Post-EMR 11 Programs Overview

Dear Delegates, EMR-11 Organizing Committee proudly presents to you the three post-EMR trips, as promised they are awesome, fun and highly intellectual and educational at the same time.

First available trip is the beauty of the red-sea:

Details: “Sonesta pharaoh Beach Resort 5 STARS” From 10/02/2014 till 13/02/2014 (4 Days- 3 Nights)

( Double standard – 195 USD per person)

Included:1- Accommodation (4 Days - 3 Nights). " Delegates shall leave the EMR venue on the 10th of February early morning and return back to Cairo on the 13th of February late evening.

2- Half board basis at the hotel " Breakfast & Dinner" and Launch will be provided during the day trips mentioned below 3-Transportation from Cairo to Hurghada and vice versa.

4- First day of arrivals will be free tour withng the city, Chilling at the resort to relax after the meeting, then the following day trips will come up.

5- Giftun Tour.  Pick up from the hotel to the boat.  Snorkeling equipment are included.  Two times snorkeling stop.  Dinner on boat, one soft drink and one free bottle of water.  90 minutes on Giftun island.

6- Super quad safari.  Pick up from the hotel to quad station.  Driving the quad 45 km in 2 ways.  Visiting the Bedouin village, drink Bedouin tea and riding camels.  Visiting the terrarium to see the desert snakes & scorpions.  Tour in the Bedouin village to see the Bedouin life with full information about it from our guide.  Watch the Sunset.  Driving back to the quad station with night driving experience to take your Barbecue dinner, Soft drink, mineral water.  Smoke shisha while watching the show.  Star watching through our telescope.  Driving back to the hotel.

Sightseeing options: Alexandria Modern Library: The library is to provide both the national and international communities of scholars and researchers with unique collections and facilities focusing on Alexandrian, Egyptian, ancient and medieval civilizations as well as on contemporary disciplines. The Library also has valuable collections of science and technology resource materials to help the socio-economic and cultural development studies on Egypt and the region.

Pompeii’s Pillar & The Catacombs: Pompeii’s Pillar is a massive 25-meter tall pink granite pillar that measures 9 meters around its girth. When the Christian Crusaders came to Egypt they credited this to Pompeii, however the pillar is in fact all that remains of the very grand

Serapeum. The pillar was erected in 297 AD in the center of the Serapeum for Diocletian, and when the Crusaders came around 100 years later they destroyed the Serapeum and Cleopatra’s library leaving only the pillar standing.

Alexandria National Museum: The museum is located in a former Italianate mansion. It's the former home of a wood sales person. It used to house the United States Consulate.

It contains about 1,800 artifacts that narrate the story of Alexandria and Egypt.

Most of these pieces came from other Egyptian museums. The museum mainly focuses on three collections:Ancient Egyptian, Coptic, and the Muslim World. The museum also includes works from the Hellenistic period. The museum recently exhibited a sculpture which is believed to be of Alexander the Great.

Qaitbay Fort Which was built around 1480 A.D by the Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay. It is believed to rest on the site and to be built from the stones of the Pharos lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Nearby is a small navel museum, which was mostly devoted to Nelson's defeat of Napoleon's fleet right off the coast of Alexandria on August 1-2, 1798
