From the Principal Gracious God, We are grateful for the kindness and generosity You show us every day. We ask that You help us to see those around us in the same way that You do. Shape our hearts to be like Yours, and guide our hands by Your spirit in showing kindness and generosity to others today. Amen

Welcome to our Week 6 newsle er. I would like to invite our community to our Annual Community Mee ng on Tuesday 20 November at 6.00pm in the hall. The ACM is not only a way for the SAC and P&F to report on the year, it is also a chance to celebrate our achievements. Light refreshments will be available a er the ACM. As the school year draws to a close, on behalf of our students, I just wanted to thank the various parent groups who have given up their me to run spor ng groups, gradua on and out of school camps. These parent commi ees are part of what makes IJS so special. As these groups are a tradi onal event organised by parents, there have been some changes due to the requirements that the school has. To con nue to be run as they have been, events or teams that are run solely by the parents need to be run as their own separate iden ty with their independent bank accounts. Parents are then free to organise their groups as they have done so in the past without the constraints placed upon the school. We look forward to suppor ng the various commi ees in 2024. Thank you to those who have sent in requests to the class teacher or the o ce in regards to class alloca ons for 2024 - requests have now closed as we are working on classes now. While we do our best to accomodate requests, due to the complexi es of this process, they may not all be able to be accommodated. We thank you for your understanding. As classes are busy preparing for their end of year excursions, there are also a number of end of year events occurring across the school over the next two weeks. Our School Choir will be singing at Li le Sisters of the Poor, on Monday. On Thursday 23 November we have our Thanksgiving Mass for our volunteers. We are looking forward to the P&F Disco on Friday 24 November. Our Kindy 2024 students have their Informa on night on the 27 November and their Orienta on on the 28 November. We also have our Kindy Concert on the 29 November and our Pre-Primary Assembly on the 30 November. Enjoy the rest of the week

Advent is about wai ng as God’s people had spent centuries longing and wai ng for the day the Messiah would come. Advent is not about passive wai ng. It is an ac ve me of wai ng during which Chris ans are invited to respond to God’s Spirit in their lives. People do not have to wait centuries for the coming of Jesus any more. They now know and remember the story of the birth of Jesus at Christmas. They remember that Jesus ful lled the promise of the prophets [Ma hew 1:22-23]. It is s ll very important for Chris ans to prepare their hearts for Jesus. Chris ans should remember the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. Coun ng down the days of Advent can help people consider what it must have been like wai ng for the promised Messiah. People can count down the days of Advent leading to Christmas with an Advent calendar. Advent calendars are one way to focus the an cipa on and excitement of Christmas and preparing for the birth of baby Jesus.

We are Called

Year One

Year One Stepping Back in Time In Year One we have been learning all about the past. Earlier in the term, we interviewed our grandparents to nd out what life was like when they were our age. We’ve been busy crea ng a digital book to show our ndings and share them with our families. This week we’ve been looking at how technologies have changed over me. We made predica ons about what certain, unknown objects were used for, before nding out their real use. Wow, did we get some surprises from what we learnt!
