A Study of Sustainable Development Regarding to Value Education Ram Raheesh Assist. Professor, Department of Teacher Education (B.Ed.), M.L.K. (P.G.) College, Balrampur (UP) Abstract: Development is very important for human life. It is very necessary for civilization also but it should be sustainable and welfarist for all organisms. This research paper focused on how to achieve sustainable development through value education, why values so important for sustainable development & how to give values education for sustainable development. The researcher completed 14 days refresher course on sustainable development, during this period listened many resource parsons with great knowledge on various aspect of sustainable development and read many books, reports, articles/papers on sustainable development and reached this conclusion that sustainable development cannot be achieved without values.

Keywords: Sustainable Development & Value Education I. INTRODUCTION The concept of sustainable development came from the World Commission on Environment and Development Report- 1987 “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” More recently, the United Nations created the Sustainable Development Goals which set out 17 tangible aspects of sustainable development. These goals recognise that we cannot strive to end poverty or improve economic development without considering health, equality and the environment.

I think sustainable development cannot be achieved without values because after completing of the refresher course and listening many resource parsons with great knowledge on various aspect of sustainable development, and read many books, reports, articles/papers on sustainable development, I reached this conclusion that all types of development including sustainable development are jointly related with human behaviour.

So, here is necessary need to control human behaviour. Here is a big question that how to control human behaviour?

1) Can I control it by the law?

2) Can I control it by the force?

3) Can I control it by the theoretical knowledge?

I think No, On the behalf of past history of human behaviour we can say, it cannot be control by these options because the human behaviour govern by his inner. So here is necessary need to change the inner of the human. So, that the value education is the best solution to change inner of the human.

A. What is Value Education?

Value education is the process by which people give moral values to each other (Pwoney et al.) It can be an activity that can take place in any human organisation during which people are assisted by others, who may be older, in a condition experienced to make explicit our ethics in order to assess the effectiveness of these values and associated behaviour for their own and others' long term well-being, and to reflect on and acquire other values and behaviour which they recognise as being more effective for long term well-being of self and others. There is a difference between literacy and education.

B. Why Values So Important for Sustainable Development?

There are following reason of the importance of the values for sustainable development1) The values are capable to kill the negative things in the minds of men and women. All negative things born in the minds of men and women and values defeated them in the minds of men and women.

2) The values are the permanent solution of the problems because values are not important only for the sustainable development but are important for the all types of problems of human life.

3) Values make the human sincere, sensitive, scientific, honest, responsible, co-operative & tolerable.

4) Values change inner of the human permanently.

5) Helpful to improve the integral growth of the human.

6) Helpful to understand the fundamental rights and duties 7) Values give the sustainable life style.

II. HOW TO GIVE VALUE EDUCATION Regarding to value education I reached this conclusion that Value education should be given by these mannersA. B. C. D. E. F. G.

Here is no need to given value education, value should be constructed in the minds of men and women.

Value education should be given by the values.

The character should be constructed by the character.

Honesty should be teach through the honesty Moral education should be given by the morality.

Emphasis should be behavioural aspects of education Follow-up programmes should be conducted

CONCLUSION Overall conclusion is that development is nothing without sustainability, sustainability depends on human behaviour, human behaviour governs his inner and human inner can be change in positive form through values. The past history of human life is victim that when the people were live with values then their behaviour was very caring towards nature, animal and every person. They did not achieve any goal at the cost of nature because their inner was not giving permission to do any work which is harmful for any creature. At present time almost people want to achieve goal at any cost because they do not live with values. Other things like law & force are not capable to change human’s inner because law and force do attack on the outside part of the human. All negative things born in the minds of men and women and values defeated them in the minds of men and women. The values are the permanent solution of the problems because values do attack on the inner part of human. Values are not important only for the sustainable development but are important for the many types of problems of human life. So, it is clear that values are very important for sustainable development and human life.
