RING! FREEDOM LET
In honor of the United States of America’s 247th birthday, the Idaho Lottery is offering a month-long celebration with the $1 draw game, Lotto America.
Lotto America is an all-American game with an all-American jackpot prize that begins at $2 million and grows until it is won. Lotto America is as American as red, white, and blue, apple pie, and fireworks on the 4th of July. That’s why this promotion starts on July 4, 2023, and runs through August 4, 2023.
When players purchase at least $5 in a single transaction of Lotto America draw tickets, they’ll receive 1 draw ticket free! That’s six chances for $5 to win the jackpot.
To play Lotto America, players pick five numbers from 1 to 52. They then select one Star Ball number from 1 to 10. Each play costs $1. For an extra $1 per play, players can add the All-Star bonus to multiply their non-jackpot winning prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times.
And as always, players may ask for a quick pick. Multi-draw tickets can be produced for up to 15 consecutive advance draws. Lotto America draws winning numbers on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings at 9:00 pm MT.
Let your players know about the Lotto America promotion starting July 4th and Let FREEdom Ring!

RETAILER NEWSLETTER
Director’s Corner
American Naturalist Henry David Thoreau once said, “Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.” This statement is true for the fiscal year we have just busily completed which ended on June 30. It was a successful year in many ways.
The Idaho Lottery personally touched more Idaho public schools this year than ever before. They are why we do what we do.
The Idaho Lottery Do Good initiatives Scratch for Schools, Classroom Wishlist, and Bucks for Books made meaningful contributions to 540 school projects spread across more than 450 schools for a combined total of $326,000. These efforts make a difference in the classroom and, more importantly, in the hearts and minds of our educators and children.
On November 7, 2022 a new, world-record, single lottery prize excited players from all over the country when the Powerball jackpot reached $2.04 billion. Mega Millions jackpots surpassed the $1.3 billion mark twice during the year. These astonishing jackpots helped render the most ticket sales in a single year for the Idaho Lottery – over $420 million – all of which was sold by your businesses. These record sales will produce yet another record dividend that will eclipse $82 million for the first time.
When the Idaho Legislature fashioned the enabling legislation to create the Lottery in 1988, they ensured future economic opportunity from the sale of Lottery tickets was of benefit to businesses like yours. This past year, while we were all “too busy”, success didn’t waste time finding you, our valued retail partners. We are fortunate in the Gem State to have a strong, dedicated retailer network who this year earned more in commissions than ever before. Since 1989, Idaho Lottery retailers have earned more than $300 million from the sale of tickets – one transaction at a time. Thank you for your support.
Happy Selling,
WEDDING BELLS ARE RINGING
In the traditional board game of MONOPOLYTM, there is a Community Chest Card where players receive $25 for marrying a happy couple. Sometimes, life itself imitates art and board games.
On a mid-May, Monday morning, Zoie Korsmyer and her fiancé Chase arrived at the Idaho Lottery with a $5,000 winning MONOPOLYTM Super Ticket. It was a big win that almost didn’t happen. But as luck would intervene, it will provide the basis for the young couple to actually get married.
“We got engaged last November, but because we don’t have the finances, we were thinking we were going to have to put the wedding off,” explained an excited Zoie. “But now, with this win, we’ll be able to get married in October!”
Zoie further explained how she got the winning ticket from her neighborhood store, the Jacksons/Extra Mile on Amity at the Happy Valley roundabout.
“I had played two tickets and one was a $15 winner. I took it back inside to cash it and get another one,” described Zoie. “I was waiting in line and the guy behind me saw the ticket and thought it looked like fun and told me that he was going to get one, too. I was ahead of him in line, but we were separated and went to two different clerks at the same time. He asked for a ticket and so did I. But since I was in line in front of him, I got the next ticket and it won $5,000!”
Like love, some things are meant to be. Congratulations to Zoie and Chase and be sure to send us wedding photos from the ceremony!
NAMPA WAREHOUSE WORKER WINS $75,000 ON BIG SPIN
“This is unreal!” exclaimed Tim Rowland when he claimed his winning Big Spin ticket and found out he would be visiting Boise Towne Square for a chance to win up to $125,000. The warehouse worker from Nampa bought his ticket after work last week from the Maverik by the sugar beet factory on Northside Boulevard.
“My wife Laura and I play $20 a week. We get Big Spin, Monopoly, maybe a $10 ticket,” explained Rowland about when he got the ticket. “When I got the first digital spin, and saw it, it didn’t show on the screen that I’d won any money. It said I had to contact the Lottery. I thought I’d won $1,000.”
The long-time Canyon County resident showed up for his Big Spin at Boise Towne Square early on Wednesday afternoon before a crowd of 50 people including friends and family. His spin earned him $75,000.
Rowland would like to use his winnings to find a home in the Treasure Valley.
This was the second top prize-winning ticket from the third edition of the popular game, The Big Spin. Since debuting last summer, 14 players have won the chance to participate in The Big Spin event. There are four top prize tickets remaining in this edition, each with the opportunity to visit Boise Towne Square and spin the big wheel for a chance to win up to $125,000.

BABY CHICKEN UPDATE
In April, we brought you a story about Nicole Weight’s 1st grade class science project at Ririe Elementary and their quest for baby chickens. As the school year in eastern Idaho wound to a close, Mrs. Weight sent in an update on the success of the program.
We would like to introduce you to Midnight, Miracle, Lightbulb, Thunder, Sapphire and Fluffball – the six baby chickens that hatched between April 18 and April 20, 2023.
Midnight was the first to hatch, arriving at 1:00 pm on April 18. The Olive Egger breed chicken was very healthy and arrived with black and yellow feathers.
The next to arrive was Miracle, born at 9:25 pm on April 18. Miracle had to be helped out of the shell. There was concern that Miracle might not make it. The Black Copper Maran chicken had bright yellow feathers and a note posted on April 19 showed that Miracle was “alive and well!!”
Lightbulb and Thunder both arrived on the morning of April 19. Lightbulb was an Olive Egger with gray and yellow feathers, and the lightest head colors. Lightbulb was healthy and moving. Thunder was doing very well and showed the darkest gray head colors. The Lavender Orpington chicken sported gray-black and yellow feathers.
Sapphire arrived on the afternoon of April 19, tired and with a little difficulty but doing well. Also, a Lavender Orpington chicken, Sapphire exhibited gray and yellow feathers and medium head colors.
The last baby chicken to arrive was Fluffball. Fluffball looked great upon arrival at 1:00 am in the morning! Of all the chickens, this Olive Egger was gray and the most solid of the gray birds in the class.
The students were eager learners and caretakers of their chickens, and then sent a heartfelt thank you to the Idaho Lottery’s Classroom Wishlist. At the end of the year, the baby chickens were given a good home at Mrs. Weight’s mother’s chicken coop on the family farm.
This is one lesson that these students will remember for a lifetime.
