this long and august history, and the DOC region is marked by a focus on indigenous grapes and a drive to retain or rebuild the rich historical inheritance of the land and its people. This month we are sending you wines from the family-run winery Pupillo.

The Pupillo Family farm was founded in 1909, and is based on the ancient fief of Targia. A fertile site that had been farmland under Greek, Roman, Arab, and Norman possession, and is marked with remnants and artifacts from each of these cultures.

The current winemaker, Nino, graduated in agricultural sciences in the 70s, being one of the first of his family to understand the utmost importance of good practices in agriculture, notably regarding biodiversity, organic farming and regular monitoring of soil and groundwater.

He was also the first winegrower in his province to undertake a serious project for the recovery of the Siracusa DOC label, about to be deleted due to lack of producers. He is now focused on producing excellent wine from indigenous grapes and building up the reputation of this incredible area. We are sending you their finest wines from the grapes of the region that they believe best represent Siracusa and Sicily itself.
