The Idaho Lottery celebrated 33 years, one-third of a century of fun and entertainment, by returning a record-setting annual dividend to the People of Idaho, $73 million, on July 19, 2022. The Idaho Lottery’s announcement came during a ceremony held at White Pine Elementary School in the Boise School District with current Speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives Scott Bedke and the Idaho Lottery Commission.

Building Fund Account for maintenance and operations projects and another $18,250,000 goes to the Department of Education’s Bond Levy Equalization Fund to pay the interest on Idaho Public School bonds. “I am so happy to once again receive a record-setting dividend from the Idaho Lottery on behalf of Idaho’s public schools,” Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra said. “For more than three decades, our districts and charter schools have looked to this generous gift for essential upgrades, repairs and maintenance of school buildings across the state. This year’s dividend of $45.6 million brings the total that Idaho schools have received from the lottery to $629 million over 33 years. That’s worth celebrating!” Pat Donaldson, Director of the Department of Administration’s Public Works Division, accepted a check for $27,375.000 on behalf of the State’s Permanent Building Fund. Permanent Building Fund dollars support maintenance and capital projects for State-owned facilities and Idaho’s public college and university buildings. "The Idaho Lottery dividend has been, year in and year out, the largest revenue source for the Permanent Building Fund,” said Donaldson. “These funds are essential Every dollar that is returned by the Idaho Lottery to local communities for schools is a dollar that did not come from taxes. After thirty-three years, that’s now $1.1 billion.” Idaho Lottery dividends are used by school districts for building maintenance, repairs, and operational projects. This summer, the Boise School District and White Pine Elementary School utilized their Idaho Lottery dividends to replace the carpet and freshen up the paint at the school. “We are at White Pine Elementary to witness the reason why the Idaho Lottery was created by a vote of the people thirty-three years ago – to responsibly do good,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “The project at White Pine Elementary is representative of the thousands of projects completed each year by local Idahoans, contractors and their tradesmen, related businesses, and suppliers.” Speaker Bedke and Idaho Lottery Commission Chairman Craig Corbett awarded the largest single check ever from the Idaho Lottery to support public education in the Gem State. On July 19, I had the privilege of presenting this year’s annual “big check” for the Lottery dividend to current Speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives Scott Bedke. It was $73 million, a new Lottery record. With this year’s dividend, we have now returned over $1.1 billion to our good causes. This year’s event took place at White Elementary School in southeast Boise. It showcased the reason why the Lottery was created thirty-three years ago by a vote of the people: to responsibly do good for Idaho. White Pine serves over 500 students that include refugees, mostly from Africa and the Middle East. Twenty-five percent of the students are English learners. This year, White Pine Elementary received new carpet and paint, as the Boise School District showcased their pledge to help improve facilities for students, staff, and the community. This past year’s success came on the strength of record sales and players visiting your stores – and you earned a record in commissions at $22.1 million. And our good causes, Idaho public schools and the Permanent Building Fund received their largest dividend checks in Idaho Lottery history. Every Play Pays. In addition to the dividend and sales records, the Idaho Lottery also awarded a record amount in prizes to players worth $257.1 million, and the Lottery’s network of 1,200 brick and mortar retail locations earned a record $22.1 million in commissions.
WESTON MAN WINS $160,400
Randy Jacobson, Weston, is a regular Idaho Lottery draw game player who won $160,400 playing his favorite game, Idaho Cash. “You get two plays for $1,” said Jacobson. “It has great odds and is only played in Idaho.” To win the jackpot, players match all five numbers selected for a single draw. Jacobson did just that, matching all five numbers from the June 29, 2022 drawing. On July 15, Jacobson claimed the fifth largest jackpot in Idaho Cash history when he visited Lottery offices in Boise. His winning ticket was purchased from the Woodward Country Store in Weston. “I checked my ticket the very next day after the draw and I couldn’t believe I’d

won!” exclaimed Jacobson. “I just hoped I had checked it correctly.” Jacobson plans to pay off bills and put the rest into savings. For selling the winning ticket, Woodward Country Store receives a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $16,040.
BAYVIEW MAN WINS SKULL ISLAND
Longtime Idaho Resident Mark Streater enjoys playing Idaho Lottery Scratch tickets, especially those with fun play styles. One lunch break while playing Skull Island he uncovered the entire treasure chest! "I still can't believe it. I had to wait for my heart rate to go down before I was able to head to the store and find out if it was real," said Streater when he described
how he learned he had won the game’s first top prize of $30,000 bought at Bayview Mercantile. Streater’s plan for his prize winnings is to finally lay a foundation to build a shed on his property.

Being Struck by Lightning or Winning the Jackpot? During July, the Idaho Lottery overheard someone make a comment that you have a better chance of being hit by lightning than winning the Lottery. This is just not true. According to the National Lightning Safety Council, there has been one recorded death by lightning in Idaho since 2005. Since then, three Idaho Lottery players have won either a Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot. Beyond that, 58 players have won at least $1,000,000 playing the Idaho Lottery since 2005. And 175 players have won at least $250,000 since then. Nationwide, lightning strikes almost 40 million times a year in the United States. Fortunately, the vast majority do not end in fatalities nor as often as the luck of winning
MERIDIAN WOMAN WINS A/C MONEY After one of the hottest days of the year, Nicholle Harshbarger found herself trying to drift off to sleep in her warm house. Her air conditioner had just gone out. Before falling asleep, she played a couple of Idaho Lottery Scratch tickets but thought she had not won on either of them. The next morning, Nicholle took her $5 ‘Ol Money Bags Scratch ticket to a Jacksons store in Garden City to check for winners. “The machine made a different winning sound, not like the normal one,” described Nicholle. “The clerk told me I had to claim it at the Lottery. Over the past five years, there have been at least 81 tickets nationwide winning tickets that have won Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life or Lotto America jackpots. Beyond jackpots, 1,287 tickets have won at least $1,000,000 just from Powerball or Mega Millions tickets since 2018. For the five similar reporting years, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports 65 lightning fatalities in the United States where these games are played. In truth, players do have a better chance of striking it rich than they do of dying from a lightning strike in the United States, and especially in Idaho! Of course, there is one fact we do know: players have a zero chance of winning the jackpot if they never purchase a ticket!

About as close to the Idaho-Wyoming border as you can get sits the town of Irwin and the Palisades Outpost. On Friday, the 13th of May, Patricia Cox bought a Fabulous Five InstaPlay ticket from the store. She plays often and her partner told her years ago, “If you ever win big, I’ll take you to Boise!” After Cox found out she had won the $25,000 top prize on Fabulous Five, she asked him, “Do you remember when you told me you’d take me to Boise? Well, look here!!”

On July 19, I had the privilege of presenting this year’s annual “big check” for the Lottery dividend to current Speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives Scott Bedke. It was $73 million, a new Lottery record. With this year’s dividend, we have now returned over $1.1 billion to our good causes. This year’s event took place at White Elementary School in southeast Boise. It showcased the reason why the Lottery was created thirty-three years ago by a vote of the people: to responsibly do good for Idaho. White Pine serves over 500 students that include refugees, mostly from Africa and the Middle East. Twenty-five percent of the students are English learners. This year, White Pine Elementary received new carpet and paint, as the Boise School District showcased their pledge to help improve facilities for students, staff, and the community. This past year’s success came on the strength of record sales and players visiting your stores – and you earned a record in commissions at $22.1 million. And our good causes, Idaho public schools and the Permanent Building Fund received their largest dividend checks in Idaho Lottery history. Every Play Pays. WESTON MAN WINS $160,400
Randy Jacobson, Weston, is a regular Idaho Lottery draw game player who won $160,400 playing his favorite game, Idaho Cash. “You get two plays for $1,” said Jacobson. “It has great odds and is only played in Idaho.” To win the jackpot, players match all five numbers selected for a single draw. Jacobson did just that, matching all five numbers from the June 29, 2022 drawing. On July 15, Jacobson claimed the fifth largest jackpot in Idaho Cash history when he visited Lottery offices in Boise. His winning ticket was purchased from the Woodward Country Store in Weston. “I checked my ticket the very next day after the draw and I couldn’t believe I’d

won!” exclaimed Jacobson. “I just hoped I had checked it correctly.” Jacobson plans to pay off bills and put the rest into savings. For selling the winning ticket, Woodward Country Store receives a bonus from the Idaho Lottery of $16,040.
BAYVIEW MAN WINS SKULL ISLAND
Longtime Idaho Resident Mark Streater enjoys playing Idaho Lottery Scratch tickets, especially those with fun play styles. One lunch break while playing Skull Island he uncovered the entire treasure chest! "I still can't believe it. I had to wait for my heart rate to go down before I was able to head to the store and find out if it was real," said Streater when he described
how he learned he had won the game’s first top prize of $30,000 bought at Bayview Mercantile. Streater’s plan for his prize winnings is to finally lay a foundation to build a shed on his property.

Being Struck by Lightning or Winning the Jackpot? During July, the Idaho Lottery overheard someone make a comment that you have a better chance of being hit by lightning than winning the Lottery. This is just not true. According to the National Lightning Safety Council, there has been one recorded death by lightning in Idaho since 2005. Since then, three Idaho Lottery players have won either a Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot. Beyond that, 58 players have won at least $1,000,000 playing the Idaho Lottery since 2005. And 175 players have won at least $250,000 since then. Nationwide, lightning strikes almost 40 million times a year in the United States. Fortunately, the vast majority do not end in fatalities nor as often as the luck of winning
MERIDIAN WOMAN WINS A/C MONEY After one of the hottest days of the year, Nicholle Harshbarger found herself trying to drift off to sleep in her warm house. Her air conditioner had just gone out. Before falling asleep, she played a couple of Idaho Lottery Scratch tickets but thought she had not won on either of them. Over the past five years, there have been at least 81 tickets nationwide winning tickets that have won Powerball, Mega Millions, Lucky for Life or Lotto America jackpots. Beyond jackpots, 1,287 tickets have won at least $1,000,000 just from Powerball or Mega Millions tickets since 2018. For the five similar reporting years, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports 65 lightning fatalities in the United States where these games are played. In truth, players do have a better chance of striking it rich than they do of dying from a lightning strike in the United States, and especially in Idaho! Of course, there is one fact we do know: players have a zero chance of winning the jackpot if they never purchase a ticket!

About as close to the Idaho-Wyoming border as you can get sits the town of Irwin and the Palisades Outpost. On Friday, the 13th of May, Patricia Cox bought a Fabulous Five InstaPlay ticket from the store. Building Fund Account for maintenance and operations projects and another $18,250,000 goes to the Department of Education’s Bond Levy Equalization Fund to pay the interest on Idaho Public School bonds. “I am so happy to once again receive a record-setting dividend from the Idaho Lottery on behalf of Idaho’s public schools,” Superintendent of Public Instruction Sherri Ybarra said. “For more than three decades, our districts and charter schools have looked to this generous gift for essential upgrades, repairs and maintenance of school buildings across the state. This year’s dividend of $45.6 million brings the total that Idaho schools have received from the lottery to $629 million over 33 years. Every dollar that is returned by the Idaho Lottery to local communities for schools is a dollar that did not come from taxes. After thirty-three years, that’s now $1.1 billion.” Idaho Lottery dividends are used by school districts for building maintenance, repairs, and operational projects. This summer, the Boise School District and White Pine Elementary School utilized their Idaho Lottery dividends to replace the carpet and freshen up the paint at the school. “We are at White Pine Elementary to witness the reason why the Idaho Lottery was created by a vote of the people thirty-three years ago – to responsibly do good,” said Jeff Anderson, Idaho Lottery Director. “The project at White Pine Elementary is representative of the thousands of projects completed each year by local Idahoans, contractors and their tradesmen, related businesses, and suppliers.” Speaker Bedke and Idaho Lottery Commission Chairman Craig Corbett awarded the largest single check ever from the Idaho Lottery to support public education in the Gem State.
