THE BIG SPIN ROUND 3 NEW TOP PRIZES!

The most popular Idaho Lottery Scratch Game in the past year is back for a third edition in early April and the Big Spin is really living up to it’s name! The new $5 Big Spin ticket (the yellow version) will now feature an opportunity for players to win a minimum of $60,000 and a potential top prize of $125,000!

Just like past versions, this game will have six player opportunities to travel to Boise Towne Square for the chance to spin and win big, life changing prizes LIVE on the Idaho Lottery’s Social Media channels.

All the other features of the game remain the same. Players will still bring their “digital spin” winning tickets to the store to either win prizes (minimum $20 win!) or learn they’ll be coming to the Lottery in Boise to have a Big Spin Event!

The Big Spin Wheel also will have new prizes, including the addition of a $125,000 plus two $100,000 spaces and two $90,000 spaces.

MOTHERLOAD WINNER

Dwayne Skidmore has lived in Jerome for most of his life, and for the past three years he has been on a mission to win more than his daughter, Brittanie. Brittanie won $250,000 on Big Sun Cashword in January 2020. Her win showed Dwayne that people really do win, "I mean I had played here and there, but I didn't believe anyone actually won big prizes,” he explained. “Once Brittanie did, I knew I could beat her! I've only ever really played $5 games, but for some reason that Motherload ticket looked really good!"

"It was like fireworks started coming out of the register! I almost had a heart attack," he exclaimed as he relived his winning experience. “All the clerk could tell me was to contact the lottery, because I’d probably won $1,000.”

Immediately, Dwayne took his ticket to a nearby Arctic Circle so he could grab a snack while actually playing the ticket. At 45 years old, he thought it was kind of neat that one of his numbers was 45. Well, to his surprise, that number 45 matched and won him $300,000!

Until about a month ago, Dwayne had been homeless, doing his best to keep him and his wife on their feet. When a family member opened up their home to them, he couldn't believe it, "I mean, with their help we were able to just buy our own car. We drove it here today! I can't believe how much our lives have changed in such little time. First we have a new place to call home, then a car, now this? As thankful as I am, I can't sit here and spend all this money when so many people need help. A lot of my prize is going towards my friends and family, to help them as much as I can."

Dear Friends,

Now in its 22nd year, Team Lottery has once again made Scratch for Schools a success. This fun and engaging event has returned over $1.5 million for individual classroom needs and projects.

We have had terrific attendance of Idaho public schools participating, including record-breaking turnout in Nampa, McCall, Salmon, Pocatello, and Twin Falls. This year’s events used an innovative, first-of-its-kind instant ticket for Scratch for Schools. It’s never been used anywhere in the world (really!!). This special game allows for schools to win more in prizes than ever before. Processing prize fulfillment for our team was reduced by over 90%. A true win-win for the over 450 schools who collectively won more than $150,000.

As we enter the final quarter of our fiscal year, the Idaho Lottery will again achieve record-breaking success. For the third time in Lottery history, we have surpassed the $300 million mark in total sales. With an entire quarter left before us, reaching and exceeding $400 million in total sales is attainable. You make that happen.

I am grateful for every one of you and your teams for your continued support of the Idaho Lottery and the mission we have to benefit public education across Idaho. By working together, we are creating more economic opportunities for businesses while providing for public schools in the Gem State.

BABY CHICKENS IN RIRIE

The Idaho Lottery’s Classroom Wishlist program has been an overwhelming success during the current school year. And there have been some amazing deliveries, but perhaps nothing generating more excitement than when the Lottery visited Ririe Elementary to deliver baby chicken starter kits to Nicole Weight’s 1st grade classroom.

The Idaho 1st grade science standards require students to learn about life science in two different ways; determining patterns in behavior of parents and offspring that help offspring survive, AND, use models to describe that organisms have unique and diverse life cycles, but all have in common birth, growth, reproduction, and death.

“Many of my students come from farming families and have strong connections to livestock. Using this background knowledge, I would like to connect their interests with our science standards and incubate poultry in our classroom,” commented Mrs. Weight when she made her request in February. “This will also be a great way to introduce life cycles and survival instincts to my students unfamiliar with animals.”

On a beautiful spring-like morning, the Lottery made the special delivery to her classroom and were greeted with excitement and enthusiasm from the

students when they saw the boxes. Mrs. Weight’s plan was to introduce the subject before Spring Break. When the students returned from Spring Break, the eggs would be incubating and ready to hatch in just a couple of weeks.

And best of all, when the learning unit is over, the baby chickens will have a good home in Mrs. Weight’s mother’s chicken coop on the family farm.

IT’S A “RICH DAY”!

Throughout the month of March, the Idaho Lottery launched its annual Scratch for Schools campaign, traversing the State along snow covered highways from Sandpoint to Salmon, bringing enthusiasm and winnings to 61% of every public school in Idaho.

This year’s game, Brain Storm, was created especially for the competition at Scratch for Schools, allowing for additional monies to be won for classroom needs. Schools celebrated the occasions with fun and ticket themed outfits. In next month’s Wooh News, we’ll provide a complete run down of who won how much at each of our ten venues across the Gem State!

SCRATCH FOR SCHOOLS IN COEUR D'ALENE

When you were younger, getting to miss school for a “snow day” was possibly the best day ever. Maisy and Kinzi Taylor, though, might have to disagree and say the best day ever was the day their parents called-in a “Rich Day!” at the Idaho Lottery.

Colby Taylor picked up a $50,000 Dragonfly Dollars winning ticket from the Jacksons on Greenhurst Road in Nampa on Friday night coming home from work. He scratched it in the truck and couldn’t believe what he saw.

“I won $20 on the first ticket. Then on this one I thought I won $5. Then $50, then $500 – the zeroes kept coming,” described Colby on his win. “I scanned it on my phone and it said call the Lottery. So I did. But it was late and you all were closed!”

He sent a picture of the “Call Lottery” screen to his wife Ashli who didn’t know what it was. When he told her he’d won $50,000, she didn’t believe him until they visited the Lottery with their daughters on Monday morning.

“There were a couple of sleepless nights,” said Colby.

“We decided it should be a family thing, so we got the girls out of school because we won the Lottery!” said Ashli.

The family took a few photos to provide the necessary excused absences for school for their daughters.

“We got to have a “Rich Day!” said Maisy as she celebrated her parents win.

“I want to go to lunch and not go back to school,” said Kinzi.

The family plans to do a remodel project and then they are saving the remainder of their winnings.
