In a narrow street, a man with the sun about to set, squats lizardlike as though carved from the limestone of a house. On the main square, the wall lion rests its relieved paw on an open book, ever-patient to be understood by a new pair of eyes. Not a great deal changes for either of them, and the mild breeze carries its scattered elegy north.
