West Midlands - The Chronic Pain Management Service

The Chronic Pain Management Service has set up a pain management programme aimed at helping patients who have chronic pain to have a better quality of life. The programme takes place over eight weeks and has up to ten patients participating in each session. Lasting for two hours, sessions include educational slots about subjects such as pain medication, relaxation and the benefits of exercise.

These may potentially help someone overcome the symptoms of chronic pain. Each attendee also receives a booklet with relevant information from each of the sessions, this can then be utilised after the programme has concluded and used for reference. Chronic pain patients often feel isolated because of their pain so to have a programme that builds a community is beneficial for them. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the programme was recently moved online. The first virtual programme, we are pleased to say, has been successful.
