My name is Ilaria and I am fresh graduated and motivated industrial product designer with experience in visual communication. Design represents for me a vehicle to improve the world, identifying problems and solving them most simply and intelligently as possible. Working hard to achieve my ambitions and increasing my knowledge does not frighten me, particularly in the field of design, since I want to pursue it as a career. 4

01.RB20 Rescue buoy 20 cm
6
The Mediterranean Sea is the scene of migratory flows undertaken each year by tens of thousands of women, men and children in search of salvation on board fatiscent boats. Sos Mediterranee is a volunteer organisation (VO) that has assumed a fundamental role in this scenario, rescuing human lifes crossing the Central Mediterranean route. However, rescuers use tools not designed for the difficulty of the missions. Therefore, a collaboration with the president of the assosiation Alessandro Porro has initiated, to design a light buoy that can contribute to volunteers’ missions. RB20 is a path into a scenario that is reason of political opposition, in which the design world seems to struggle to intervene, due to the lack of marketing and social attention.

*Current buoy light performance.
The light buoys currently on the market are not suitable for rescuers in terms of brightness, stability and visibility. Standard buoys have a caising that is visible less than 50% below sea level and most have a white filament light. RB20 consists of a toroid with a diameter of 20 cm, which allows the object not only to be stronger but also more visible. Furthermore, The LED (light emitting diode) technology used by the emerging product is stroboscopic. This typology of light in contact with water allows the light diffusion and it creates a glow which increases visibility more and more. The specularity of the product let to launch the buoy and utilize it in every direction RB20 land on the see surface. The new light buoy offers better performance with a low tech product.
Unscrewing the transparent HIPS dome, it is possible to extract the electronics containing the Lito battery that drives the two LEDs. Ergo, it is particularly practical to replace the battery. RB20 is made of orange HIPS, as it is mandatory for life-saving devices.

02.Jelly Stool for indoor
9
Jelly is a stool for indoor use, particularly, for limited spaces. For this reason, the seat is also designed as a surface for resting objects. In fact, the furniture consists of a round surface intended for seating while the container fixed on the legs is ideated to be a container. This product takes inspiration from the jellyfish shape, the totem animal that represents the cycles of life. Jelly is hands-on and suitable for any type of environment. Furthermore, the stool is composed entirely in Inox AISI 304 and the sitting is constituted of 4 elements: one circular metal base, 2 legs (upper and lower legs) and a metal sheet. The final product allows the consumer to freely interpret the seat, sometimes arranged as a container or as a common use. Jelly thus becomes a creative stool.

03.Flypro Portable video projector
11
Flypro is a portable projector inspired by the shape of a firefly. Due to the reduced size, this product can be easily transported searching for walls to project new videos. The handy object provides USB, AUDIO, DC SV, so that it is possible to connect the smartphone and locate it directly on the surface of the projector. The high-sensitivity camera improves focusing speed, also preventing thermal blur and ensuring a sharp, clear image. Installing an app on your smartphone makes it effortless to choose a film, control projector options and much more. The firefly will project the video, allowing the consumer to choose the most suitable location. To design the ergonomic shape for positioning the phone, a study was carried out on the 3D modelling programme Maya 2022.

04.Fanciullino Two sitter sofa for indoor
13
Fanciullino is the result of the collaboration with the Südtirol company Rossin and the Free University of Bozen - Bolzano. The aim of the project was to design a seat that would add something extra to the consumer. In fact, the product in consideration is not merely a sofa but focuses on stimulating communication. The furniture is composed of two seats that are arranged so that people can be face to face. This peace of furniture is inspired form symposia and Roman banquets, in which ancient Greeks and Romans used to gahtering and having conversation about philosphy. Moreover, the name Fanciullino comes from the poetic vision of the poet Pascoli (1855-1912). The writer asserts that there is a child inside every individual, ready to emerge through the conversation on Fanciullino.
