NEWS FROM HQ A MESSAGE FROM THE MD, ANDY KYNOCH

Business continuity and managing a crisis, keeping the core operation going, is very dear to my heart. As a company we cannot test enough and being prepared for any eventuality is a must, not only for ICTS but also our clients as well. Serving our clients and keeping them and their facilities secure is our priority but when they have a crisis, an issue in their operation, the learning and training that we have done will assist them and stand us in good stead, keeping not only our business running well but theirs too. Brian O’Shaughnessy ably leads our response in this area and you’ll read in these pages about the latest exercise that was completed and my thanks go out to him and the team at Eighty Strand for approaching the various issues that were presented to them and how well they performed! If we are prepared, then we are prepared for our customers too. We are coming to the end of what is probably our company’s busiest ever summer, not only in our Aviation Division but across the board too in Corporate, where we have seen another Data Centre company join our list of clients. Aviation has bounced back to pre-pandemic levels and many of our US carrier clients are flying more aircraft than before. Thank you to each and every one of you for your hard work, whether it is within our Canine group, NHS contracts, colleges, air cargo and airport security and more, and indeed the back room staff in Tavistock Square HQ and Stockley Park offices, who support the front line. I so appreciate each and every one of you. Reading this newsletter it is absolutely heartwarming to see that despite being so busy so many of you support so many charitable events doing everything possible to make a real change in the community. Team ICTS joined the Wonder Foundation’s Volunteering Day, we supported Gregg’s at Glasgow Airport and Samantha Potty took part in a muddy Race for Life to raise funds for Cancer Research UK which is apt with Breast Cancer Awareness month approaching in October.

I have had some fun too, visiting some stations and sites, meeting the staff at the front line and where possible, surprising the odd member of staff to present them with their long service pin. I look forward to more visits soon. We are a tremendous family. Finally, we approach that time of the year when there are awards dinners and conferences to look forward to and I am sure that there will be more good news stories to come in ensuing newsletters but in the meantime, take care and stay safe. - Andy.

AWARDS & EVENTS AOA SECURITY WORKING GROUP Danielle Davies, Head of Compliance - Airports, writes, “On 13 July we were asked to present to the Airport Operators Association (AOA) Security Working Group, showcasing our project, Innereye.

As a sponsor and participant, ICTS UK & Ireland will showcase its new security solutions, including Innereye, our innovative approach to transforming the future of X-Ray screening.

In attendance were over 30 Industry members, including representatives from the DfT, CAA and Airport Security leads who were thoroughly impressed with our innovative approach to transforming the future of XRay screening. By seamlessly integrating cutting edge artificial intelligence with the expertise of human screeners, our project has demonstrated exceptional efficacy in enhancing security measures. We are honoured by the positive response we have received from Industry leaders and look forward to potential future partnerships to further our trials in the UK.”

ICTS TO SPONSOR THE AOA SECURITY CONFERENCE 2023 The Airport Operators Association (AOA) Security Conference (27-28 September 2023 - York), a premier event in the aviation industry, will bring together AOA members - key stakeholders, security experts, and airport operators to discuss the latest advances in airport security.

Danielle Davies (Head of Compliance – Airports, ICTS UK & Ireland) will join a panel discussion on ‘Gender equity and inclusion for staff and passengers in aviation security’. Alan Dutt, Executive Director – Operations (Aviation and Corporate Services), ICTS UK & Ireland, said, “Gender equity and inclusion is important to us—it fosters a safer and more diverse industry, promoting a broader range of perspectives and talents that enhance overall security measures and passenger experiences. ICTS UK AVIATION SECURITY TRAINING PROVISION CLASSED ‘OUTSTANDING’ BY THE CAA We are thrilled to announce that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted our ICTS UK Aviation Security programs the prestigious 'Outstanding' classification for the third consecutive year. This recognition highlights ICTS UK's unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards in aviation security and ensuring the safety of passengers and personnel. The CAA's assessment, conducted through a thorough and comprehensive review process, examined various aspects of our training programmes, in line with the CAA’s Aviation Security Training Quality Assurance Framework. The outstanding classification highlights ICTS’ excellence in implementing security measures, training protocols, and overall operational efficiency within the aviation sector. Ceri Matthews, Head of Training – Aviation said, “With this accomplishment, we solidify our reputation as a leader in aviation security, setting a benchmark for industry best practices. The classification reaffirms the dedication of our Training Teams across the UK, whose efforts have contributed to this commendable achievement.” ICTS UK is a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Registered Training Provider (#118).

WOMEN IN SECURITY AWARDS 2023 We are looking forward to attending the Women in Security Awards on Thursday 14 September at Shakespeare’s Underglobe Theatre in London. The gala dinner is a wonderful opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the achievements and valuable contribution of our staff. This year, we are pleased to have nominated Agnieszka Chlewicka for the Security Manager category and Shani Baldwin for the Frontline category. Agnieszka is responsible for securing 5+ data centre locations across multiple sites for a top global client. She consistently goes over and above her job requirements and has implemented an effective quality management system across her sites of operation. Agnieszka shows commitment to quality, our Client and a willingness to work towards improving efficiency across the wider contract. She consistently overachieves in terms of SLA. Shani, a Mobile Security Officer covering both Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, has distinguished herself as a superb Officer in many ways. Shani shows maturity and strength of character beyond her years. Working in a very challenging environment, has not deterred her. It is clear when meeting Shani that she feels passionately about her role and finds career satisfaction in helping people and making a difference. Shani’s skill, care and exemplary professionalism are qualities that Officers across our industry aspire to.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY OFFICERS’ DAY ACTIVITIES IN THE CITY We were delighted to mark International Security Officers’ Day (24 July 2023) with a number of activities in London. The Chair of the Security Industry Authority, Heather Baily, joined our Executive Director – Corporate Security and current Chair of The City Security Council, Ashley Fernandes on a number of site visits to frontline staff from across the City. We, along with other members of the City Security Council, the SIA, and the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), attended a special luncheon to recognise our frontline colleagues from across the Security Industry. We were also joined by a number of guests representing the City of London Police, The Security Institute, the Consortium for the Prevention of Suicide, and The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals.

Ashley commented, “I was honoured as the current Chair of the CSC to give the opening address to a room made up of our frontline colleagues from across the security industry. The occasion itself served as a testament to the crucial role they all play in ensuring the safety and security of our communities, organisations, and the UK as a whole. It is our duty as society to recognise their professionalism and dedication so we can help raise awareness of the importance of security and the essential role our frontline play in keeping our communities safe.”

CITY SECURITY COUNCIL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ITS MEMBERS

To mark International Security Officer Day this year, the SIA highlighted some of the awe-inspiring stories of commitment, professionalism, courage, dedication and bravery through the SIA’s #BehindTheBadge campaign.

ICTS UK and ASM were delighted to participate in the City Security Council’s initiative to change the perception of security and encourage unrepresented talent to join our industry.

HR & COMPLIANCE BUSINESS CONTINUITY TABLETOP EXERCISE

ENGAGEMENT UPDATE - WELLBEING INITIATIVES

Brian O’Shaughnessy, Business Continuity Manager— ICTS UK & Ireland writes, “A key element in our Business Continuity and Crisis Management systems is continuous improvement and this involves the testing of the systems to identify any areas of our processes in which we could improve.

The following is an overview of recent activity around our National Awareness Day campaigns launched earlier in the year.

One of the most useful exercises to help us with this, is the tabletop exercise and each Division of the business undertakes one of these exercises each year. Our tabletop exercise is designed to assess the readiness of the operations team, along with their support functions, to respond effectively to disruption, especially in regard to business continuity, crisis management, and disaster recovery.

JULY In July we celebrated International Security Officers’ Day which every year, falls on 24 July. Oren Sapir, CEO of ICTS Europe, of which ICTS UK and ICTS Ireland are subsidiaries, wrote a special message to each staff member to mark the day. A copy of Oren’s message can be found on page 3 of the latest ICTS Europe Newsletter.

The scenario is put to the team, and they are then asked to walk through their management plans related to the scenario in real-time. The scenarios are timed to take an hour and the goal is to test the stakeholders’ established plans and assess their ability to respond to unexpected events and circumstances. The team at Eighty Strand—Tom Shaw, Patrick Anokye and Samuel Adu-Bireco, recently had their tabletop exercise, with Chris Lean acting as the escalation point for specialist advice. This was a multi-occurrence test of the business continuity system. The team had to deal with a Norovirus outbreak at the assignment and at the same time deal with an unplanned demonstration from a climate change group which caused a great deal of disruption to the local area and impacted the relief officers and later shifts arriving. Tom and the team showed an extremely competent response to all timeline events, along with a real understanding of the issues and the most appropriate course of action to the obstacle interfering with normal operations. As expected from someone with the knowledge of Chris Lean, he offered fast and valuable support and advice. A very successful test of our systems by a competent and knowledgeable team!”

AUGUST In August as we promoted Cycle-to-Work day by sharing details of our Bike-to-Work scheme (for ICTS Ireland) and Cycle-to-Work scheme (for ICTS UK). These schemes are part of our Staff Benefits programme. A copy of the posters/information shared is include on the following page.

SEPTEMBER In September we are marking World Suicide Prevention Day which falls on 10 September. This day is an opportunity for us at ICTS to remind all our employees that mental health is important to us. It is normal to have ups and downs as we navigate through life, but it is important to remember that help is out there for those who need it. All employees will receive an email from our HR & Compliance Department with information and contact details of our Employee Assistance Programme, our Mental Health First Aiders and other useful information such as details of Andy’s Man Club, a men’s suicide prevention charity, whose work we highlighted in June (Men’s Health Week). The charity offers free-to -attend peer-to-peer support groups across the UK and online. The Samaritans (UK) offer support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For our colleagues in Ireland we would like to highlight the work of The Irish Men’s Shed Association, a charity, which provides community-based projects where men can come together to learn, share skills and make long-lasting friendships across Ireland. The Samaritans (Ireland) offer support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As part of our commitment to mental health, ICTS was pleased to have supported the Consortium for the Prevention of Suicide in the production of "Courage" - a powerful film aimed at raising awareness about suicide within the security industry and the general public. The film also sends a message of hope and bravery.

We all have a shared responsibility to prevent suicide. It is important to us that ICTS is a workplace that offers support to those who need it. Please remember that help is out there.

NEW BUSINESS TOP DATA CENTRE SELECTS ICTS UK AS ITS TRUSTED SECURITY PARTNER

ICTS is to provide top Data Centre Client with physical security services across its 11 data centre locations in the UK. We will support our new Client by delivering a comprehensive and robust physical security solution. Andy Kynoch, Managing Director ICTS UK & Ireland said, “We are delighted to announce our collaboration with another top Data Centre. Our ICTS expertise and experience will ensure a heightened level of safety and protection for our Client’s facilities and assets. WELCOMING UNITED AIRLINES BACK TO SHANNON

ICTS was delighted to resume the provision of security services to United Airlines at Shannon Airport ahead of the summer season. Since April our Team has been providing aircraft guarding, catering security, baggage security and security at check-in for United’s daily flight to Newark Liberty International Airport (New Jersey, US). In May, our services expanded to include an additional daily flight to Chicago O'Hare International Airport. “This year marks the 25th anniversary of United’s first flight from Shannon to New Jersey. It is great to have United back with us for another season, connecting Shannon with two key US airports” said Fiona McElroy, Divisional Director – ICTS Ireland. As a Group, ICTS Europe provides security services to United Airlines at 23 locations around Europe. Our partnership commenced in 1992, and since 2004, ICTS has been the main vendor of aviation security services to United across Europe, and other locations.

EXCEL LONDON APPOINTS OUR ICTS CANINE SECURITY DIVISION AS ITS PREFERRED SUPPLIER OF CANINE DETECTION SERVICES

We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for the provision of Canine Security Services at ExCel London, a prime events venue. More details to follow in our next Newsletter.

ASM INCLUDED IN ESPO FRAMEWORK

ASM, a security technology subsidiary of ICTS UK, has been included in the ESPO Framework for ‘SECURITY AND SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT & SERVICES’. This ESPO Framework provides access to a range of security and surveillance solutions including public and private space CCTV, access control, intruder detection, independent security consultancy, ANPR cameras and body worn video cameras.

DELTA AIR LINES WINS ‘STATION OF THE MONTH’ AWARD — MAY 2023

OPERATIONS AT LONDON GATWICK EXPAND TO INCLUDE CAR PARK SECURITY (NORTH TERMINAL)

Many congratulations to our Team at London Heathrow Airport who work for Delta Air Lines. Our service provision has contributed to Delta at Heathrow being crowned ‘Station of the Month’ (May). This award recognises teams who have achieved the highest overall performance score in various categories.

Our Team at London Gatwick Airport has been asked to secure the premises of a new multi-storey car park being built at the airport’s North Terminal. Our presence is to protect the airside and landside fences for any intrusion around the construction site. This work is expected to be completed by Summer 2024.

An extract from an email received from Delta Air Lines’ (LHR) to our ICTS Team: “Congratulations to all of you for being Station of the Month for May. A huge amount of work has gone on to achieve this award from every one of the Delta team. It’s not always the smoothest of operations when we experience, cancellations, diversions, late inbound, etc. but due to the huge amount of work you do, you have accomplished this accolade. I cannot tell you how delighted and proud I am of everyone. Please share this wonderful news with your team, congratulate, and celebrate!”

ICTS was also pleased to participate in Delta’s first Safety Day on 7 June 2023. This event is part of a new monthly initiative launched by Delta at Heathrow to promote a safety culture within the workplace.

LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION (LTA)

We received some great Client feedback. The following is an extract from an email sent to Dumitru Gornea (Regional Manager—Corporate Security):

Kerry Hodder, ICTS Hander writes, “On 10 to 12 June 2023 I was fortunate to be deployed to the LTA Rothesay Open Championships, Nottingham, with my Explosive Detection Dogs (EDDs), Bonnie and Eire.

“The team were fantastic last night. Not sure if they have fed back to you, we had an unexpected VIP arrive with very short notice. Your team redeployed and handled this extremely well. The feedback from staff involved on our side was very complimentary about your team throughout the evening.”

The weather was extremely hot, with temperatures reaching 28c throughout the day, so searches of the buildings and tennis courts were conducted early in the morning when temperatures were at their coolest. The dogs were kept in the shade where possible, and wore their cool coats throughout the day, as the dogs welfare is always our top priority. I had many comments from members of the public on how well the dogs were looked after in the heat. The LTA had requested EDD teams to be deployed for the duration of the event, to conduct venue searches, patrols and general visibility throughout the day, as well as being on hand to swiftly and effectively deal with any unattended or suspicious items. There was also the threat of protestors disrupting the day following other recent sporting events being targeted by ‘Just Stop Oil’, so high vigilance and presence as a deterrent was also required.

The ‘girls’ also made an appearance on the LTA’s Instagram and Twitter feeds, as they were extremely popular with the crowds, and had plenty of attention throughout the day, even managing to ‘collect’ the odd stray tennis ball, or two. As part of the EDD team with ICTS, we as Handlers find ourselves in a very privileged position to attend a lot of high profile events, and meet VIPs and celebrities. Although at times we can find ourselves having ‘pinch yourself’ moments when you meet a celebrity or have ‘access all areas’ to high profile events, it’s also at these moments that you feel honoured and a deep sense of pride to be trusted to keep everyone safe and that you are the ‘go to person’ when something needs specialist attention. It’s what we train for, and we are never complacent in the seriousness of our job. We are seen as the first line of defence in counterterrorism at venues, and I for one can say it’s no greater honour to be entrusted to search a venue, and then watch everyone have a great day, knowing you have done your part to keep everyone safe. EDD Handlers at ICTS are in an extremely fortunate position in that we always have the support of a great Management team who lead from the front, working tirelessly to improve how we operate, and our training is delivered internally by an experienced ex-Police instructor and externally by various Police Forces. This is what sets us apart from our competitors and makes you realise how fortunate you are to work for a great Department with great leaders. I must hear the comment “you have the best job in the world” at least 10 times a week from members of the public that we meet whilst at work, and my answer is always the same, “you’re not wrong”.”

AMERICAN EXPRESS RE-APPOINTS ICTS AS ITS SECURITY PARTNER

Many congratulations to our Team at American Express (AMEX) for being re-awarded AMEX’s security services contract. This is the first time AMEX has worked with the same security provider for such an extended period (ICTS operations at AMEX started in 2017). This is testament to the excellent service provided by our Team. In celebration of the renewal of the contract and to mark a number of long service awards, Andy Kynoch (MD), Ashley Fernandes (Executive Director— Corporate Security), Peter McGowan (Divisional Director), Paul Grzegorzek (Regional Manager) and Damian Smith (Operational Manager for AMEX) took the Client and six long-serving members of the ICTS AMEX team our for lunch.

FAMILY FUN AT LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT

In a remarkable display of camaraderie and community spirit, Heathrow Airport staff, business partners and their families came together in record numbers for the highly anticipated Annual Family Day event held on Saturday 17 June 2023 at the Virgin Hanger. The event aimed to foster a sense of unity and appreciation for the employees and their families. It provided an opportunity for everyone to unwind, bond, and create cherished memories outside the workplace ahead of the busy summer season. Joe Bernasconi, Station Manager at London Heathrow Airport said, “Thank you to Heathrow Airport for arranging such a great day. ICTS was responsible for the provision of security services on the run-up and duration of the event. However, many of our Teams were also in attendance with their families enjoying a lovely day out.” An extract from an email sent from Virgin Atlantic at London Heathrow to Dharmesh Mistry (ICTS Supervisor) following the Family Fun Day: “As you and your team will know, the LHR Family 2023 was an absolute success!! Without your help, support, and professionalism the day would have been very different.

PNVA TRAINING FOR HEALTHCARE SECURITY

Ground Security Operative Course – SNN

Congratulations to our Team who successfully passed the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PNVA) training in July 2023 (Photo above).

I delivered a GSO course in Shannon (my first at this location), in preparation for the United Airlines summer operations at this Irish hub. The aim of the course was for the trainees to gain the required knowledge and skills in searching and protecting aircraft. All 11 attendees completed the course successfully— Congratulations on your new role with ICTS.

PNVA training is a requirement for all those who work on any NHS site.

AVIATION TRAINING NEWS

Sarina Reuben, Aviation Training and Compliance Manager provides an update on recent training activity: “2023 has seen the continuous growth in business within the Aviation Division with the travel industry recovering from a 2-year pandemic and the return of passenger traffic to pre-pandemic numbers. A number of courses have taken place to upskill staff and progress them through the ranks as the needs of the business are growing. Further details in the following pages. Ground Security Supervisor Course – LHR I delivered a supervisor course at LHR for new supervisors; The course was delivered over 4 days and covered the role of the supervisor, regulatory requirements, compliance and standards. The supervisors all passed with flying colours and have since completed their on-job-training and are fully qualified to supervise their teams at Heathrow. Congratulations on your new role with ICTS.

Aviation Security Manager’s (ASM) Course Congratulations to the new Aviation Security Managers who successfully passed the ASM course held at Stockley Park (19 - 23 June 2023).

I delivered a Supervisor course at LHR for new Supervisors. The course was delivered over 4 days (3—6 July 2023) and covered the role of the Supervisor, regulatory requirements, compliance and standards. The course consisted of 10 delegates from across the airline and airport security contracts at Heathrow. NEW RUNWAY EXTENSION AT SOUTHAMPTON

Ground Security Supervisor Course – Heathrow I delivered a Supervisor course at LHR for new Supervisors. The course was delivered over 3 days (19—21 July 2023) and covered the role of the Supervisor, regulatory requirements, compliance and standards. The course consisted of 6 delegates from the airport security contract at Heathrow. All successfully passed the course and have completed their on-job-training ready to supervise their teams at Heathrow. Congratulations on your new role with ICTS.

On Tuesday 15 August, Southampton Airport’s new extension to the runway opened. The first flight to use the new section was Eastern Airways to Paris Orly. ICTS looks forward to the official opening, which will be in September. “This is great news for Southampton Airport and all business partners involved ensured the process was smooth, allowing the extension to finish in a timely matter” said Mandy Grinyer, Station Manager at Southampton Airport.

INTRODUCING NEW ICTS PUPPIES: CHASE & OBI-WAN

“Chase is a very confident puppy with charisma to match. He has become a hit across all our deployments while he has been going through the very early stages of environmental imprinting, so much so that when we were at the Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest match, Mikel Arteta (Arsenal Manager) had to have a cuddle! Chase has also had a film crew with an interview at the Formula E event at the ExCel which was watched by a capacity crowd in the interval. Formula E also did a social media clip on him which was also a big hit. We as a Division are very happy with Chase’s progress” said Bill Lewis, ICTS Dog Handler.

Obi-Wan has been visiting an array of locations, from farms to large coach depots where he can play with his mini tennis ball around lots of environmental smells and noises. His favourite is certainly running up and down the centre aisle of the coaches. Obi-Wan is mentored by Faith (female Cocker Spaniel). Although she is not fully trained, she is showing him the foundations of being a working dog. I think she enjoys his company more than anything. Obi-Wan has been meeting lots of different people, children, and animals so far along his journey, and this has been key for his socialisation skills. When not out and about, we are at our main training facility watching and learning from the experienced dogs coming and going with their Handlers, and taking it all in. ObiWan has even had a few goes on the scent identification wall himself and to our surprise, is using his little nose to sniff out his mini tennis ball already, outstanding for such a young age. Obi-Wan currently lives with me and my family. As much as he is a work dog in training, he gets to live the normal everyday puppy life at home where he will snuggle with the children on an evening, play in the garden and chew what puppies chew best! Obi-Wan has really come out of his shell these past weeks and is showing great search dog potential, although it’s early days yet and he’s still enjoying all the puppy mischief.”

Anna Ingram, Assistant Canine Training Manager says, “Obi-Wan has been with us for almost 6 weeks now and he sure has been busy. At first, a little intimidated by my four current crazy Cocker Spaniels-in-training, but before long, he was like one of the gang.

MAX - FROM RESCUE TO ICTS PATROL DOG

“Max is a rescue German Shepherd dog that hasn’t had the best start in life due to being abandoned. He was thankfully rescued and is now loving life living with me and my family and two other dogs, Franklin and Harlow in Bedfordshire. I’ve had Max for around 6 weeks now. From him being completely untrained, we have now completed over 100hrs of training and successfully passed the NASDU Level 2 assessment in August and have started working at Canary Wharf. We still have a long way to go with developing and fine tuning his skills, but he’s definitely relishing his new lease of life with ICTS and with myself and Max’s new family ” said Stuart Bentley, ICTS Dog Handler.

DB SCHENKER SELECTS ASM (THE SECURITY TECHNOLOGY SUBSIDIARY OF ICTS UK & IRELAND)

ASM has won another project with DB Schenker, this time up in Manchester ensuring the security of one of their latest sites, before and during construction. DB Schenker is one of the world’s leading global logistics providers. ASM is protecting DB Schenker’s site during the construction phase with Rapid Deploy CCTV Towers and our ARC (Alarm Receiving Centre) and keyholding team will be adding an extra layer of protection via 24/7 monitoring. Our project includes the installation of CCTV, Fire and Intruder Alarm, Access Control and finally new gates and barriers. Safety will be further increased through automating existing gates for the staff car park, and introducing intercoms throughout the site.

I am originally from Bilbao, Spain. I have been living in Ireland for the last 20 years. With a background spanning more than 5 years in the field of IT, I have accumulated valuable experience through my engagements with both a Secondary School and a Council. I left ICTS in 2015 after almost eight years in the HR department, and after that I undertook senior HR roles within the leisure industry, MercedesBenz and the renewables sector. I’ve returned to the newly created role of Employee Relations Manager, and I’m really excited to be back. There are lots of familiar faces I recognise, as well as a whole host of new people that I’m looking forward to meeting and working with. Lots has stayed the same, but lots has changed and I can’t wait to learn about the areas of ICTS which are new to me following my hiatus.

“Hi Everyone, My name is June Tyson and I joined ICTS as the UK’s Health and Safety Business Support Manager for Aviation on 7 August. Prior to this role, I worked for an airside engineering contractor as a Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor. I have a wealth of health and safety experience, having literally fallen into this career over 20 years ago, when someone in my then company, out of the blue suggested my name for a safety role and I have never looked back. Moving onto the present and my new exciting role at ICTS. For the past few weeks, I have been out and about doing safety visits with many of you based airside and landside around Heathrow. You have been amazingly welcoming, and I can already see what a great safety cultural mindset many of you hold. During our safety chats, with many cups of beverages being drunk, many of you have given me great feedback on how you organise the physical safety of your spaces and what improvements in workplace safety have been carried out, your concern for one another’s well-being. There are some excellent ICTS safety champions out there. I am looking forward to building on all those safety conversations in the coming months and years.

Outside of work, I love music and going to gigs, socialising with my friends, watching F1 (Team Mercedes/ Lewis Hamilton, obviously) and cricket, cooking and travelling. I have fallen in love with West Africa, and my next trip will be to Senegal later on this year. I’m hoping to get over to Baku in Azerbaijan for the Formula One next season too.

Outside of ‘safety’ I do have other interests, like travel, reading and a good ‘Netflix’ series on a winter’s evening ….saying that, I am equally fond of the great outdoors having grown up on a farm in Ireland and like to explore the great outdoors when I can.”

FAREWELL FAREWELL BUT NOT GOODBYE…

Sarina Reuben (Aviation Training and Compliance Manager) I’m writing these words on my last week of work with ICTS, as I prepare for my move to the USA to join our American subsidiary, ACTS. I will join ACTS as Compliance and International Training Manager. How do you sum up almost 20 years with ICTS in a few paragraphs? As someone who usually has a lot to say, I’m struggling to find the words. I am overcome with emotion, as although I’ve convinced myself it would be easy to close this chapter, but I know I will absolutely miss the people who make ICTS what it is. I’m truly grateful to have worked for such a wonderful employer. Working for ICTS is not just work, it is being part of a family, a family that pushes you to the limit, but always has your back. We’ve been through the worst times with financial uncertainly, many organisational changes, instability and a global pandemic, but what makes this company so special and sets it apart from our competitors, is the ability to withstand any hardships, to rise to the challenge and pull together when the going gets tough. For me, working in the aviation division has been an enjoyable and rewarding challenge, I’ve seen our business grow exponentially and become the market leader and it fills me with pride. There’s a reason that so many employees stay for the long run and many who have left choose to return. I’ve been in the industry for 26.5 years in total, I started as a security officer at Tel-Aviv Airport back in February 1997, thinking it would only be something to do, until I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. Little did I know that aviation security would become MY LIFE.

Training has always been my passion and I’m at my ‘happy place’ in a classroom delivering a course, the past year has seen me back in the place I love, amongst trainees, PowerPoints and handouts. On this note I’d like to send my support, love and encouragement to our fantastic training team who work tirelessly across all stations, keep doing what you’re doing, you are the best in the business and an integral part of the success of ICTS. It is unbelievable, that 15 years have gone so fast. I am proud to be part of the amazing team at Gatwick.” Mark Bird (Bristol Airport) “June 2023 saw me working for ICTS for 15 years at Bristol Airport. I started at the Company when we were providing the daily security for the Continental flight to Newark. In 2010 ICTS was awarded the contract to provide security for passenger screening. I then moved across to work in the Central Search area. During my time at ICTS, I have held the position of Security Agent, Team Leader and now hold the position of Security Supervisor. I was given the opportunity to train as a Mental Health First Aider and a First Aider. I am currently also Threat Assessor-trained. In 2022 I was lucky enough to be awarded Employee of the Year for my role as Wellbeing Lead which involved organising wellbeing events and activities such as walks, and social events which supported awareness of physical and mental wellbeing for all work colleagues.”

Paul Hurst (Bristol Airport) “I started with ICTS in 2008, working on the Continental Airlines contract, which ended at the end of 2009. ICTS won the security contract for Central Search which I moved across to. It was a very challenging time - after 18 months, I became a Supervisor for a short while, as due to the expansion of the airport a Trainer’s position was advertised which I went for along with other staff members. I was successful in getting the position. It was and still is very challenging, with all the regulation changes, the new QAF system in place, but as a company and a station we got there. I have enjoyed my time with ICTS. Andy Kynoch (MD) visited our Team at Manchester Airport in August—a chance to present several long service awards, including Mike Smith and Jeff Keeys’ 10-year service awards. In addition, accompanied by Alan Richardson, Operations Manager at Manchester Airport, Andy was able to see first-hand the new significant extensions to Terminal 2 and the major building work that is part of the multi-million pound expansion of Manchester Airport. The visit provided Andy with an opportunity to meet and talk to several of our Security Agents who were pleased to meet him in person.

What is your favourite pastime? I love spending time with my family, walking my dog Mavis and baking. What has been your greatest achievement? At home, my greatest achievement is being a mum, and seeing my daughters flourish into young independent women.

CERI MATTHEWS When did you join ICTS? I have been in the Aviation Security Industry for over 20 years and had the opportunity to join ICTS when Southampton Airport joined the team back in 2018, and I’ve not looked back since. What do you enjoy most of your job? Having started my career as a Security Officer, I enjoy using my previous experience to provide new Officers with the opportunity to begin their career in Aviation Security. Watching people learn, grow and progress in their new career is very rewarding. What key attributes make someone successful in your role? Having a passion for training and being dedicated to the role is really important as this will be reflected in the standard of training created. You need to be organised to ensure you can keep each station compliant with regards to training files and quality assurance, making sure we maintain our high standards and outstanding grade we have been awarded for the third year running. Positivity is key, creating a positive team and working environment ensures that trainers also have a level of positivity to pass onto the trainees before they begin their role in the operation.

Within my career, progressing from a security officer to become Head of Training is something I always aspired to, right from the start when I was in my security officer training, I knew I wanted to be a part of the training team. To now be able to work with trainers across the country shaping the training journey for our future security officers is beyond what I could have imagined 20 years ago.

If you weren’t an Aviation Security Training specialist, what type of career would you choose? I have a passion for baking and making speciality fudges, I would love to have my own confectionary shop in a little village somewhere, creating delicious treats.

EMPLOYEES OF THE 2nd QUARTER FROM OUR AVIATION DIVISION: DAVID SULLIVAN, JAMES BOYLAN, HADIA FAROOQ, LISA BYRNE & JAMES SWAN Congratulations to our Employees of the Quarter from Aviation: David Sullivan, James Boylan, Hadia Farooq, Lisa Byrne, all based at Dublin Airport, and James Swan based at Glasgow Airport. During check-in for Delta Air Lines a passenger suffered a heart attack and collapsed. Hadia and Lisa immediately went to assist the passenger and administered First Aid. David ran to get the defribulator, whilst James cornered off the area with privacy screens. Sadly, even with the team’s quick intervention the passenger passed away. James’ unwavering dedication to our mentoring scheme at Glasgow Airport and the new recruits that he has mentored (a total of 6 to date), has made him a worthy winner of our EoQ award. His dedication to ICTS and continued efforts to maintain the highest standards of aviation security compliance are exemplary.

All 2023 winner(s) of the Employee of the Quarter make up the shortlist for the Employee (s) of the Year 2023 award, who will receive £/€5,000 (gross) and a lapel pin. James “I am absolutely over the moon at being selected and had no idea that I was being nominated. I have been with the company for many years and as I said to Helen, Station Manager, if it wasn’t for her initial training all those years ago, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I love my job and being a mentor. It is so good seeing all the new starters progressing and having a part to play - that makes me so proud. Thank you.”

EMPLOYEES OF THE 2nd QUARTER FROM OUR CORPORATE DIVISION: SALEEM KHAN & KAMAL HASHI

Congratulations to our Employees of the Quarter from Corporate: Saleem Khan, based at AtlasEdge, and Kamal Hashi based at the City of Westminster College (part of the United Colleges Group). Saleem has been recognised for the manner in which he dealt with a mains failure on site. Once power had been restored, Saleem diligently carried out a complete site check, ensuring the site was fault free. Kamal dealt with a major incident which resulted in a tragic fatality near the City of Westminster campus. Kamal’s leadership skills, clear thinking, and decisive actions were instrumental in the management of the knife-crime-related incident. From contacting emergency services, providing crowd control to the assistance provided to the Police investigations which resulted in the successful arrest of 2 youths, Kamal played a key role in managing the incident response operation.

Winner(s) of the Employee of the Quarter award will receive £/€500 (net) bonus and a lapel pin.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY SAMANTHA'S WINDSOR PRETTY MUDDY 5K 2023

Congratulations to Samantha Potty, a Supervisor at London Heathrow Airport T5, who ran the Pretty Muddy Race for Life in Windsor to raise funds for Cancer Research UK after many of her family members were directly affected by this disease. ICTS was pleased to make a contribution to Sam’s fundraising efforts.

SUPPORTING CHARITABLE EVENTS AT GLASGOW AIRPORT

Baker chain, Greggs, held a charity day on 28 July at Glasgow Airport to raise funds for local schools and playgroups. John Quigg and Helen Blacklaw made a donatation to their good cause. Helen said, “It is great that our colleagues in the wider airport community continue to raise money for good causes.”

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT STOCKLEY PARK

Many happy returns to Arun Umradia who celebrated a special birthday with colleagues from our Stockley Park office near London Heathrow Airport.

VOLUNTEERING DAY WITH THE WONDER FOUNDATION IN BRIXTON, LONDON

Team ICTS was delighted to join the Wonder Foundation’s Volunteering Day on 11 August 2023. ICTS colleagues from across our HR and Compliance, and Operational Divisions helped clean up, reorganise and redecorate areas of The Baytree Centre, a social inclusion charity for women and girls based in Brixton, London. Jayne Thorpe-Negbi, Executive Director - HR and Compliance, ICTS UK & Ireland, said, “We are in a privileged position to be able to make a difference and give back to the local community. Earlier in the year (on International Women’s Day) ICTS made a donation to The Wonder Foundation in support of the work it does with many inspiring organisations, such as The Baytree Centre. This summer, we were delighted to have the opportunity to carry on supporting the Wonder Foundation by volunteering our time to get The Baytree Centre ready for the start of the new academic term.” Cont. on following page.
