SHARE THE LOVE WITH SWEETHEARTS Sweethearts, the beloved, heart-shaped candy brand best associated with Valentine’s Day, is the theme for the newest Idaho Lottery Scratch Game. For more than a century, the iconic Sweethearts brand and its conversational candies have been adored by generations with its original sayings centering around love and caring which are refreshed each year. The Idaho Lottery is the first Lottery in the world to feature these fun Sweethearts Valentine treats on a Scratch Game. “The Idaho Lottery is always forging new, creative relationships with other innovative companies,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “Almost everyone grew up with Sweethearts on Valentine’s Day. The nostalgia of this classic candy became a natural choice as the backdrop for our Valentine’s Scratch Game this year. And winning up to $50,000 gives great new meaning to the phrase, “Be Mine.”
“Being a good community partner is what good business is all about. We work with our local schools in Bryan, Ohio because there is great value in supporting education,” said Kirk Vashaw, CEO of Spangler Candy, maker of Sweethearts. “That’s why we are pleased to partner with the Idaho Lottery and their commitment to responsibly support schools in Idaho.” In addition to being the first Lottery in the world to partner with Sweethearts Candies, Idaho became the first Lottery to produce a $5 Scratch Game with 20 different scenes that include a classic list of the romantic phrases found on the delectable heart-shaped treats, like “Crush on U”, “Love Birds”, “I Luv U”, and “XOXO.” The game was produced and printed by the Idaho Lottery’s printing partner, Pollard Banknote. Sweethearts, the Scratch Game, went on sale in Idaho on December 27, 2022 and carries two sweet top prizes of $50,000.

Being a newlywed and graduating cosmetology school are just a handful of blessings for Caldwell’s Sandralicia Martinez this year. She finished 2022 on a high note when she won $80,000 from the Idaho Lottery after her Big Spin at Boise Towne Square in mid-December.
SANDRALICIA MARTINEZ WINS $80,000! Martinez rarely plays the Lottery, but not long after Thanksgiving she was at the Jacksons on Highway 20/26 in Caldwell and bought three Big Spin tickets. “After I bought my three, I noticed there was still one more. Like a Thanksgiving leftover, I couldn’t leave it, so I bought it, too. The last one turned out to be the big winner,” described Martinez on her winning ticket. “I had seen the Big Spin wheel outside H&M, but I didn’t think this really happened. Now it’s happening to me!” she said excitedly. Before a crowd of family, friends, and onlookers, Martinez gave the wheel a spin and won $80,000. She hopes to use her winnings on a down payment for a home for her new family. “Baby needs a new house for Christmas,” said Martinez who is six months pregnant with the couple’s first child. “This is wonderful! Thank you!”
