EMPLOYEE Welcome Aboard We would like to welcome Brandy James into our CCAA Family. Brandy joins the team as Director of Finance.

Brandy has more than 20 years of extensive financial experience and comes to CCAA after nearly 3 years as CFO at Richland County Recreation Commission. In this role, she oversaw Finance, Procurement and DBE Operations. Prior to Richland County Recreation Commission, Brandy served as Senior Analyst, Senior Accountant, and Auditor III at SCANNA, a regulated electric and natural gas public utility. Brandy also worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and served as staff accountant at Moore Kirkland & Beauston, LLP. Brandy is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Master of Science in Accountancy and BS in Accounting— both degrees are from the College of Charleston.

Happy Retirement After 9 years of service with CCAA, our very own Kay Motley is soaring to higher heights.

Retirement! Kay joined the Authority in 2012, after a stellar career as Manager of Old South Carriage Company in Charleston.

Kay started out at the Information Desk and later transferred to the Administrative office where she performed numerous functions as an Administrative Assistant II. We will miss Kay’s smiling face and wonderful personality.

She’ll be missed but never forgotten!

Real ID Deadline Extended The Department of Homeland Security has announced that the full enforcement date for REAL ID will be extended once again from Oct. 1, 2021, to May 3, 2023, due to circumstances resulting from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Officials say the pandemic has significantly impacted states’ ability to issue REAL ID-compliant driver’s licenses and identification cards, with many driver’s licensing agencies still operating at limited capacity.

Donation to Feeding America On April 30th two pallets of food originally intended for JetBlue’s cross-country flights to LAX were donated to Feeding America. Due to the decreased demand for flights to Los Angeles, CCAA In-Flight Kitchen employees were tasked with a surplus of food. CCAA In-flight Kitchen employees pictured with the Food Bank representative are Dimetrius Porter and Maeling Schenck.

CCAA Gift Procedures

Benefit Update

As a token of our appreciation, throughout the year CCAA may provide employees swag gifts, gift cards, time off, or end of the year bonus, etc.

For tax purposes, these amounts may show on your check as gifts under earnings and gifts under deductions.

Except for gift cards, gifts under $50.00 are not taxable.

Benefit changes will take place on June 1, 2021. Your elections will show on your June 4th pay summary. Please review all your benefit information carefully. If you elected a benefit and are not being charged for it, or if you are being charged for a benefit you did not choose, please notify Rhonda Graham immediately. Corrections not made priot to June 30, 2021 can not be made until open enrollment in October unless you have a qualifying event (e.g., marriage, divorce, a family addition).

Birthday gift cards are grossed up (meaning we pay the taxes). A check stub is then generated in Paylocity with a net sum zero. No deduction is taken from an employee’s check.

If you have questions or would like to exempt yourself from receiving gifts from the authority, please contact Human Resources.

May is National Hurricane Awareness Month Be ready for hurricane season.

Today you can determine your personal hurricane risk, find out if you live in a hurricane evacuation zone, and review/ update insurance policies. You can also make a list of items to replenish hurricane emergency supplies and start thinking about how you will prepare your home for the coming hurricane season. This video will show you how to build a hurricane emergency kit.

Two chances to win: Test your knowledge and be entered into a drawing by completing the hurricane crossword puzzle and/or NOAA scavenger hunt. You can obtain copies from a safety representative or HR. Copies are also in the Common Drive, CCAA_Safety Committee / Activites. These can be return to Essence Wolfe in HR. A copy of the 2021 Hurricane name list will be posted on the HR bulletin boards.

Covid-19 Update Although CCAA is required to follow FSA guidelines, the CDC recently loosened restrictions on vaccinated individuals. According to the CDC, now fully vaccinated people can: • Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing • Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing • Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic Need help deciding what you should and should not do after you have been completely immunized? The New York Times has a fun tool that helps you decide how safe an activity is for a vaccinated individual. Check it out here.

Maintenance Department

Congratulations to members of our Security Department for receiving AAAE’s Excellence Award for Airport Training for a second year in a row.

Team CHS completed over 50 courses and is listed as #1 for training among small hub airports. Keep up the great work Crystal and Sandy.

A special thanks to the Maintenance Department for their hard work in finishing some Spring Cleaning around CHS just in time for our busy month of May!

On another note, our Security department received flying colors from the Transportation Security Administration following its annual audit of all security records for compliance. Team CHS scored 100 in meeting all requirements under 49CFR 1542.

Keep an eye out for updates in and around the airport, and give a shout out to the Maintenance Team for their hard work!
