billion-dollar-plus jackpots on Powerball, including the second largest jackpot in world history, and a 5% increase in the Lottery’s most popular product line, Scratch Games, this year’s sales realized a 12.5% increase over the previous year with a record $451 million.
Idaho Lottery Returns $90 Million in Historic Dividend for Schools
The Idaho Lottery achieved a new milestone by returning the largest single dividend ever to the People of Idaho for Fiscal Year 2026. During a presentation at the Idaho State Capitol Rotunda, Governor Brad Little accepted a record-setting dividend check from the Idaho State Lottery Commission for $90 million on behalf of the citizens of Idaho. This year’s dividend is $15 million more than last year’s dividend, a 20% increase.
“Our Idaho Lottery has done exceptional work this year. When working collaboratively, our agencies are able to deliver needed resources and facilities for all citizens of Idaho,” Governor Little said. “Throughout my time as Governor, the Idaho Lottery has steadfastly focused on integrity while providing great benefits to the people of Idaho.”
This year’s record shattering dividend
“The Idaho Lottery has done its part – to make the money. The heavier lift is still ahead. The teams at the Department of Education and the Division of Public Works, with the help of the Permanent Building Fund Advisory Council, must now turn the Lottery’s teamwork into schools and buildings for the next generation of Idahoans,” said Craig Corbett, Idaho Lottery Commission Chairman.
“This unprecedented success in the 37-year history of the Idaho Lottery is due to teamwork. We also benefitted from careful decisions, thoughtful management, and a little bit of luck. This year’s results were the hard work of a dedicated team of 50 professionals at the Idaho Lottery working together for a great common good,” said Andrew Arulanandam, Idaho Lottery Director.
During the ceremony, Governor Little and Lottery Commission Chairman Corbett presented Department of Education Chief Financial Officer Gideon

The classic Atari games of Pong, Centipede, and Asteroids hit the streets of Idaho mid-July like a classic rock anthem as players flocked to your stores to play. As the nostalgia wave continues to drive the sales for these games, remind your players that even if they have a non-winning ticket they can still win!
Players reveal an 8-digit alpha-numeric code under the joystick on every non-winning ticket to enter for a chance to win a monthly prize of $1,000. Players enter the code and play a classic Atari game to reveal the number of their entries. Entries are only good for the month they are entered. Draws occur at the beginning of each month, starting in August. The monthly drawings will continue until all Atari games have ended.
And best of all, even if players do not have a ticket, they can still play the video games for free on the Idaho Lottery’s website. They can enjoy playing the classic versions of Asteroids, Centipede and Pong! Although there’s no prize for being the top player, there is always bragging rights – just like back in the ‘80s arcade era.

Dear Retailers,
On July 15, the Idaho Lottery returned the single largest dividend in our history to the People of Idaho. Commission Chairman Craig Corbett handed a $90 million check to Governor Little during a ceremony at the Capitol Rotunda. This unprecedented success simply would not be possible without you and our players.
The Idaho Lottery brings players inside to your customer counters where they purchase over $1.2 million worth of products through your retail locations every day. Beyond being your loyal customers, though, there’s an important untold story about your Idaho Lottery players.
In particular, the Idaho Lottery’s VIP Club players, your customers, have also made significant contributions to Idaho’s schools this year. They have forgone buying purchasable items or entering sweepstakes for personal gain and instead generously donated to our school based, Do Good programs. Last year our team at the Lottery worked directly with our VIP Club players and schools to improve 592 school programs and projects totaling $417,500. This includes 26 elementary school libraries and 53 classroom projects like the woodworking shop at Lakes Middle School in Coeur d’Alene and sensory room supplies for the new Two Rivers School in Salmon.
Thank you for your hard work and unwavering support for the Idaho Lottery’s good causes – public education and the State’s permanent buildings. We wish you and your businesses great success as we begin our new fiscal year.
Happy Selling,
Andrew Arulanandam Director
inception, the Idaho Lottery has contributed $836.5 million to support Public Education in Idaho.
“This generous annual gift from the Idaho Lottery is more than just a big number on a big check,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield. “I’m grateful to the Idaho Lottery Commission for its continued investment in Idaho’s schools, students, and future. Thank you.”
Governor Little and Commissioner Corbett also presented a record dividend check for $33,750,000 to the Department of Administration’s Permanent Building
BBQ BUCKS BIG WINNER
Two months ago, Tristan West of Nampa received a couple of BBQ Bucks Scratch tickets for his birthday. Exhausted from a long day’s work, Tristan put the tickets aside with plans to scratch them later.
Later turned out to be an early Monday morning in late July. After discovering he had a $50,000 top prize-winning ticket, Tristan made the trip to Lottery Offices to claim his winnings.
“I’m just damn lucky, I guess,” said Tristan when he got his big prize. “But I’m gonna do the right thing and invest the winnings.”
When asked about his barbeque choices, Tristan didn’t hesitate to give the Lottery his preference for grilling. “It’s either a nice big steak, or ribs.”
West’s winning ticket was sold at the Jacksons Extra Mile on Chinden in Garden
Fund Advisory Council Chairman Clint Shiflet.
“The Permanent Building Fund is honored to receive the largest funding allocation ever provided by the Idaho Lottery,” said Shiflet. “These funds play a critical role in supporting the purchase, construction, and maintenance of the growing number of facilities and properties owned and managed by the State of Idaho.”
In addition to the records set for the dividend and sales, the Lottery also set new records for Commissions earned by retailers at $26.3 million, and prizes won by players at $304.2 million.

While his daughter was practicing driving preparing to get her license, Gonzalo started playing a Loteria Idaho Lottery Scratch ticket in the passenger seat. Then he looked up shocked and said… “Pull over.”
Not because of her driving. Because he thought he had just won $50,000.
The family headed home to double-check the ticket, and after doing a little research, they realized the win was real. Gonzalo called his wife with the news… Naturally, she didn’t believe him. Amazingly, this was only the third time the family had ever played the Lottery.
Now, the prize winnings will help his daughter buy a car (once she has her license), pay some bills, and put the rest into savings.
Gonzalo’s winning ticket was sold at the Maverik in Franklin.

EQUIPMENT UPGRADE UPDATE
The updates for your existing Idaho Lottery equipment are being delayed. Previous reports in the July edition of this publication pointed to an August 23 start for the update process. Deployment has been paused to allow for additional development and testing. The team is currently looking at a go live date in mid-to-late September. More timeline updates will be provided in the September edition of this publication.
When the updates do begin, the Idaho Lottery will institute a system wide software download with the new Lotos X operating platform to your existing terminals.
IMPORTANT: ALL current machines will work on the new system. Your machines will continue to operate as
new equipment is deployed.
Once the software download is complete, teams from the Idaho Lottery’s operational vendor Intralot will begin canvassing the Gem State replacing your old Photon terminals with the new, faster Photon X terminals.
The entire upgrade and replacement process is designed to be smooth and effortless for the retailer as teams arrive and exchange your equipment.
The new Photon X terminals do look different; however, the user interface is very similar and fundamentally operates like your existing machine, only faster.
Your Lottery Sales Representative will keep you updated as we move closer to the transition period.
PLAYGROUND FENCES AT FRONTIER
Idaho’s preschoolers need access to outdoor play space for their physical health and cognitive development during school time. It’s essential. And while we often feel school is about reading, writing, and arithmetic, outdoor play time is crucial for emotional, social, and fitness development for preschoolers. Sunshine and endless opportunities to run, play, and explore are key building blocks of these future students.
Pre-school is optional for Idaho families with limited availability and not
Elementary school principal Katie Rutan wrote to the Idaho Lottery seeking assistance to secure a playground area for the school’s preschool population which is exclusively for students with special needs.
"Our building was originally constructed in 1980 and has seen meaningful upgrades over the years. During the last playground renovation, our campus was thoughtfully divided into a small playground for lower grades and a large playground for upper grades, creating age-appropriate and safe spaces for our students. However, one group of learners was unintentionally left without a safe outdoor play option: our preschool students,” described Katie. “For many of
these students, the existing small playground is not a safe environment. As a result, some of our youngest and most vulnerable learners are spending their days without consistent access to outdoor play.”
With a growing preschool population, Katie had a specific project in mind. “Our goal is to install a 30-foot x 40-foot fenced area with appropriate access gates on our campus,” she said. “This fenced space would give our preschool students a secure, defined outdoor environment where they can play safely without the risk of wandering from the designated area and without requiring one-on-one staff intervention just to go outside."
Classroom Wishlist granted. The fence is the foundation for future development. Once the project is complete, the school can bring in physical therapy equipment, adapted play items and PE equipment to build the space out over time.
“Every child deserves to play outside. Every child deserves a space that is safe, welcoming, and designed for them. This project is the first step toward making that a reality for the smallest and most deserving learners at Frontier,” added Katie.
The new play area will be ready when school starts this year.
