Longtime Rialto resident Mary McCombs turns 100
By Yazmin Alvarez
hen Mary McCombs turned 100 April 4, the longtime Rialto resident said she received so many flower arrangements that one would have thought they were celebrating her wake. “They were all so lovely,” she said, of the flowers, cards and good wishes received at her centennial party held later. But don’t think for one second that McCombs lives a sedentary lifestyle. The widow of former Rialto Mayor Ray McCombs, sticks to a schedule and is still active. Daily, she has oatmeal for breakfast, a cookie with her lunch and one glass of wine with dinner. Fridays are reserved for a must hair appointment, and once a month she volunteers as a docent with the Rialto Historical Society. “I like to keep myself pretty busy. You have to, it keeps you from getting rusty,” she said. McCombs 100, cont. on next pg.
