The ‘urban imaginary’ is a relatively underexplored field that can illuminate competing or contradictory readings of urban space. A focus on the urban imaginary as a specific kind of cultural and political constellation bridges diverse fields such as architecture, geography, philosophy, social psychology, and science and technology studies.
