front desk, where a
real person answers your call during office hours, and connect with our administrator, Shiloh, who will talk with you about your goals for therapy, answer your questions about insurance and cash pay options, and get you scheduled with one of our excellent therapists, including Hannah, Rebekah, Shagufta, Stacey, or Phil. Your therapist will take the time in the first session to explain how therapy works and answer any questions you have.
Each therapist brings their own strengths, but all share the same commitment to clear, professional, and meaningful work.
At My Integrity Counseling, our entire team, from the virtual front desk, scheduling, billing, and insurance, to your therapist, is here to walk alongside you throughout the whole process, answer your questions, and provide the most meaningful and beneficial therapeutic experience possible. Even if you don’t know where to start, our team will assist you in taking those first steps toward your goals.
We look forward to hearing from you! Reach out today and begin to Live the Life YOU Want to Live.
Why Chamber Membership Matters
If you’ve ever wondered what a chamber of commerce really does, the answer is simple — we connect people, support businesses, and create opportunities for our entire community to grow and succeed.
At the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance, everything we do is built around relationships. We believe business is stronger when it’s done together. Through events, programs, advocacy, and networking, we help our members build meaningful connections and practical resources — because no one should have to grow a business alone.
This year is especially exciting for us as NMCCA celebrates our 10th anniversary. Over the past decade, we’ve grown into a dynamic, collaborative organization serving businesses across Brunswick, Brunswick Hills, Valley City, and Hinckley — and the momentum continues to build.
One of our signature events is Business at the Barn at Mapleside Farms, presented by MDG Flooring/Kiba Studios. It has grown into the largest business-to-business showcase in the county, with nearly 300 people walking through to meet local businesses, discover services, and build partnerships. We love wrapping up the day by opening it to the public so the broader community can connect with the incredible businesses that power our region.
Our annual golf outing is another favorite — and this year’s theme, “Par-Tee Like It’s Your Birthday — Celebrating 10 Years,” fits perfectly. It’s a day filled with networking, laughter, creativity, and friendly competition. And when fall rolls in, our Clambake at Bunker Hill Golf Course continues to be a chamber tradition — a relaxed, fun evening where our chamber family comes together to celebrate the season and each other.
We’re also proud of how our Business Builders Program has evolved. What began as a single program has grown into a year-round initiative with multiple levels of training and support. It has shown real success in helping entrepreneurs and small business owners strengthen operations, improve strategy, and grow with confidence through practical, handson learning led by chamber-member experts.
For those looking to build deeper referral relationships, our Connections Networking Groups continue to thrive. With multiple groups meeting regularly in Brunswick and Valley City, members build trusted relationships, exchange referrals, and support one another professionally and personally. It’s one of the clearest examples of how collaboration turns into real business growth.
So why does chamber membership matter? Because it produces real results. The connections are genuine. The
support is practical. The visibility is valuable. And the community is welcoming.
Whether you’re a startup, a long-established family business, a growing company, or an organization that wants to give back and stay engaged, there is a place for you here. We are proud of what we’ve built over the past 10 years and even more excited about what lies ahead.
We’d love to welcome you to the chamber family.
