Moustafa El Badry Head of OC
Dear IFMSA-Egypt Incoming, The national weekend is the biggest exchange event for IFMSAEgypt. Since it started back in 2009, the NWE has been greatly anticipated every year. Currently we are going through critical times in the history of our country, that echoes on Egypt’s world wide image. A lot of concerns have been raised regarding Egypt’s security status, that’s why organizing such a big social event – gathering more than 100 medical students from all over Egypt in one place – is a big challenge, which we believe IFMSA – Egypt’s Exchange Team is capable of handling.
The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations – Egypt (IFMSA – Egypt) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit studentrun organization that represents more than 70,000 Medical Students all over Egypt. IFMSA – Egypt is represented through 12 active SCOPE/SCORE Local Committees in the following Medical Schools: Ain Shams, Alexandria, Assuit, Al-Azhar Cairo, Banha, Kasr ElAiny, Mansoura, Menofia, Sohag, Suez Canal, Tanta and Zagazig.
IFMSA – Egypt is a full National Member Organization of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) which is the only official body of Medical Students worldwide made up of 100 Countries spanning all continents. IFMSA is officially recognized as a non-governmental organization within the United Nations (UN) and it is also recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the official international forum for medical students. Our mission in IFMSA – Egypt is to offer future Egyptian Physicians a comprehensive introduction to global health issues by taking part in the international medical students’ community to broaden their spectrum and reach their full potential. Our themes cover all major Health topics and Medical-students-related interests and they are: Public Health, Reproductive Health & AIDS, Human Right & Peace, Medical Education and Professional & Research Exchange.
It is the 1st time to host IFMSA – Egypt National Weekend in Hurghada. Stunning coral reefs and the turquoise waters that are perfect for windsurfing have made Hurghada – on Egypt’s Red Sea Coast – a busy resort town. Within easy reach of the marvelous islands and the Eastern Arabian Desert, Hurghada has seen enormous amounts of development in the past decade and now stretches 25 miles along the Red Sea. Some of the World’s best diving and snorkeling sites are just offshore. Walk or get a cab to explore old quarter El Dahar.
