Halloween has just past, signaling the beginning of the Christmas Holiday Season.

Despite all the noise, we all have much to be thankful for. Idaho’s economy is the best in the nation and is providing a prosperous environment. We see it in tickets sales such as our recent success with the Big Spin. This game had nearly a million tickets and claimed out faster than any other game with that quantity of tickets. That meant additional foot traffic to your stores. It was so successful, a second version of the Big Spin was ordered and shipped to your stores on October 24, 2022. And throughout October, we enjoyed the benefits of large Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots.

On October 21, the sixteenth edition of the Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle launched with great success. This all culminates with what will be tremendous resources for our beneficiaries. However, our mission is more than the big dividend.

I’m always amazed at the enthusiasm Team Lottery has for our mission. I have the privilege of listening to the chatter and watching the fun as we prepare to visit one of Idaho’s schools for a Bucks for Books or Classroom Wishlist presentation. These Do Good programs are making a fundamental difference in the lives of Idaho’s school children and in the awareness of the good we do among educators all over the Gem State.

We are working with the Idaho Commission for Libraries on the finishing touches of this year’s Bucks for Books award recipients. To date we have made 26 Classroom Wishlist awards to schools from Preston to Sandpoint. Our players continue to support our good efforts, and Team Lottery are embracing the opportunities to make a difference for education.

During this gift giving season, the Idaho Lottery would like to remind everyone to “gift” Lottery tickets responsibly. You must be 18 years old to buy, sell, or redeem Lottery products in Idaho.

The Idaho Lottery made a special, “Back-to-School” Classroom Wishlist visit to Hibbard Elementary School in Rexburg in late September delivering 556 new books, reading furniture, and book storage to Remi Burton’s 3rd grade classroom.

“When I was a third grader, my grandma told me, ‘If you read you succeed, if you don’t, you won’t.’ I want to foster a lifelong love of reading in these eight and nine-year-old students, that if they read, they’ll succeed,” said Remi Burton. “Each year I challenge my 3rd grade students to complete a 20-book reading challenge, and that’s what these books are for.”

In addition to the 556 books, Burton’s classroom received baskets and cubbies for easy storage and specialized, mod-blocks flexible seating to create a more welcoming reading environment.

“I want to create a space where all my students can feel safe, find books they love, and be comfortable while reading them,” added Burton.

Burton’s students opened boxes delivered by the Idaho Lottery on Tuesday, and many were seen jumping around, smiling, and saying, “This is the best day ever!”

“I was really very fortunate. I think I sobbed when I opened the email that said that I received this, and I was just beyond ecstatic,” said Burton. “This is such a beautiful blessing. Thank you!”

‘OPERATION: GET MOM A HOUSE’ Longing to spend more time with her children, Rebecca Hooper, from Utah started taking them on regular road trips, something they all love doing together.

Rebecca’s kids soon suggested she drive just a few hours to Idaho so she could play the lottery in hopes of winning big for a down payment for a house. These road trips took on the name “Operation: Get Mom a House,” as the family would be sure to pick up some lottery tickets during their time away.

She would only buy a few tickets at a time and would use her family’s birthday when choosing potential winning numbers. On her most recent visit to KJs in Malad, Rebecca decided to play each set of birthdays for five draws on the game Idaho Cash.

The strategy paid off when she took home the $92,200 jackpot. “I can’t

“I am so thankful to have won and be closer to getting a house for me and my kids.”

CALDWELL WOMAN WINS $50,000 ON

In many respects, buying an Idaho Lottery Scratch ticket that wins a Big Spin Event is like finding the magical, golden ticket. For Cara Cepek, Caldwell, that’s exactly what happened when she bought, played, and won the sixth Big Spin winning ticket in the popular game that debuted in mid-July.

“I couldn’t believe it. One of my favorite movies is Charlie and Chocolate Factory, and for me, this was like finding my own

golden ticket,” Cepek explained during her Big Spin Event at Boise Towne Square.

With friends, family, and many onlookers, Cepek spun the Big Spin Wheel and won $50,000. Cara said she plans to save her winnings but might use some of it for a Caribbean cruise.

Cepek’s win officially ends the first version of the Big Spin. The Big Spin game is the most successful $5 Idaho Lottery Scratch Game in its 33-year history. The second edition of the Big Spin Scratch Game began arriving in Idaho Lottery retail locations on October 25. The new game also features six, Big Spin Event top prizes.

The Idaho Lottery is pleased to announce that Holly Aamodt (pronounced Ah-mit) joined the organization in early September and immediately began her training working at the Lottery’s event trailer during the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot. Holly came to the Idaho Lottery with a wide-ranging employment background, most recently with Sports Clips as a stylist.

She has also owned her own business and been a restaurant server while having other adventures that give her the amazing retail and customer service skills needed to be a successful Lottery Sales Representative.

Welcome Corrin Kidd!

Corrin started with the Idaho Lottery on Monday, October 24, 2022. She joins the Lottery from a varied background, most recently spending almost 20 years offering services to homeowners. Whether it was house sitting, house cleaning, or pet sitting and catering, Corrin has been involved in providing a lot of services to residents of the Treasure Valley. She has strong customer service skills that will help her transition to Lottery Sales Representative. Corrin was hired to fill a new sales route in the Treasure Valley.

She will train with Kristen Anderson and the Lottery’s new Sales Development Specialist, Kevin Cope.
