Rialto rookie team ‘The Magnificent 10’ advances to First Lego League Southern California Championship

Rialto robotics rookie team ‘The Magnificent 10’ from Casey Elementary accepted the challenge, gaining overall points in completed missions during the 3rd annual FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition qualifying tournament at Rialto Middle School Nov. 12. The team advances to the Dec. 3 and 4 First Lego League Southern California Championship at Legoland. Twenty teams and nearly 170 youngsters from throughout Southern California participated in the annual event, marking this year’s competition as the largest qualifying LEGO tournament in the Inland-area, said Rod Campbell, event organizer and Robotics, cont. on next pg.

Rialto tree lighting and holiday parade
T
he City of Rialto will host its annual Holiday Parade, Vendor Fair and Tree Lighting Ceremony December 3. The event takes place at the Rialto Civic Center, 150 S. Palm Ave. The holiday parade begins at 10 a.m. along Etiwanda Avenue. Holiday Parade begins at 10:00 am. Festivities will include vendors and musical performances. Guests are asked to bring canned food items and a new toy as a donation to benefit Rialto Child Assistance and Rialto Police Department’s Hearts to Share program.
