Napoli ti costringe ad accantonare i problemi, te ne pone uno maggiore davanti: la sua meravigliosa ed indescrivibile bellezza. Lacrime raccolte da secoli risplendono in quel golfo, le speranze annegate danno una luce irreale alla città come monito di vita, cammini, e sorridi. E qui, a dare l’esempio, Ê Napoli. Le ombre degli stranieri si mischiano a quelle degli autoctoni, il marciapiede non distingue i colori. Marocco Mourad Saadi, è venuto in Italia coi genitori all’età di un anno ed ha sempre vissuto nel nostro paese. Avendo raggiunto la maggiore età prima che i genitori acquisissero la cittadinanza italiana è rimasto l’unico immigrato in famiglia. Studia come mediatore culturale presso l’Università Orientale di Napoli e lavora presso un centro di prima accoglienza a Napoli. Il suo sguardo sulla città è particolarmente originale giacchè particolari, apparentemente insignificanti, riempiono il primo piano mentre i panorami più conosciuti sono uno sfondo indistinto.
Mourad Saadi, came to Italy with his parents when he was one year old and he always lived in our country. He was adult before that his parents acquired the Italian citizenship for this reason he is the only immigrant in the family. He studied as a cultural mediator at the UniversitĂ Orientale of Naples and he works at a center for immigrants in this city. His pictures about Naples are particularly original because details, seemingly insignificant, fill the close-up while the best known views are a soft background.
Nigeria Akachukwu Chukwuemeka L’immaginazione e il desiderio di sperimentazione costituiscono la forte motivazione delle sue opere. Akachukwu Chukwuemeka (akabeks) rappresenta la percezione del suo ambiente attraverso la pittura, la poesia. Fotografa ciò che vede, ma dipinge ciò che sente. Richiama l’attenzione su questioni che riguardano la società attraverso le sue opere; sul piano politico, economico, religioso, ecc ..., per questo la maggior parte delle sue opere ha lo stesso tema delle poesie. A volte scrive prima di dipingere, altre volte dipinge e le poesie vengono più tardi. Le poesie contribuiscono a dare profondità concettuale e viceversa. Egli vede l’arte come una finestra per una fantasia infinita. Ritiene che il pubblico possa scegliere se accontentarsi del telaio della finestra o optare per il paesaggio infinito di fantasia e bellezza al di là di questa. La creatività è per lui come il fiume, più ci si va, più si resta esposti alla bellezza. Akachukwu sta attualmente esplorando il concetto di forme nel cielo in cui vede diversi tipi di forme nel suo cielo. Akachukwu Chukwuemeka è nato a Amata Mgbowo, nello stato di Enugu in Nigeria, il mercoledì, 23 giugno 1971. Ha studiato Belle Arti e presso l’Università della Nigeria, Nsukka, laureandosi in pittura nel 1997. Ha anche un Post Graduate Diploma in Studi di Genere della Università di Abuja nel 2010. Akachukwu Chukwuemeka Imagination and desire to experiment is the strong motivator in his works. Akachukwu Chukwuemeka (akabeks) represents the perception of his environment through painting, poetry,
and photography; he sees, but paints what he feels. He draws attention to issues affecting his society through his works; politically, economically, religiously, etc‌ and that is why most of his artworks have the same theme with his poems. Sometimes he writes before he paints, other times he paints and the poems come later. The poems help to give the concept depth and vice versa. He sees art as a window to an endless imagination. He believes that the audience may choose to settle for the window frame or opt for the endless landscape of imagination and beauty beyond the window. Creativity to him is like the river, the deeper you go, the more exposed the beauty. Akachukwu is currently exploring the concept of forms in the sky in which he sees different kind of forms in his sky. Akachukwu Chukwuemeka was born at Amata Mgbowo, in Enugu State Nigeria on Wed., 23rd June 1971. He studied Fine and Applied arts at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, majoring in painting in 1997. He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Gender Studies from University of Abuja in 2010.
Emeka Ikebude è un artista visivo premiato e un attivista. Il suo lavoro esplora i temi della dislocazione e frammentazione nel contesto della globalizzazione. La sua tecnica unica di trasformare i media di tutti i giorni come il legno, tessuto, metallo produce opere che “evocano modalità non usuali di percezione”, e spesso localizzate all’incrocio tra arte e tecnologia. Ha studiato alla Ohio University, e l’Università del Texas a Dallas. Emeka coordina anche il progetto Stream, un’organizzazione nonprofit che si concentra sulla soluzione dei problemi della carenza idrica globale. Vive a Dallas, Texas.
Emeka Ikebude is an award-winning visual artist and activist. His work explores the themes of dislocation and fragmentation within the context of globalization. His unique technique of transforming everyday media such as wood, fabric, and metal produce works that “evoke non-habitual modes of perception�, and often locate at the intersection of art and technology . He studied at Ohio University, and the University of Texas at Dallas. Emeka also coordinates The Stream Project, a non-profit that focuses on solving problems of global water scarcity. He lives in Dallas, Texas.
Sud Africa Nathalie Duveau Si divide tra Sud Africa e Francia Nathalie Duveau. Psicoanalista, ora impegnata in un dottorato di poesia e fenomenologia. Ha pubblicato una raccolta di poesie ed è in procinto di pubblicarne un’altra. La sua arte si muove in parallelo all’ispirazione poetica e consiste in tecniche miste ma si sta muovendo verso le performance. Sta cercando di organizzare una mostra per artisti emergenti europei e sudafricani dal titolo “Dov’è il domani? Risposte artistiche”. Nathalie Duveau is living between South Africa and France. She is a psycho-analysist and now is attending a doctorate in poetry, and about the phenomenology (Paul Valery and Merleau Ponty). She already published a book of poems and she is on the point to publish a new one. Her art approach works with the poïetic process, mix media, and she would like to work on performances. She is working on an art project to exhibit artwork of emergent artists from South Africa and Europe who would like to participate to the following project : “Where is tomorrow? Art answers”. It will be the title of an experimental project, the exhibition will feature ideas of artworks designed the artists for the imaginary future. A series of paintings, videos performances, photographies, creating an image of the future world and is believed to influence the progress of the present. The questions are; Will there be visual arts at all in the future as imagined by mankind? Could the visual arts get a fresh impulse for the development?
Karin Miller Il lavoro di quest’artista sudafricana consiste in un gioco visivo tra bellezza e tragedia, ritmo ed interruzione alla ricerca di un senso d’ordine nel caos della vita che ci travolge. La ricerca genetica fa risalire la nostra ascendenza ad un unico uomo ed un unica donna vissuti in Africa 200000 anni fa. Questo sembra raccontare la sua opera “Adam and Eve”. The work of this Southafrican artist is a visual play between beauty and tragedy, rhythm and interruption – searching for a sense of order in the overwhelming chaos of life. Genetic research traced our ancestry to a single man and a single woman who lived in Africa 200,000 years ago. This seems to narrate her artwork “Adam and Eve”
Jeannette Unite è un artista visiva immersa nella materialità del processo di fare arte sia utilizzando grandi pastelli di gesso fatti a mano con ossidi minerali, sia utilizzando ossidi metallici simili ad opere d’arte in vetro, quadri o stampe. Lei usa immagini, informazioni e metafore dalle miniere come punto di partenza per le sue riflessioni e i propri percorsi personali. Viaggia per i siti d’estrazione e i siti industriali per i campioni, per la ricerca e le prove fotografiche di resti residui del potere, dell’industrializzazione e del neocolonialismo sul paesaggio africano. Ha studiato per conseguire un BA Fine Art presso la Scuola Michaelis of Art, Università di Città del Capo dal 1981 fino al 1986, e ha studiato ulteriormente a UNISA mentre insegnava al Frank Joubert Art Centre fino a quando la domanda per le sue opere d’arte la spinse a divenire artista a tempo pieno nel 1997. lei continua a vivere e lavorare in, e viaggiare dal suo studio a Città del Capo.
Jeannette Unite is a visual artist who is immersed in the materiality of the art making process whether it is using her own large hand-made chalk-based pastels with mineral oxides or using similar metal oxides in glass artworks, paintings or prints. She uses images, information and metaphors from mining as a point of departure for her reflections on her own personal journeys. She travels to mining and industrial sites for samples, to research and photographically record evidence of the residual remains of power, industrialisation and neo-colonialism on the African landscape. She studied towards a BA Fine Art at the Michaelis School of Art, University of Cape Town from 1981 until 1986, and studied further at UNISA while teaching at Frank Joubert Art Centre until demand for her artwork propelled her into full time art practice in 1997. She continues to live and work in, and travel from her studio in Cape Town.
Tanzania I Tinga Tinga sono una cooperativa di artisti che prende il nome dal fondatore Edward Saidi Tinga Tinga che cominciò a fare opere naïf ispirandosi a pitture murarie tradizionali della zona di Dar Es Salaam. In “Colori sotto il Vesuvio” espongono sei degli oltre settanta artisti di questo gruppo: Mwamedi Chiwaya, Mohamed Mpochogo, Nakoko, Saidi Omary, Godfry Tiamalu, Mustafa Yusufu. The Tinga Tinga is a cooperative of artists that takes its name from the founder Edward Saidi Tinga Tinga who began making naive works inspired by traditional wall paintings of the Dar Es Salaam area. In “Colors under Vesuvius” expose five of the more than seventy artists from this group: Mwamedi Chiwaya, Mohamed Mpochogo, Nakoko, Saidi Omary, Godfry Tiamalu, Mustafa Yusufu.
