an Flores, a Colton Joint Unified School Board Member and the current Chief of Staff for departing San Bernardino County Supervisor Josie Gonzales, announced Tuesday that he is running for Fifth District Supervisor in 2020. “For the past 14 years I’ve worked side by side with Supervisor Gonzales to improve the quality of life and economic opportunities in the Fifth District,” said Flores. “We have built new libraries, hundreds of new senior and family housing units, along with new facilities and improved parks for families. I’m proud to have earned Supervisor Gonzales’ endorsement, and I plan to build on our success.” In addition to being Supervisor Gonzales’ Chief of Staff, Flores has served as President and as a board member for the Colton Joint Unified School District Flores, cont. on next pg.

he community is encouraged to attend the 2nd Annual CJUSD Family Reading Con, to be held from 10 AM – 3 PM on Saturday, March 2 at Joe Baca Middle School. This fun and FREE family event takes place on what would have been Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss’s) 115th birthday and will be a fun celebration of literacy. This event is co-sponsored by the non-profit Inlandia Institute, San Bernardino County Library System and Colton Community Services (Colton Public Library). “We are proud to offer this fun, free family event to promote literacy in our district,” noted CJUSD Superintendent Jerry Almendarez. “Hosting this event on what would have been Dr. Seuss’s 115th birthday is especially exciting!” Literacy, cont. on next pg.
