In 1901, Colton resident, Seth Hartley built an electric street car line, the San Bernardino Valley Traction Company which was later acquired by the Pacific Electric Company. Henry E. Huntington’s immense electric railway system in southern California was complete, when in 1914, a line was at last built connecting Los Angeles with San Bernardino and the Eastern Division of the Pacific Electric Railway. It had tremendous benefits for the people of the San Bernardino area, especially in connecting them with the “larger world” that this travel made available to them.
The meeting will be held at the Colton Area Museum (CAM), 380 N. La Cadena Drive in Colton, CA, and is free and opened to the public. For more information: 951-283-4860 or 9 0 9 - 8 2 5 - 0 6 7 1 , www.ColtonAreaMuseum.com
