Greetings, The holiday season is filled with the jubilation of family, friends, and colleagues as we celebrate the success of the year that’s about to end and look ahead to the promise of a new, exciting year for our business and yours.

The year 2016 will be remembered for many successes, most notably the world-record setting Powerball jackpot last January. In addition, though, the Lottery has enjoyed success with the launch and game acceptance of two new Idaho-only, InstaPlay games – $10 Big Money Jackpot and $20 Ultimate Diamond Jackpot. There was also measurable success with the new addition on Idaho Pick 3, the Sum it Up! feature lifted overall daily sales. The overall patchwork of games enabled us to have our most successful year in Idaho Lottery history, as we returned $49.5 million to our good causes, Public Education and the State’s Permanent Building Fund. In addition, you, our valued retail partners, earned $13.8 million in hard earned commissions for your work. Thank you.

Ringing in the New Year will guarantee Idaho’s newest millionaire from the always popular Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle. Our Valentine’s Day game, Hogs & Kisses, will debut in mid-January and looking ahead to the spring, we’ll be launching a new Idaho only Draw Game, Idaho Cash, and offering players a mini-Raffle around St. Patrick’s Day. During the holidays, please join me and the Lottery in supporting responsible play. Many players purchase tickets as gifts and stocking stuffers during the season, but we also want to remind them to play what they can afford, and, that it is never appropriate to give Lottery products to minors.

Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle Update!

The chilly days of December bring more holiday shopping, cheer, and a reminder that your player’s chance at $1,000,000 on the Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle will soon end! Sales this year on Raffle are ahead of last year’s pace and tickets are really going fast. Three times in the game’s nine previous years Raffle has sold out BEFORE Christmas. Tell your players not to wait if they want their chance at $1,000,000. Remember, Raffle tickets make great stocking stuffers and gifts.

“I was 45 tickets away from the 25,000th ticket when that printed out.

So I told the cashier, who I’ve known for quite some time, to wait until I say GO to press the button to print the ticket,” said Keithley.

The button was pressed and the ticket printed, and the rest is history!

Jack and his wife are building their first home, so this money will go toward the “accessory fund” for the house!

JACK KEITHLEY WINS FIRST 25000TH TICKET PRIZE!

Jack was finishing up packing for his family’s hunting trip. “I had bought two Raffle tickets for the Early Bird promotion, and when I did, I was 400 away from ticket #025000,” said Jack Keithley of Middleton.

With a couple things left on his to-do list, Jack left the store. After running a quick errand, he remembered that he had to pick up some drinks, so Jack stopped by 44 Quick Stop in Caldwell and also picked up another Raffle ticket.

The Idaho Lottery has a brand NEW draw game launching February 15, 2016. Idahoans take pride in their state and the Idaho Lottery needed a game that would live up to their expectations. Idaho Cash is an Idaho only game offering adventure for Idaho players.

Scratch for Schools Wrap Up

Four of the final six schools sat next to one another on the last row of tables in the Lewis-Clark State College Activity Center. Three of the four were previous event champions. Their challenge, five grueling minutes of feverish scratching to earn themselves the title “Fastest Scratching School” for north-central Idaho, and win prize money for their schools. When the latex settled, Troy Jr./Sr. High squeaked past Timberline Elementary from Weippe by just 7 tickets to claim the title and their winnings.

Scratch for Schools in 2016 was a year for record participation from mid-October through early November, with 464 attending one of eight events held across the Gem State. All totaled, the schools collected over $89,000 in prize winnings. During the largest Scratch-off event ever held in Idaho, 110 schools at Century Link Arena in Boise, the fifteen year-old program returned its $1 millionth dollar back to assist public schools.

Gary Messinger and his wife were heading home after hitting a bucket of golf balls at the Boise Ranch Golf Course when they stopped by Maverik: Adventure’s First Stop, on Lake Hazel and Cloverdale to grab a drink and some Lottery tickets.

“Along with playing Weekly Grand, I usually play the same Scratch ticket for a couple of weeks, and then switch to another,” said Messinger.

Gary had just started playing Perfect 10 and this was the second ticket he’d purchased. He had the clerk scan the barcode. After hearing the bells and whistles, the clerk immediately said “sign the ticket, you need to go to the Lottery office!”

“I was overjoyed, I thought I’d won $1,000!” said Gary after hearing of his win.

Several people started gathering around Gary, including the manager of the store, because everyone wanted to see the ticket.

He had only scratched off the barcode at the time, so he went on to scratch the rest of the ticket. The one number that matched the winning numbers and your numbers was 14.

Underneath the number 14, $100,000!

“The only hard part about winning $100,000 was that I won it on Saturday,” added Gary. “I haven’t slept very well the last two night’s in excitement to bring the ticket in Monday.”

Gary plans to help those close to him with his winnings. He feels that’s how this money that came into his life is meant to be used.

“We will likely treat ourselves and go on vacation, but a good portion of this will be to help those in our family,” he said when he claimed his prize.
