From the Editor This year asked a lot of us.

It asked us to stretch beyond what felt comfortable, to trust the quiet voice within when the path ahead was not yet clear, and to keep moving even when growth required courage rather than certainty. As this year comes to a close, I find myself reflecting not only on what has expanded, but on what has been strengthened. ÎLE MAISON grew in ways that cannot always be measured. Across cities and continents, new conversations opened, new doors appeared, and new layers of purpose revealed themselves. This year took us into rooms, gatherings, and places where ideas were exchanged, partnerships were formed, and visions were shared. Through meaningful collaborations and the events we were fortunate to attend and support, ÎLE MAISON became part of a wider dialogue — one shaped by leadership, creativity, and a shared commitment to the future.

There were moments of momentum and moments of pause — both equally necessary. Through it all, I kept moving with faith: faith in the vision, faith in timing, and faith that what is built with integrity will find its way. It reminded me that resilience is often quiet, that growth is rarely linear, and that finishing strong sometimes simply means staying present and trusting the process.

THE RISE OF A $6.8 TRILLION WORLD - The New Architecture of Global Wellbeing Our perspective on the Global Wellness Institute’s 2025 Global Wellness Economy Monitor The global wellness economy has entered a historic new era. According to the Global Wellness Institute’s newly released 2025 Global Wellness Economy Monitor, the market reached a record $6.8 trillion in 2024, expanding by 7.9% since the previous year and growing a remarkable 35% since 2019. Wellness has officially moved beyond pandemic recovery—every one of its 11 sectors now surpasses pre-2020 levels, many by extraordinary margins. What emerges from the data is a portrait of an industry not merely thriving, but accelerating, reshaping global culture, and redefining how humanity chooses to live.

The wellness economy’s scale is staggering. At $6.8 trillion, wellness now surpasses the size of tourism, sports, information technology, and the global green economy. It is nearly four times larger than the pharmaceutical industry and represents 60% of all global health expenditures, which total $11.2 trillion.

If wellness accounted for 5.7% of global GDP in 2019 and 6.1% in 2024, it is projected to reach 7.1% by 2029. By then, the wellness economy is expected to approach $9.8 trillion, driven by powerful global forces: aging populations, rising chronic disease, unprecedented mental health challenges, and a cultural shift toward prevention, longevity, and more intentional living.

Two sectors stand out as the most transformative: wellness real estate and mental wellness.

Wellness real estate has been the fastestgrowing sector in the entire global wellness economy, expanding at 19.5% annually between 2019 and 2024. This explosive growth reflects a profound realization accelerated by the pandemic: the environments in which we live have direct, measurable impact on our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Homes, communities, and hospitality spaces designed with wellness at their core have moved from niche to necessity, and GWI forecasts that wellness real estate will continue to lead global growth at 15.2% annually, doubling again within the next five years.

Mental wellness has also surged, growing 12.4% annually over the last five years. This reflects a world under increasing pressure, where younger generations in particular now view emotional and psychological wellbeing as non-negotiable.

The United States currently leads with a $125 billion mental wellness market, followed distantly by China at $16 billion.

Categories such as meditation, mindfulness, sleep science, and cannabis-based wellness have seen exceptional expansion, with meditation and mindfulness growing nearly 19% annually and sleep-related wellness growing over 12%.

These numbers affirm a collective truth: mental health is no longer a private concern— it is a global priority shaping decisions in real estate, hospitality, workplace culture, and daily life.

Wellness tourism, spas, and thermal or mineral springs—industries that were hit hardest during the pandemic—have rebounded with extraordinary momentum. Between 2023 and 2024 alone, wellness tourism expanded by 13.8%, spas by 14.6%, and thermal springs by 11.1%. This reflects not only a return to travel, but a redefinition of why people travel.

Today’s global traveler is not simply seeking escape, but restoration, meaning, and reconnection with nature, community, ritual, and self.

Every region of the world has contributed to this rise, with North America showing the highest annual growth at 7.9%, followed closely by the Middle East–North Africa at 7.2% and Europe at 6.3%. Per capita wellness spending highlights striking contrasts in global priorities and economic capacity: North Americans spend an average of $6,029 annually on wellness, while Europeans spend $1,876, compared to $607 in Latin America, $471 in Asia, and $339 in the Middle East–North Africa. These numbers point not only to economic differences but to evolving cultural values and the desire for healthier ways of living.

Looking ahead, the sectors expected to grow fastest include wellness real estate, traditional and complementary medicine, mental wellness, wellness tourism, and thermal springs.

Traditional & complementary medicine —which now encompasses many of the diagnostic, longevity, and biooptimization tools appearing in fitness and spa environments—is expected to grow by 10.8% annually.

Thermal and mineral springs, supported by a global resurgence of social bathing culture, are projected to expand by 10% per year.

On November 12, 2025, Warsaw became a crossroads for innovation as the U-Nation Conference: Innovations to Rebuild Ukraine convened international leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and technologists for a forward-looking dialogue on reconstruction through innovation.

Wild Swans — Restoring Identity ~Part of The ÎM Initiative: A Cultural Legacy Projects Supporting Art, Humanity, and Identity.

Wild Swans (Gorai Phakri) is a film that stays with you because it is deeply human.

Produced by Jani Viswanath and directed by Rajni Basumatary, the film invites us into the inner lives of women whose identities have been shaped, tested, and often wounded by societal judgment —yet never erased.

What inspired me most is the quiet grace these women carry.

Set within a lush, almost poetic landscape, the film captures the beauty of simple village life: the rhythm of daily rituals, the intimacy of community, and the dignity found in tradition.

The women are portrayed with care and respect—dressed in beautiful traditional garments, grounded in culture, and held by a sense of belonging. Even in moments of deep internal pain, there is elegance, strength, and an unspoken resilience.

At its core, Wild Swans is a film about identity—how it is shaped by society, how it can be fractured by shame and injustice, and how it can be slowly restored through solidarity and selfrecognition.

The challenges these women face are not relics of the past. They exist today, across cultures and geographies. This is precisely why the film matters. It brings awareness to continuing realities that are too often ignored, asking us not to look away.

The decision to cast only women —and to center the story entirely through their perspectives—is essential. On Saturday, 8 November, Sotheby’s inaugurated its new global headquarters at 945 Madison Avenue, ushering in the next chapter of cultural programming and exhibitions for the renowned museum building designed by Marcel Breuer.

This season’s highlights feature three blockbuster collections: The Leonard A. Lauder Collection, The Cindy and Jay Pritzker Collection, and Exquisite Corpus, one of the foremost private collections of Surrealist art.

In addition, Sotheby’s will host a series of events and a panel discussion to welcome clients and the public to the Breuer building.

In examining the structure as originally conceived by Marcel Breuer in the 1960s, Herzog & de Meuron has aimed to reinstate the architect’s original vision while adapting it to the needs of Sotheby’s and the surrounding community.

All spaces have undergone careful updates that respect their historical resonance while offering opportunities for transformation in line with the building’s new use.

That utter silence in one’s own presence helps grow…

Gliding along the moonlit path, The wind and the trees serenade, Their unconditional love, for each other, with beauty and grace The breeze, kissing me softly whispers, Set yourself free, the shackles of this world only breed pain. Humankind has become fickle, selfish, greedy and vain.

I look up at the silver moon - lazily awake, Casting aside the blanket of clouds, her beautiful face radiates; Untouched by any hand, she hangs alone in the sky.

Bewitching and beautiful, Solitary and Sublime she smiles as if to say— There’s no parallel to I; In this large Universe — the Sun, the Stars, the Planets and I — We live in complete harmony, there’s space for every life; The sun gives me his energy that I may, Shine upon the earth at night when he is away.

Can you for a moment imagine, she asks— Were we to fight, What then would be your plight?

Why then, can you not realize?

That War & blood is a useless sacrifice; Look at us and learn— Uninterrupted, unhindered yet in unison we govern; The hills, the seas, the valleys and the trees— Cherish these gifts—this earth has given Be aware—lest it be too late to mourn.
