In honor of the United States of America’s 249th birthday, the Idaho Lottery is offering a month-long celebration with the $1 Draw game, Lotto America.
Lotto America is an all-American game with an all-American jackpot prize that begins at $2 million and grows until it is won. Lotto America is as American as red, white, and blue, apple pie, and fireworks on the 4th of July. That’s why this promotion starts on July 4, 2025, and runs through August 4, 2025.
When players purchase at least $5 in a single transaction of Lotto America draw tickets, they’ll receive 1 draw ticket free! That’s six chances for $5 to win the jackpot.
To play Lotto America, players pick five numbers from 1 to 52. They then select one Star Ball number from 1 to 10. Each play costs $1. For an extra $1 per play, players can add the All-Star bonus to multiply their non-jackpot winning prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times. And as always, players may ask for a quick pick. Multi-draw tickets can be produced for up to 15 consecutive advance draws. Lotto America draws winning numbers on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings at 8:15 pm MT.

As we prepare to bring a close to the current Fiscal Year, on behalf of the Idaho State Lottery Commission, I express my gratitude to each of you for your continued support of the Idaho Lottery and the good causes we support, Idaho public education and the permanent buildings of the State. We have accomplished much during this Fiscal Year despite having only a single Mega Millions jackpot run over the $1 billion mark that spurs players and sales. In fact, this year’s average daily announced jackpot on Powerball is the second lowest it has been in the last decade. Still, the Idaho Lottery remains on target to achieve the third largest sales year in history and provide the State of Idaho with the third largest dividend in our history.
July opens a new chapter for the start of the Idaho Lottery’s 37th year of operations. Your support as we continue to bring you new and innovative games in Fiscal Year 2026 remains the key to our success for the people of the Gem State. This begins with the exciting summer campaign of the Jurassic World Scratch Game and great player incentives for Lotto America that kick off on the 4th of July. NAME THAT SCRATCH GAME 2ND PLACE WINNER
The first of three Idaho Lottery “Name That Scratch Game” winners will see her ticket released to the general public on Monday. Jamie Jensen, Rathdrum, won second place in the popular Lottery contest with the clever game title “Cheddar Getter”. As part of winning, Jensen worked with the Idaho Lottery marketing department on the game design and its production to bring her idea to life.
“I always thought it would be so awesome to design Scratch tickets,” said Jensen, a professional graphic artist from north Idaho. “It’s been a really cool experience!”
“I thought it might be cool to have a shiny metallic purple background to compliment the yellow gold cheddar. Then the green in the scratch part would look good with both colors,” Jensen described to the Lottery’s graphic design team when they first began working on the overall ticket concept.
From concept to reality, Jensen’s original ideas were incorporated into the final ticket design.
The new $5 Cheddar Getter Scratch game went on sale to the general public Monday, June 23, 2025. The game features two top prizes of $50,000.
"Name That Scratch Game" contest was an engaging competition where participants submitted their creative ideas for new Scratch ticket game names in the fall of 2024. The contest received over 14,000 submissions, showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of the Idaho Lottery’s dedicated players.

POWER OUTAGE LEADS TO
One of the more frustrating experiences for homeowners is when the power goes out unexpectedly. But what happens when the power is out on Friday the 13th? For Jenessa Castaneda, Boise, her power outage in June was a lucky occurrence and led to her winning the first top prize in the $3 Scratch Game One-word Cashword.
“I bought the ticket over a month ago and never had a spare minute to scratch it,” laughed Castaneda, a single mother of three. “When the power went out, I couldn’t cook, I couldn’t do the laundry, I couldn’t do anything, so I pulled out the scratch ticket and played it.”
Given she was playing “in the dark”, when she realized she had won the game’s top prize of $30,000 she didn’t believe it.
“I checked the ticket and felt like there was certainly something wrong,” she described. “After I checked it and checked it, I scanned it with the Lottery app on my phone. It said I needed to go to the Lottery Offices.”
Still not believing she had a big winner, once the power was restored, she took the winning ticket to her nearest convenience store. The store’s Lottery terminals confirmed what her phone app had been telling her: she needed to bring it to the Lottery Office to claim.
Castaneda plans to use her winnings to catch up on what she calls the “new modern American dream – getting out of debt.” Paying off bills and supporting her children are her top priorities.
Her winning ticket was sold at the luckiest store in America – Jacksons on Orchard near I-84 in Boise.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY YOU WON A TRUCK!
For Air National Guard Reservist Taylor Smith, Mother’s Day weekend was fairly routine. After a few presents, shopping with his wife Alicia, and visiting family, Taylor found himself with $20 left over.
“I told my wife, I’m gonna play the lottery,” he said. Alicia was not too happy with him over the decision, but Taylor was determined and purchased four, $5 Bucks n’ Trucks Scratch tickets from the Jacksons Extra Mile at Deer Flat and Linder Roads in Kuna. The couple split the tickets to scratch.
After just a few minutes of playing their tickets, Alicia began to exclaim, “I
think we won a truck! I think we won a truck!”
Taylor and Alicia, yes, you won a truck!
The Smith’s became the first winners of the Idaho Lottery’s game Bucks n’ Trucks. The couple worked with Corwin Ford in Nampa to select an Oxford White Ford F-150 Tremor with all the top-of-the-line features. The keys were delivered to Taylor and Alicia shortly after Father’s Day.
The couple plan to take their young daughter camping as their first big outing in their new truck.
