TELESCOOP Celebrates its 40th Anniversary The PLDT Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TELESCOOP) celebrated its 40th year of existence last June 17, 2016.

This was highlighted by a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Ramon Merino held at the 6th Floor, PLDT Cooperatives Building. From a meager capital of Php30,000.00 on June 18,1976, contributed by twenty-eight (28) Founding Members, TELESCOOP has evolved to be a member of the elite group of billionaire cooperatives in the Philippines. TELESCOOP was established as a Service Cooperative to address the sky-rocketing prices of goods and services at that time to make it affordable to PLDT employees/members brought about by the devaluation of the Philippine Peso by establishing direct business partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers.

In Memoriam - Teofilo “Pilo” Espadera (September 26, 1955 - August 31, 2016)

TELESCOOP-Shell Gas Card, A Perfect Gift

Since its introduction in February 2016, a total of 1,019 TELESCOOP members are presently enjoying the privilege and convenience of the TELESCOOP-Shell Gas Card.

Our colleague, TELESCOOP Director Teofilo E. Espadera, has moved on to be eternally reunited with our Creator. Pilo, as he was fondly called, was a Certified Public Accountant and a Bachelor of Law graduate. He worked at PLDT from 1982 until his retirement last 2015 at Tax Planning Center. He served as a member of TELESCOOP Audit Committee and later as a Board of Director until his demise.

He exemplified the true essence of cooperative service. He continuously shared his knowledge and expertise in different capacities as a TELESCOOP Officer. Pilo will surely be missed for his ready smile and active presence in various cooperative endeavors. Godspeed our friend on your journey to eternal life! Lastly, as Pilo would always say, “That’s all!”

It has registered a total sales of Php 7,971,185.04 from February to October 2016 and generated a net income of Php 260,951.04. But did you know that TELESCOOPShell Gas Card is not just all about convenience, discount and deferred payment for gas purchases? You can also extend it to your immediate relatives as a gift for any occasion. Yes, a member may apply for additional TELESCOOP-Shell Gas Card for their immediate siblings and other relatives. Your initial credit limit of Php 5,000.00 per month can be increased depending on your capacity to pay. All gas purchases by relative-recipients will be charged to member’s account under the same scheme of payment arrangement.

CUSTOMER’S EXPERIENCE FORUM Kudos for a Job Well Done!!!

“Extending the TELESCOOPShell Gas Card privilege was conceived primarily with the female members in mind, whose immediate family members drive them to and from work to have their own TELESCOOP-Shell Gas Card,” according to Director Froilan M. Bautista. Interested members may course their request to the TELESCOOP General Manager, subject to credit approval.

An email sent by Ms. Yolanda C. Jarlego, ePLDT Head-IP Contact Center Solutions to Director Hector M. Profeta: “Sir Hec, thank you very much for all your help since 2006. It’s an honor to be a member of TELESCOOP. It helped me a lot and other members specially the underprivileged and needy.

Sir hindi ko kayo makakalimutan. Kayo ang takbuhan ko kung may emergency and other purpose. I’m still with ePLDT. You are all wonderful people at TELESCOOP!”

5 Chairperson’s Corner In line with TELESCOOP business process transformation by “going digital” and in the interest of complying with BIR requirements, I would like to inform all our members regarding the following very important operational matters namely: 1. Forthcoming roll-out of the “TELESCOOP MOBILE APPLICATION” which is an innovative technological advancement using “Android” and “iOS” smartphones and tablets in accessing on-line TELESCOOP data or information thru the TELESCOOP Website. Our enrolled members can, among others, readily: a) Access their Savings Deposits and profile of their individual ledger accounts. b) Enhance browsing of various products and services of TELESCOOP. 2. Compliance with BIR requirements for the submission of “List of Cooperative members with their respective Tax Identification Number (TIN)” within six (6) months from the effectivity of Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 102-2016 on October 24, 2016. Non-compliance shall be a ground for the revocation of the BIR Certificate of Tax Exemption issued to TELESCOOP on May 27, 2016 with 5 years validity up to May 27, 2021. For this purpose and in addition to a systemwide advisory, I would like to request our members to submit to TELESCOOP their individual BIR Tax Identification Number (TIN) thru any of the following means: a) Send to TELESCOOP thru Fax No. 890-0917 your name and TIN or the front and back of their ID’s where the TIN appears. b) Scan and send to TELESCOOP thru E-mail address “sysadmin@telescoop.com. ph” your name and TIN or the front and back of their ID’s where the TIN appears. A list of all TELESCOOP members with their supplied TIN’s will be promptly submitted to BIR RDO-049-Makati in order that our BIR Tax Exemption Certificate will not be revoked and will remain valid for five (5) years until May 27, 2021. I hereby quote the pertinent provisions of Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 102-2016 for your reference and guidance:

I. “BACKGROUND

Revenue Memorandum Order (RMO) 0762070 (Prescribing the Policies and Guidelines in the Issuance of Certificate of Tax Exemption of Cooperatives and the Monitoring Thereof) requires, for the issuance of the Certificate of Tax Exemption (CTE), that cooperatives submit, among others, an Original Copy of Certification under Oath of the List of Cooperative Members with their respective Taxpayer ldentification Number (TIN) and their capital contributions, prepared by authorized official of the Cooperative. The above requirement has been relaxed by Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 81-2010 which allowed, in lieu thereof, the submission of Certified Photocopy of the List of Cooperative Members with their Respective Capital Contributions. The TIN requirement is pursuant to Executive Order (EO) No. 98, series of 1999, which requires persons, whether natural or juridical, dealing with all government agencies and instrumentalities, including government-owned and/or controlled corporations (GOCCs), and all local government units (LGUs), to incorporate their TIN in all forms, permits, licenses, clearances, official papers and documents which they secure from said government agencies, instrumentalities, GOCCs and LGUs.... IV. REVOCATION OF EXEMPTION (CTE)

6 2016-17 TELESCOOP Officers... From page 1 them. I know your Cooperative has evolved from merely basic services to financial services as well. It is very important that we should always keep abreast of the changing times. So when we say handin-heart, it goes to say that our hands and actions should be very close to the spirit that we believe we can achieve. o How do we stay relevant? The key is being capable enough in the way we handle our business as the marketplace changes. o Now there are a lot of digital services and these are opportunities for your

Cooperative. You might need to start looking at that because we want to make sure we adapt to the changing times. I know it can be scary but as our PLDT and SMART President advocates “We need to welcome change!” o Another point on relevance is to make sure we act in a way that adapts to the current market but at the same time not moving away from where your heart came from and why we are here to serve. • The big question now is how are we going to do that and it is not that simple. As Officers of your Cooperative, that burden falls on us to evolve ourselves and our members as well. There is where the continuous learning comes in. The great thing about the Company where we

are in, PLDT Inc., is that it really invests into continuous learning, increasing our professionalism, our capabilities, our structures and infrastructures.” Inducted to office for Board of Directors: Marcos R.
