Urban dispersion processes in metropolitan areas have led to patterns of urban sprawl.In a town and city planning, the urban problems are in terms of housing, traffic congestion, parking problem, land utilization, water and electricity supply, garden development, waste disposal, slums, pollution. Kolhapur is a very ancient city. Kolhapur is one of the most important cities of Maharashtra. Last three to four decades, Kolhapur city has observed rapid growth. It is undoubtedly true that the population of the city increased very fast after independence.
