From the Principal Loving God Help us to teach our children that you love us totally and uncondi onally. Help us to encourage our children to grow in love and to learn how to say sorry, knowing that you always forgive. Give us the courage to pray with our children and to share our faith with them as we journey together. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
Welcome to Week 4. Our Year Three students today par cipated in their Reconcilia on retreat at the Parish Hall. There are a lot of resources for parents and you are welcome to sign up for a free parent account at h ps://urstrong.com/parents/ so that you can access the resources as a family. There are a number of events over the next few weeks, which parents are more than welcome to a end. On Thursday 9 November the Year One classes have been busy preparing for their assembly. We are Called Sacrament of Reconcilia on
Today our Year Three children are con nuing their prepara on to receive the Sacrament of Reconcilia on at the Retreat at the Parish Centre. On Monday 6 November and Thursday 9 November they will receive the Sacrament of Reconcilia on. This is a very signi cant me in their lives and in their faith journey. It is also a very important me for their families, their teachers, the school and the parish community.
Socktober
Last week all students had the opportunity to par cipate in Socktober and support the work Catholic Mission through bringing in their dona ons and having fun trying to kick soccer goals. Sincere thanks to all the families who generously donated to this fundraiser which will assist Catholic Mission and the people in Timor-Leste.
The Sacrament of Reconcilia on is a truly special and wonderful gi that the children, and everyone who has received this sacrament, has the opportunity to par cipate in as o en as they like. Through the Sacrament of Reconcilia on people ask God for forgiveness. When people make a wrong choice they need to be able to make a new start with God. People make a new start with God through the Sacrament of Reconcilia on. When people celebrate the Sacrament of Reconcilia on, they go through a process, they: · re ect on their lives · take responsibility for their wrong words and ac ons · understand that their words and ac ons a ect themselves, their rela onships with God, family, friends, the Church family and the world community · say sorry · ask for forgiveness · promise to make an e ort to avoid making the same mistake again

Science Pre Primary Toys That Move This term in Pre-Primary Science we have been learning about Physical Sciences. This includes exploring toys and the way they move such as spinning, rolling, sliding or bouncing. We made a spinning helicopter toy and tested it out on the playground. Finding the highest spot to y our helicopter was lots of fun.
Science Year 1 Super Sounds This term in Year 1 Science we have been learning about Physical Sciences. This includes exploring how we hear through vibra ons.

The children enjoyed making a cup phone and tes ng if they heard their friend be er with a ght straight string or a relaxed string.
Health Year 6 The Year Six students, have been engaged in health lessons that emphasise the signi cance of communica on skills in building and maintaining rela onships. To kick o this posi ve rela onship unit of work, the students were treated to a deligh ul and humorous video featuring two baby twins engaging in an in-depth conversa on with each other, using only non-verbal communica on. This video served as a heartwarming example of how e ec ve communica on transcends language and connects people on a deeper level. Students then prac sed their non-verbal communica on skills by role-playing li le scenarios, non-verbally, for their friends to guess.
Year 3 & 4 In Year Three and Four, students discussed having a strong sense of selfcompassion and understanding and/as the art of being a good friend to themselves.

Our Safe Houses This term in health, we have been focusing on protec ve behaviours and strategies we can implement when we feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
ti
ti
During this lesson, we were asked to think about the people we know in our lives who can help us if we ever feel this way. We discussed the quali es that these people would need to be one of the four we chose to draw into our “Safe Houses.” They had to be an adult that we would trust to believe, listen and help us should we ever feel the need to reach out.

Public Rela ons Ministry
All the members enjoy gathering together and collabora ng with each other to decide who will be leading the assembly and which members will read out the cer cates. We take pride in our roles and since the beginning of the semester, we have all learned a lot.
Chris an Service Ministry In the Chris an Service Ministry, we aim to be helpful, responsible and respec ul role-models to our Infant Jesus School Community. Our goals are to organise events and fundraisers which help our school generously donate to various chari es. This semester, the Chris an Service Ministry have been working hard to raise money for Socktober. This is an event that is hosted worldwide to raise money for families in Timor-Leste. The money raised, goes towards improving their everyday life. Socktober was hosted in Week 3, where each class had 20 minutes to score as many goals as they could using a sock ball. To par cipate students brought in a gold coin to donate to the Socktober charity. As a school we managed to raise a spectacular $349! Currently, we have been extremely busy planning and organising ways to raise money for the St. Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal. As a group, the Chris an Service Ministry, plan to visit classrooms. While doing this, we are educa ng the children about the work that St. Vincent De Paul do and how their dona ons can help. We are posi ve that this year’s Christmas Appeal will be a huge success. This Semester, we have enjoyed our me as leaders of the school and we hope our work has been helpful to students, teachers and the chari es we work hard to donate to.
Wellness Ministry In the Wellness Ministry, we discuss and focus on the wellbeing and tness of the students at Infant Jesus School. We have ensured that the sports shed is organised and easily accessible and we have provided sport equipment to each class so that they can move and have fun at recess and lunch.

Technologies ChatGPT What is ChatGPT? ChatGPT is a computer program that uses ar cial intelligence (AI) to generate text. Launched by research company OpenAI, it gathers large amounts of data from the internet to create responses on demand. ChatGPT is unique because its answers are in conversa onal format, similar to how people write and speak. It can write essays and computer code, solve math problems, and much more. h ps://d1pmarobgdhgjx.cloudfront.net/paren p/what-is-chatgpt.mp4
Should children use ChatGPT? OpenAI's Terms of Use state that users must be 13 or older. If you're under 18, you need your parent or guardian's permission to create an account. Keep in mind that kids could come across content that's not age-appropriate. In addi on, ChatGPT collects personal informa on and user data. This info is used to improve the system and can be shared with third par es for things like adver sing. Under the Children's Online Privacy Protec on Act (COPPA), collec ng personal informa on from children under the age of 13 is illegal without parental consent. If kids are interested in using ChatGPT, the best op on is to use it alongside an adult. Kids could use ChatGPT with a parent or caregiver to get ideas about things they're interested in, like wri ng code or music. Families can explore the tool together and try prompts that are fun, inspiring, or helpful. Ask it to write a play with parts for everyone, or put together a poem in Yoda's style to read out loud. Since ChatGPT is a new program, there's a lot we don't know about it. As ar cial intelligence tools become more available, it will be important for families to talk with kids about how to use them appropriately and responsibly.

If your children use or want to use ChatGPT, consider talking about these topics: • Explain the importance of checking the credibility of a source before trus ng the informa on, and point out that ChatGPT does not give sources for its informa on. • Help them understand that plagiarism is when you take someone else's work or ideas and present them as your own. Using ChatGPT to do your schoolwork could be considered plagiarism or chea ng. • Talk about how you might use ChatGPT as a family to be crea ve or get inspired. Have it create a list of outdoor ac vi es for kids, or ask it to suggest a cra project to try.
Technologies Year Six In Year 6, our students created posters and videos about ChatGPT and how to use it responsibly. This ac vity not only encouraged their crea vity but also ins lled the importance of ethical and respec ul technology use. Through this ac vity, our students demonstrated their understanding of how to interact with AI in a responsible and considerate manner, helping them become digital ci zens who use technology to bene t themselves and society.
