ALL ABOUT OLAPARIB

Better known by its brand name Lynparza, Olaparib is an ADP-ribose polymerase inhibitor that is prescribed to patients who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and HER2 negative metastatic breast cancer having BRCA mutations, advanced cases of prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer. Mention may be made of the fact that Olaparib is the only PARP inhibitor that has been approved for all the above-stated conditions.

How is it taken? Olaparib Dosage & Usage It comes in pill form and needs to be swallowed whole with water. The typical dose is 300mg which means that the patient would have to consume two 150mg Lynparza tablets every day. The tablets must not be crushed, chewed or dissolved in water. You are also to refrain from dividing the dosage. If the patient develops toxicities that cannot be managed, the doctor will reduce the dosage. The treatment must be continued till the body shows response or until life-threatening side effects are seen. Continuous treatment that lasts up to 2 years can manage the condition quite well.

Precautionary Measures 1. The patient is supposed to take the tablets with a gap of 12 hours in between. You can take it with or without food. 2. You are advised to avoid taking more than 4 tablets in a day.
