NEWS FROM HQ A MESSAGE FROM THE MD, ANDY KYNOCH

Health and Safety is one of the key cornerstones of our company and within these pages you will read much about both topics. Of course, we are thoroughly focused on both and in fact all of us, without question, must keep the need to be safe in our place of work, and at home, uppermost in our thoughts at all times. It is really encouraging to see our teams working diligently with our customers and clients, side by side, each and every day, to ensure we maintain the highest standards in this arena. It’s great to see our involvement in May with the Heathrow Airport Health and Safety Week ably led by both Hilary Curtis and Phil Linford and you can read more on this on Page 20. Much of what was learnt there could be applied across our entire company. It has often been said that ICTS is a ‘can do’ company, one that will go ‘above and beyond’ not only for cherished customers but in every other aspect of the business it engages. It’s a company that continually strives to do better and to be considered the best in class. These thoughts and aspirations have recently been exhibited in both our Corporate and Aviation Divisions. On the one hand we were asked as a company to mobilise and commence a considerably large contract to the north and south of Dublin, within 28 days. This was across multiple sites. Mobilisations usually take place between 60-90 days, however our teams in both Ireland and the UK worked hard and tirelessly together, across weekends and Bank holidays, to get to the contract hand-over day successfully, safely and seamlessly in a way that only ICTS could do.

On the other hand, our Aviation Division has witnessed a considerable growth in its airline and airport work, and in particular airport security. This has meant staff working long hours to recruit, train, equip and introduce staff into an already large and established team. This has been a fast-moving 12 months for the Aviation Division, but at every challenge, at every twist and turn you have exceeded expectations. Thank you to not only those of you involved in these two challenges, but to every ICTS employee in the UK and Ireland who keep the ICTS name at the forefront and who continue to put in a great shift every day. You are amazing. Within these pages you will again read about so many great accomplishments, events, awards, and many interesting stories of our colleagues who make up the ICTS family. So many who work behind the scenes to make our company a better place to work in, a safer place to work in and also make it an easy choice for those wishing to work here.

With that said, enjoy the summer at work and with your loved ones. It will be busy but I know we will all come through it with flying colours. Thank you all for everything you do each and every day. Take care, keep safe and keep hydrated! - Andy.

AWARDS & EVENTS “On behalf of St Francis Hospice Dublin, I would like to extend our gratitude to ICTS for their support. It is fantastic to be nominated and acknowledged in this way. As the population grows and ages, the need for the type of specialist care that St Francis Hospice offers will increase. In 2022, we cared for 1,932 patients; by the end of the decade, we expect to be providing services to an additional 550 patients and their families each year. We must grow and adapt our services to meet this need. CELEBRATING OUR EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR 2022: GERRY O’REILLY

Gerry O’Reilly and his wife were taken out for lunch by Andy Kynoch (MD) and Fiona McElroy (Divisional Director—ICTS Ireland) in recognition of Gerry receiving our Employee of the Year Award (2022). As part of our Employee of the Quarter scheme, if we have fewer than 3 nominations per sector, we put the excess award money into a charity pot. The Employee of the Year chooses a registered charity close to their heart to which to award the total amount in the pot. The 2022 charity pot amounted to €2,800 and Gerry’s charity of choice was the St. Francis Hospice Dublin (Raheny branch). Along with Fiona, Gerry and his wife visited the Hospice on Thursday 25 May 2023 with a presentation cheque which was gratefully received by the charity.

ICTS: MERIT WINNER AT THE INTERNATIONAL SAFETY AWARDS 2023

ICTS UK has been presented with an International Safety Award for protecting its employees from the risk of injury and ill health at work during the 2022 calendar year. Now in their 65th year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also acknowledge organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work. Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council, congratulated ICTS UK on its success in winning an International Safety Award 2023 with a Merit: “The British Safety Council applauds ICTS on its achievement. The award is in recognition of its commitment and hard work to keep its employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.

“The vision of British Safety Council is that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work – anywhere in the world. Achieving this requires more than complying with legislation; it means people committed not only to health and safety but also more and more to workplace wellbeing and impelling others to follow suit.” “The health and safety of our teams and the environments in which we operate is of paramount importance and we are thrilled to have gained a ‘Merit’ for the second consecutive year” said Jayne ThorpeNegbi, Executive Director HR and Compliance, ICTS UK & Ireland.

HOW DO WE MEASURE UP?

SHANI BALDWIN: 2023 SIA ACS PACESETTER SECURITY OFFICER OF DISTINCTION AWARD WINNER

What is the best way to measure how well we are doing in the area of health and safety within our teams across the business? It’s not only based on reactive statistics after an event, it’s about what we are all doing together collaboratively to keep each other safe and well, so with our continued efforts we will continue to drive a positive safety culture to improve safety performance and create lasting change in ICTS for everyone. We submitted an entry to the British Safety Council International Safety Awards for which we achieved a Merit award in recognition of ICTS’ commitment to excellent standards of health, safety and wellbeing management. This year more than 975 applications were received for the International Safety Awards. These applicants included organisations of all sizes, types and sectors, and businesses in the UK, Africa, Asia, India, mainland Europe and the Middle East. We are also pleased to announce we were finalists at this year’s International Institute of Risk and Safety Management Awards. These Awards celebrate risk excellence and all those who contribute to protecting people, reputations and profits. The awards recognise those organisations, teams and individuals who champion better risk management to drive organisational and employee wellbeing. Many congratulations to Shani Baldwin who has won the 2023 SIA ACS Pacesetters Security Officer of Distinction Award. Shani is a Mobile Security Officer who is based at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust - one of the large NHS establishments ICTS provides security to.

Shani joined ICTS approximately 22 months ago, and in that time has distinguished herself as a superb Officer in many ways. Her quick thinking and intervention have defused numerous harrowing situations usually involving mental health patients. Shani’s skill, care and exemplary professionalism are qualities that Officers across our industry aspire to. At just 21 years of age, Shani shows maturity and strength of character beyond her years.

We were delighted to celebrate Shani’s achievement and thank her for her contribution to ICTS and the wider community in which we operate. 2023 IRELAND OSPAS FINALIST: LOUISE O’CONNELL

Many congratulations to Louise O’Connell who was a finalist in the Young Security Professional category at the Ireland Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) which took place on Friday 26 May in Dublin. Louise, who joined ICTS Ireland in April, is a Supervisor for a prestigious Data Centre Client in the Dublin area. Louise writes a few words on her career within the Security Sector - “I am 27 years old and I started my journey in Security back in April of 2019. A friend of mine was in the security industry and recommended me for a job role in the same company he was in and that he thought I would be well suited and enjoy the job. Fast forward 4 years and I am still here; you learn to love the madness. I started as a Security Officer in 2019 working in a Data Centre that was under construction. I saw that build through to completion and then moved on to another building within the same campus. I was a Security Officer for just about 2 years during which I learnt the ins and outs of the Data Centre world. During my time as a Security Officer I was also approached to become a ‘Training Champion’ and I trained new hires to work in different sites. Around March 2021, I became a Security Supervisor in a new building. I built a strong team and we were know as the ‘A Team’. I had 3 Officers with me on a daily basis and we worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the building and to keep the Client happy. Around Feb 2022 the Area Supervisor position became available to which I applied and got it and started in that position in March. I was mentored closely by the Cluster Account Manager, Warren Humphreys who I have worked alongside with now for 2 years and has supported me throughout my journey.

In this position, I also work alongside our Training Manager, Stefan, to ensure all new starters are set up for success. We have a team of roughly 100 Officers/ Supervisors to keep happy and on track, so between them and the Client there is never a dull day. I have had the opportunity to sit both the CPO and CCSM examinations by IFPO. I have certificates in both. When I first started in Security it was nearly unheard of to have any female security members as I was one of about five throughout the whole of the client’s Dublin sites. Now with ICTS, we have at least one if not more in nearly all of our sites which is great to see and hopefully it will increase even more.”

ICTS (UK) LTD ACHIEVES ANOTHER TOP SIA ACS SCORE

We are thrilled to announce that ICTS UK has once again achieved an outstanding Security Industry Authority Approved Contractor Scheme (SIA ACS) score of 143 out of the maximum score achievable of 145 points. This follows the SIA ACS audit which took place over four days in May 2023 during which the auditor visited our London Headquarters and several ICTS’ sites of operation within the Corporate, Data Centre and Healthcare sectors. The comprehensive audit encompassed seven key areas: Strategy, Service Delivery, CRM, Financial Management, Resource Management, People, and Leadership. The auditor conducted meetings with our clients as well as personnel occupying diverse roles throughout the company.

ICTS ATTENDS THE AOA ANNUAL DINNER

ICTS UK was delighted to sponsor the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP) Master’s Installation Luncheon held on Tuesday 6 June 2023 at Drapers’ Hall in the City of London.

The Court meeting saw the installation of the new Master and Wardens followed by the admittance of new Freemen and the clothing of new Liverymen. Membership of the WCoSP is drawn from the Security Industry and includes leading security professionals from a variety of backgrounds.

Almost 700 representatives from across the aviation sector attended the Airport Operators Association’s Annual Dinner on 5 June 2023 at the Grosvenor House London. ICTS, a Corporate partner of the AOA, was pleased to be in attendance. Guests heard from UK Aviation Minister, Baroness Charlotte Vere and had the opportunity to network.

HR & COMPLIANCE ISO 31000:2018 RISK MANAGEMENT.

Brian O’Shaughnessy, Business Continuity Manager— ICTS UK & Ireland, writes: “Risk is an inseparable part of any business. The element of risk leads us to ensure that we have implemented the proper risk management processes to effectively manage and mitigate such risks. With this in mind, the Business Assurance Department has recently been putting the finishing touches to the ICTS being fully compliant with ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management, which was developed to provide the best practice structure along with guidance to all companies concerned with risk management. The purpose of risk management is to negate or manage risk, improve performance, and most importantly encourage continuous improvement in the way we, as a company manage risk. This standard gives our team and clients the reassurance that we have a comprehensive preventative risk management programme with a team of experts to identify and provide a deeper understanding of all types of risks.

We are extremely proud to announce that we are now fully compliant with ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management.”

SEDEX We identify risks to the company through knowledge, experience, feedback from our employees, current events and through our Business Impact Analysis (BIA) which is a documented systematic process to determine and evaluate the potential effects resulting from risks to the company. Whenever risks to the achievement of our objectives have been identified, we carry out a process to assess the risk so that we can put into place appropriate controls or measures in order to eliminate the risk or mitigate its effect. Risks are assessed in terms of the likelihood of occurrence and the consequences of the impact of that risk on the company and are kept under review to assess whether the measures in place have reduced or eliminated the risk as expected. The following diagram outlines our risk management cycle.

ICTS UK is a member of Sedex. This membership is a sign of a company’s willingness to share information and to utilize this information to help manage and improve ethical standards within the supply chain.

SUPPLY SUSTAINABILITY SCHOOL ICTS holds a Silver award from the Supply Sustainability School — a learning environment helping to upskill those working within, or aspiring to work within, the built environment sector. The focus is on sustainability and environmental issues including carbon and climate change, social value and sustainable procurement.

ENGAGEMENT UPDATE - WELLBEING INITIATIVES

The Employee Engagement survey, which many of you completed in the Autumn of last year, indicated that communication was an area which needed improvement.

In our last Newsletter we said that we would be rolling out new initiatives throughout 2023. We are pleased to announce that we will be rolling out two new surveys to assist us with understanding the experience of all new employees. All new employees will receive an email (in their personal email account) after 1 month (Welcome Survey) and after 3 months (Onboarding Survey) of continuous employment, with questions about their ICTS onboarding, induction and on-the-job training experience. The results will be recorded and monitored by HR. This will allow us to have a better understanding of the employee experience when joining ICTS and will potentially help us to identify any areas that require improvement.

We also said that we would be supporting National Awareness Days throughout the year. The following is an overview of the days that we have marked so far and those planned.

MARCH In March there were 1,139 women employed by ICTS UK & Ireland. We celebrated International Women’s Day on 8 March by donating £1,139 to the Wonder Foundation (The Wonder Foundation, who work with many inspiring organisations around the world, provide long-lasting education and training projects for women and girls. We also asked our female colleagues to support us by providing of headshot of themselves, from which we created this collage:

APRIL Friday 28 April 2023 was World Day for Safety and Health at Work. To mark the day, we wrote to you (by email) to tell you more about our Health & Safety Champions initiative and to invite you to join our Health & Safety Champion programme aimed at promoting a positive safety culture at ICTS. A safe and healthy working environment is a fundamental principle and right at work. Our business revolves around safety, and we are passionate about engaging all staff members in the ICTS culture of safety in the workplace.

We are delighted to announce the winners of the recently concluded ICTS Walking Week competition and we extend our congratulations to all the participants for their exceptional efforts! TEAM WINNERS 1st Place: HR (Jo, Kerry, Chanda and Saty) Total steps: 164,254. 2nd Place: Financial Institution (Gabriel and Diane) Total steps: 128,545.

INDIVIDUAL WINNERS 1st Place: Manpreet (London Heathrow Airport) Total steps: 220,504. 2nd Place: Freddie (Data Centre), Total steps: 187,213. 3rd Place: Syed (CyrusOne), Total steps: 182,748. Collectively, we covered approximately 900 miles!

MAY To celebrate National Walking Month we are encouraging all staff members to walk daily and engage in some healthy competition! There are many benefits of walking every day (read more here). We introduced ICTS’ Walking Week, during which we invited individuals or teams of up to 5 staff members to keep track of steps taken between Monday 15 and Sunday 21 May 2023 during their usual workday / rest day. Prizes (goody bags kindly donated by Spectrum, our Benefits provider) were won by the individuals and teams who walked the furthest.

In May we also marked Mental Health Awareness Week by reminding our staff (via our LinkedIn page) that our Employee Assistance Programme is readily available should one need support and a group of specially trained ICTS Mental Health First Aiders can offer guidance.

JUNE Men’s Health Week runs between 12 and 18 June 2023. The week is designed to raise awareness of health issues that may affect men and to encourage men to take action. Spectrum (our Staff Benefits provider) has highlighted that, “Men are suffering on a global scale, with many not being able to cope. At any given time, 1 in 8 men are diagnosed with a common mental illness such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder or OCD. Overall, men report far lower life satisfaction scores than women. The World Health Organisation states that half of all violent male deaths are suicide.

For Men’s Health Week we are working with Andy’s Man Club (no relation to our MD!) in the UK. Unfortunately, Andy’s Man Club does not yet have branches in Ireland but the principles remain the same – it’s good to talk! See the end of the article for signposting to similar services in Ireland. We will be featuring The Irish Men’s Sheds Association in our next newsletter.

Globally, we lose a man every minute to suicide. It is the leading cause of death for men under 35. We must work together to create safe spaces, break the stigma, and allow easier access to care pathways when needed. Men will often choose to suffer through mental distress with no relief rather than risk ‘the discrimination and ostracism that comes with accessing mental health services’. Understanding how and where to access mental health and wellbeing supports without barrier to entry is key to supporting men’s health. There is work to be done to reduce stigma and protect men’s wellbeing. Friends, families, employers, institutions, doctors and the wider community all need to work together to save lives. Everyone deserves the right to support when they need it most without fear of judgment or damaging their identity. Too many lives are lost and we can avoid this happening in future by encouraging increased responsibility for one’s health, open conversations and higher adoption of interventions to help with overall wellbeing. The skills required to have an emotional dialogue are often taken for granted. 75% of those that spoke about their mental health had a positive experience with feeling supported and listened to as two major reasons. Men stated a non-judgmental community space to talk and listen to others would support their overall wellbeing highlighting the importance of a supportive community and access to mental health solutions and resources.” ICTS has an open culture where mental health dialogue exists, policies and procedures are properly signposted, and our Mental Health First Aiders are on site and available.

About Andy’s Man Club – The charity is a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peerto-peer support groups across the UK and online.

The Charity takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with male mental health surrounded by wellingrained cultural stigma in the UK.

CITY SECURITY COUNCIL IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ITS MEMBERS ICTS UK was delighted to participate in the City Security Council’s initiative to change the perception of security and encourage the unrepresented talent to join our industry. Thank you to our staff members who participated in the filming which took place in May. More details to come on this initiative.

NEW BUSINESS

ICTS IRELAND WINS HBS CONTRACT AT T1 AND T2, DUBLIN AIRPORT.

The daa Group, which manages Dublin Airport, has awarded ICTS Ireland the contract for the provision of Hold Baggage Screening (HBS) services at Dublin Airport’s Terminals 1 and 2.

“We have had the privilege of working for Dublin Airport since 2003 and are delighted to be given the opportunity to continue delivering a first class HBS service at Terminal 1 and from Autumn 2023 also, Terminal 2. “It is an exciting time for us in Dublin as the airport gets ready for the busy summer season. We are fully committed to playing our part in supporting daa with their improvement plan for Dublin Airport passengers” said Fiona McElroy, Divisional Director – ICTS Ireland. This summer, 44 airlines will fly from Dublin Airport to some 190 destinations in 39 countries. More than 1.5 million extra seats have been added across the airport’s route network, which is 6% higher than last summer. Alan Dutt, Executive Director – Aviation, ICTS UK & Ireland said, “We take this opportunity to thank the daa Group for once again putting their trust in ICTS. We look forward to a continued strong and successful collaboration.”

GLOBAL DATA CENTRE GIANT CHOOSES ICTS IRELAND

Our Data Centre Security Division has welcomed a global Data Centre client to its Irish portfolio. Since April 2023, our ICTS Ireland team is responsible for the provision of security guarding services at 18 locations to the north and south of Dublin. Our HR and Compliance Department flew teams out each week to conduct engagement meetings, collect ID documents, offer support and answer questions from the staff who transferred across to us. Our H&S teams have been carrying out risk assessments and vital checks on all sites and this will continue for a few more weeks. Payroll has worked tirelessly, ensuring that all staff are paid correctly and on time. It really has been all hands on deck, and a tremendous team effort. OVER THIRTY YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN DELTA AIR LINES AND ICTS EUROPE

Delta Air Lines has re-awarded ICTS Europe a panEuropean contract for the provision of enhanced aviation security services at 26 airports across 15 countries in Europe. “We are delighted to be recognized once again as the preferred security provider by Delta Air Lines. This outstanding achievement is testament to our performance, the dedication of our teams and our drive for innovation. In particular, the APM FLEX pre-screening method has been recently introduced at several European locations. This success confirms the ICTS Europe Group’s position as the main provider of enhanced aviation security services to the US carriers in Europe”, said Ronen Remetz, Executive Vice President, of ICTS Europe. APM Flex is a combination of behaviour observation, passenger pre-screening specialized technique, and enhanced specific technology. This solution is due to be introduced across Europe throughout this year. “In ICTS we have a partner which over the many years of collaboration has developed a deep understanding of our operations. Innovation, customer-centricity, and a forward-thinking mindset that are fundamental qualities which support secure and efficient operations and enhance customer service. For 2023, Delta has expanded its transatlantic services with the re-introduction of seasonal services and the launch of new destinations, among them, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Stuttgart, Geneva, and London Gatwick. The airline will be adding approximately 6,000 flights to its existing routes.

UK AIRPORTS HEALTH AND SAFETY WEEK

The UK Airports Health and Safety Week, developed and coordinated by the Airport Operators Association (AOA) in partnership with the CAA, took place between 15 and 21 May 2023. The principle focus of this national annual event is to promote safety improvement and development through experience and learning. Our ICTS Teams were out and about, supporting the numerous activities which took place across the UK and in particular London Heathrow Airport. Hilary Curtis, Standards & Compliance Manager – ICTS UK & Ireland said, “The week has been valuable for our teams – emphasising the importance of safety culture development and creating a climate for sharing and learning. The event was very inclusive and saw the engagement of many stakeholders who make up the aviation sector.” Phil Linford, H&S Deputy Manager added, “We met members of Heathrow’s H&S and operational staff and ICTS staff who joined us throughout the day. A big thank you to those colleagues who visited us during their breaks. Heathrow delivered a great and well organised safety event week, which I believe all who attended enjoyed.”

1. Airport Fire & Rescue Service - where different equipment used for rescue during a fire incident was demonstrated. We were more fascinated with the equipment used to cut. 2. Health MOT Road Show - a quick health MOT was conducted. e.g., BMI check, blood pressure, height, weight, stress level, wellbeing etc. from this stand. We were later presented with a health boomerang life balance result - equivalent to an MOT certificate. 3. Road Safety Stand: At this stand a few staff were able to use the Virtual Reality Headset to watch a road safety video. Other stands addressed key safety topics like Working at Height, TAKE 5 - how aircrafts manoeuvre and park, the importance of keeping hydrated during the summer and the importance of using custom ear plugs while working airside.”

The flight was delayed boarding due to towing on stand late and then having to be catered. Boarding started at around -25 and Parmajit had been speaking to the customers at the gate to identify SSSS customers and any requiring their documents to be swiped. This was a great help and I wanted to recognise their hard work. Also once boarding started Parmajit was managing the queue to ensure the customers were processed as smoothly as possible. SUPERVISOR COURSE, LISBON, 17-21 APRIL 2023

“Four Supervisors candidates from the UK and Ireland successfully concluded a Supervisor Course conducted by the ICTS Europe Product Quality Control & Training department (PQCT.) They are Mark Ramsey and Luke Gaynor from London Gatwick Airport, Steven Reid from Edinburgh Airport, and Sharon Duggan from Shannon Airport. The course emphasized passenger pre-screening, airside security, staff and situation management, motivation, appraisal of staff, and client relations. The study was fully participative and interactive, with less than 20% of the time dedicated to frontal lectures, many simulation exercises, roundtables, and working in teams. The learning event was rounded up with cultural activity and a visit to the beautiful city of Lisbon. Our Team at Stockley Park enjoyed meeting Bobby. Bobby is a Free Running Explosives Detection Dog (FREDD) who works with Handler, Emma Fincham. Emma was at Stockley Park to complete her Cargo Operative Refresher Course. This qualification is required by the CAA for FREDD Handlers to operate on regulated premises. Emma brought Bobby with her, much to the delight of our team. UNUSUAL SIGHTING AT SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT

The RAF’s Hercules landed at Southampton Airport at the beginning of April—a last chance to see one at Southampton as 14 June marked the retirement of the Hercules from RAF service. The aircraft was frequently used in areas where there was a threat to aircraft. RECRUITMENT FAIR A ROARING SUCCESS AT ABERDEEN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Over 500 people came to Aberdeen International Airport’s recruitment fair on Tuesday 28 March 2023. ICTS was among the 30 companies based across the airport that participated in the event which promoted more than a hundred roles at the North East’s biggest transport hub.

The Campus Watch initiative has been relaunched at Southampton Airport. It prioritises early intervention, consistent staff training and the encouragement of staff and customers to report disruptive behaviour to the Airport’s duty management team to allow the security team to initiate a rapid response.

SAFETY AWARD WON AT SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT

RECRUITMENT DRIVE AT BRISTOL AIRPORT Our Team from Bristol has been busy promoting ICTS careers in Aviation Security at a number of job fairs, including at Weston Super Mare, Barry and Bristol Airport.

Many congratulations to Annie Mauger who has been presented with a safety award by the Airport Duty Manager of Southampton Airport. Annie, who is a Security Officer, won the award for her vigilance in spotting a member of the general public using an electric scooter around the airport site.

PROMOTING A CAREER IN AVIATION SECURITY WITH STREET LEAGUE SCOTLAND

ICTS is working in partnership with ‘Street League’ in Scotland to showcase the career opportunities available in aviation security to the young people they are supporting within the local community. Street League combines sport and education to help young adults into work. “We have now hosted two Street League sessions with the assistance of Glasgow Airport, which included a tour of the airport, ‘show and tell’ sessions with our security team and a presentation on interview skills. These sessions have been positively received by all those in attendance and we currently have a number of applications from Street League which is a great result for all involved” said Louise Cameron, ICTS Divisional Director – Scotland. Kirsty McGunnigle, Progressions Coordinator, Street League, commented, “It was amazing to get an insight into the work ICTS do at Glasgow Airport and we got to hear from staff directly about the work they do and their journeys to get to where they are now. These types of partnerships help us showcase different career paths to the young people we work with and open their eyes to opportunities that are out there that they may not have considered before. I couldn’t be more thankful to the team at ICTS for making this possible!”

NEW MENTOR PROGRAMME AT GLASGOW AIRPORT

Helen Blacklaw, Station Manager at Glasgow Airport writes, “Our mentor programme is up and running at Glasgow Airport. We already have 10 mentors who have been trained and have already been out there coaching and mentoring our newly recruited staff.

In terms of on-job-training, which is mandated, we have already seen the benefits of having Mentors in our Central Search Area and the positivity that it is bringing, which includes encouragement, reassurance, and most importantly, compliant Security Officers. Another benefit of the Mentor programme is being enrolled in the Continuous Personal Development (CPD) and in turn being awarded a certificate and a mentor badge, with a choice of pink or purple. The mentor badge clearly identifies our Mentors and is a constant support for all our staff in our Central Search Area.”

STAFF DROP-IN SESSIONS AT GLASGOW AIRPORT

Each month we organise a drop-in session for the staff and on Friday 5 May we held a “Coronation” themed drop-in. Staff can come along and are encouraged to talk not only to the management team but also with each other. There is also a staff suggestion box where we have now commenced our Security Improvement Process (SIP for short) whereby the staff are encouraged to put suggestions and how they think that they might be able to help implement them. So far, we have seen a great turn out, and some really fabulous suggestions.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH GAMA AVIATION

“ICTS has formed a new partnership with Gama Aviation – a global aviation organisation - we are delighted to have made a formal agreement with them to provide staff for their VIP passenger, hold baggage and inflight supplies screening at their Glasgow facility. Having already provided security training for Gama in Glasgow and Aberdeen it was the natural next step for us. This has allowed ICTS to expand their footprint on the Glasgow Airport campus as we look to expand our portfolio of aviation clients in the area” writes Calum Willins, Aviation Security Compliance Manager— Glasgow Airport.

ICTS AVIATION TRAINER’S CONFERENCE

On Tuesday 23 May 2023 the ICTS UK & Ireland Training and Compliance Department held a trainer’s conference at the Sheraton Skyline hotel at Heathrow. The conference was arranged and chaired by Ceri Matthews (Head of Training for ICTS UK & Ireland) and co-facilitated by Danielle Davies (Head of Compliance for ICTS UK & Ireland) and Sarina Reuben (Training & Compliance Manager for ICTS UK & Ireland). The conference was attended by 25 Trainers which included 3 new trainers joining the team from Bristol and Southampton Airports. The main focus of the conference was the CAA’s Quality Assurance Framework strategy and process, the forthcoming external quality assurance visit scheduled for July and the importance of achieving an ‘Outstanding’ grade for the 3rd year of QAF. Other topics discussed, were the use of GuardTek as a learner tracking tool, the new refresher packages, latest CAA news and covert test methodology.

The trainers had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any issues relating to training and compliance matters.

The day ended with practical activities relating to searching passengers with medical aids and standardisation of the body search process. Feedback received from those who attended was very positive and the delegates expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to come together and share ideas. ARTICLE: FROM SECURITY OFFICER TO PAN EUROPEAN ACCOUNT MANAGER FOR A PRESTIGIOUS DATA CENTRE CLIENT Nigel Cole writes about his career progression within Data Centre Security.

Another part of my job is to audit our sites to make sure we are meeting our clients’ expectations and present those findings at monthly meetings.

"I joined ICTS via TUPE in 2019. At that time, I was working as a core Officer for one of our prestigious clients in the data centre sector and had aspirations of working my way up the ladder.

This role will evolve in the near future I am sure, but for now I am happy to be representing ICTS delivering the goals set out by our client.

Fortunately, I did not have to wait too long. ICTS came on board and really got stuck in to finding out about the staff they had newly acquired and supported us in reaching our goals. I quickly moved up to covering supervisor shifts and in 2021 I got the opportunity to interview for the newly vacated Site Security Manager role, which I was successful in. Fast forward two years and with the rapid growth of our client, it prompted them to evaluate their staffing structure and they decided to seek the expertise of ICTS in acquiring a Pan European Account Manager. That role was pitched to me. I have over 10 years of experience in security across all sectors at management level and a vast knowledge of our clients’ processes and procedures. This has kept me in good stead whilst I find my feet. The Pan European role is central to our client as they grow in the UK and across Europe, and it strengthens ICTS’ reputation within this sector. My role is diverse, and one part is to ensure that all our teams in the UK and Europe are supported and trained to the extremely high standards our client expects and that this training does not stop at a handbook. I oversee 5 sites in the UK, 3 in Germany and 1 in the Netherlands. I am very hands-on with our teams and visit sites regularly to go through our processes. I create training videos whereby they can see in real-time what they should be doing with the internal systems which has been a great help.

CANINE FIRST AID TRAINING Our ICTS Handlers participated in a Veterinary First Aid training course and received their new Canine First Aid Kits. As part of our Canine Security Services Veterinary Assurance Programme, we ensure that all our canine partners are cared for correctly, and that their Handlers are appropriately trained.

TRAIN-THE-TRAINER COURSE, LISBON, 25-28 APRIL 2023

The Train-the-trainer course, facilitated by Enno Geissler and Monica Zottarelli (ICTS Europe PQCT), was attended by eight staff members from ICTS Europe’s subsidiaries in the UK, Germany, Portugal and Sweden. The participants worked for ICTS Europe’s data centre, airline and airport security and Canine Security sectors. In attendance from the UK were Charlotte Smith and Anna Ingram (both from our Canine Security Services Division) and Terry Miles (from Data Centres).

Ilan Weinmann, the Director of the PQCT, joined the course by video call (photo below) for a very wellreceived 30- minute address to the participants about the importance of training and the central role of trainers in ICTS Europe.

NEWS FROM ASM (THE SECURITY TECHNOLOGY SUBSIDIARY OF ICTS UK & IRELAND)

Curtis Wright, Director - Electronic Security and Monitoring Services provides us with the following update on ASM activity: Projects •

A new CCTV and intruder alarm system is being installed in a high-profile London venue.

We have installed new CCTV and Intruder alarm systems for Kent County Council. The systems are being monitored by our ARC for added security and peace of mind.

•

DB Schenker Glasgow – This project is now complete having installed a new fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV system, intercoms, and automated barrier, all of which are being monitored by our ARC.

•

DB Schenker Manchester – We took over the monitoring of the existing intruder and fire alarm systems and connected them through to the ARC. We have also deployed CCTV towers that utilise solar panels for perimeter protection during the construction and fit out of the new warehouse facility. These are monitored via the ARC and we have the ability to audio challenge any unwanted visitors in real time via the tannoy on the towers.

These CCTV towers (pictured above) are extremely versatile and operate both stand alone or in conjunction with our security personnel teams. More to come on this topic in the next few months. Events We attended The Security Event at the NEC in April and met with several suppliers and reviewed all the latest technologies the industry has to offer.

This is an area of real growth currently due to the volume of construction site thefts across the UK (according to Building & Facilities Manage ment this costs over £800 million a year) •

Data Centres - Working closely with Peter McGowan and our ICTS Data Centre teams we have been able to secure two data centres with the rapid deployment of CCTV towers and are in the process of setting up systems on a third site.

We attended IFSEC at the London Excel in May 2023 and met with Geovision who are one of our trusted CCTV partners.

Meetings and Training Our Sales team has been busy meeting with suppliers and viewing their products and new technologies. One of the recent visits saw them meet Axis.

Monitoring A special thanks from myself to Cathie Flood and the entire ARC team for all the hard work implementing the new intruder, fire and CCTV monitoring services for Lancashire County Council. We have now transferred and commissioned over 350 units with approx. a further 300 to transfer over the rest of the year. This created a huge amount of additional work and a great deal of manual data inputting whilst still keeping everything operational. Lastly, huge congratulations to Lina Stanislovaityte who recently got engaged! - From all the ASM Team.

Engineer training took place at HIK Vision in Stockley Park. We have recently secured a new customer for multiple high-end office locations across London and we have utilised the HIK Vision temperature and facial recognition readers alongside their access control systems to meet the customers’ requirements. It was fantastic to be supported so closely by the HIK team.

Sean Harbridge—Business Development Manager (ASM) I joined ASM in April 2023 as a new Business Development Manager. I have worked in the Fire and Security industry since 2017 as an engineer, traveling all over the country servicing fire extinguishers, alarms and door access to name a few. I have just joined ICTS in April 2023 as a new Trainer in Aviation Security. I started my career in Aviation over 7 years ago as cabin crew and I was quickly promoted to Supervisor for an Airline. Although Aviation has always been my passion, I also love teaching, training, and helping others to reach their goals and to get the best of themselves. I became a certified Security Instructor by the IAA, and I started training pilots and cabin crew across Europe. After a few years without a permanent address, as I was always delivering trainings in other countries, I am now really excited to start this new journey with ICTS, based in Dublin. I love meeting new people, new cultures and sharing knowledge and experiences. I truly believe that we can always learn interesting things from the people around us, regardless of their background, job position or social status. I am a dedicated and enthusiastic team player who enjoys working closely with staff as I am always learning and improving myself. I can’t wait to meet each one of you across the huge ICTS network so you can also tell me your story!”

Tim Morgan— Junior Engineer (ASM) After teaching drums and working in music technology for over a decade, I felt I needed a new challenge. Coming to ASM has been a great new venture, with plenty of opportunities to develop my technical skills, and work on exciting projects around a team with a wealth of knowledge. It’s been a great start and I’m enjoying every step of the journey.

Ian Parris — Project Engineer (ASM) Hi all, my name is Ian Parris. I joined ICTS in April 2023 as a Security Technician/Engineer. I started my engineering role on the Gold Coast, Australia around 6 years ago. I have been involved in large scale security installation projects overseas and I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge on upcoming projects with ASM. I have really enjoyed the first few weeks - my colleagues have been great and I feel really supported in my role. I’m a very keen fisherman - any free time I have is usually spent down at local lakes trying to catch the biggen with friends!

Warren Humphreys— Cluster Account Manager (Data Centre—Ireland) I have worked in private security for nearly 21 years now—I am a strong team leader with a results-driven mentality, who is confident in interacting with all levels of management and the general public. I am proficient in task management and have a deadline-focused work ethic. I have an excellent ability to exercise sound judgement in resolving difficult and sensitive situations. I am an overall team player who looks to obtain the best from each team member. I started in 2002 as a Security Officer in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in Dublin. The IFSC is the equivalent of the City of London (square mile), but whilst the City of London has a Police force, the IFSC had private Security Officers. The IFSC is a 37.8-hectare (93-acre) site, with over 40 large buildings, most of which were multi-tenanted, employing over 35,000 people. This is where I learnt my trade! In 2003 I was promoted to Night Supervisor, direct report to 13 Officers and a Canine Security unit. In 2008 I was promoted to Senior Supervisor and then eventually to Site Manager, direct report to over 110 Officers and Supervisors. In 2018 I left the IFSC and went to work in a Data Centre for a large social media company. I spent 3 years there working as Security Specialist Supervisor, SOC/ RSOC Lead and Behavioural Detection Officer. In April 2021, I was somewhat ‘head hunted’ to come and run my current contract as Cluster Account Manager (CAM), overseeing Security Operations for 7 Data Centres and 2 other locations, direct report to 2 Managers and over 100 Security Officers. MANAGERIAL MOVES Warren Humphreys cont. In April 2023 we all TUPE’d over to ICTS Ireland. Out of 100 Officers I only lost two. This means a lot to me and proves that I am doing something right to keep our staff happy, who in turn keep the client happy. But I have to admit, I have a very strong Area Supervisor (Louise O’Connell) on the team, who I would be lost without. She is always there to keep me straight...and stop me from having an ego! I don’t have many (or any hobbies) at the moment, as I have a 2-year-old son, but prior to J being born, I loved nothing more than a lie in on a Sunday morning, getting up with a hangover and watching hours and hours of David Attenborough, until the Chinese opened and I could get my hangover cure. I have a holiday home in Wexford and I spend most weekends down there to destress and refocus for the mayhem that is Monday to Friday.

Manny Pombo (London Gatwick Airport) I joined ICTS 25 years ago. I had a career in the Portuguese army as an officer paratrooper and after getting married, decided to join my brothers in UK. I am not able to tell you all the places that I have been representing ICTS or starting stations on behalf of ICTS. From Portugal, South Africa to Albania and many other parts, I had the privilege of meeting many people, cultures, beliefs and traditions. I also cannot tell you all the different positions I have held working with ICTS...let’s say there have been a few. We were 3 brothers who joined ICTS at London Gatwick in the same year, 1998. Unfortunately, we lost our brother Joe, who is no longer in the world of the living but never forgotten. However, I still have my brother JG who is currently a Duty Manager at Gatwick. I am a fully qualified auto mechanic and like to work on my cars but also on my motorbikes. I dismantle them, fix them, and race them. I served as a Special Constable with Thames Valley Police from 2014 to 2023. I like my long walks and all the good that life has to offer. I believe ICTS can go much further and conquer other markets and one of my work dreams is to see ICTS LHR have an Academy where future Team Leaders, Supervisors and Managers can receive preparation and education, hands-on, at different levels .

It certainly doesn’t seem like 20 years and it has never been dull. As much as things have changed, they’ve also stayed the same. I’ve simply tried to play my small part in the IT Dept’s Sisyphean task ensuring the operations have the right IT solutions. Hopefully along the way assisting in its past and I’ve no doubt continued success doing so. Being part of the team meeting requirements, deadlines, and the introduction of new systems while helping it navigate the changing regulations applicable to data. My years with the Company would not have been possible without the support and patience of those I work with—my thanks to them all, most especially Chris Cox. He’s culpable for me still being here. I just hope he’s willing to put up with me for a good while yet.

Nadarajah Sivakumaran (London Heathrow Cargo) I am very happy to have achieved 15 years with ICTS. Throughout my time I have work with loads of different people from different backgrounds and I have learnt so much about RasCargo and Cargo. I greatly enjoy all aspects of the operation. Grahame Parkhouse (London Heathrow Airport) I started with ICTS at Heathrow in May 2008 as an Agent working in Terminal 3 with United Airlines and progressed via many different job roles with various airline contracts. I think now I've had the opportunity to try so many different roles in the company and have become a better person and employee for it. I have met and worked with many good people over the years and felt to be part of something bigger. I have watched ICTS evolve into an extraordinary company, building up its business relationships and ties with a very broad range of clients. I look forward to my next 15 years' service and what awaits me. Jane Reilly (Manchester Airport) Jane started on 12 May 2008 after having worked as a dinner lady in a local school. Living locally she has always wanted to work at the airport, and decided to make the change. Since starting, Jane has made many friends with the different companies at Manchester Airport, and is delighted to say how one of them was so nice, he ended up becoming her husband! The second one involved purchasing a very slow racehorse with a friend at a sale by accident. We retrained her into a show horse and she won the Horse of The Year Show the following year. That was some achievement against all the odds. If you weren’t a Standards and Compliance specialist, what type of career would you choose?

HILARY CURTIS When did you join ICTS? I started with ICTS at London Gatwick Airport in 1989 on the US Airways contract. What do you enjoy most of your job? I particularly enjoy working in a team environment - you learn a lot by collaborating with other members and no two days are the same. What key attributes make someone successful in your role? I think having a positive attitude and being approachable certainly helps, and having genuine concern for our people keeps me focused. What is your favourite pastime? I enjoy being outside and spending time with my rehabilitation horses which keeps me active as there is always something that needs doing when you have animals in your life. What has been your greatest achievement? I have two achievements, the first being setting up my Animal Magic Programme, training rescue ponies to interact with autistic young people for therapy. The children are encouraged to groom, handle and care for the ponies under supervision - which helps promote their self-confidence and fulfil personal achievements. It’s amazing how we can all communicate without the use of the spoken word, now that’s magic.

It would definably be animal-related. I am a qualified veterinary anaesthetist and theatre nurse in my previous career working in a small animal practice. So, if I hadn’t taken the phone call over 30 years ago to drop a friend off for an interview, I may never have known of ICTS. But I am very pleased with where that path has taken me, with all the fantastic people I have worked alongside over the years.

The Customer Service Star scheme runs alongside our Employee(s) of the Quarter/Year scheme. The scheme has been established to recognise those employees who deliver excellent customer service to such a level that a client or a member of the public takes the trouble to write/post a commendation about the service delivered. This scheme goes a small way to say thank you and recognises all those very important customer service interventions by many of our employees. THE EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER SCHEME

A reminder about the scheme: we will allow a maximum of 3 winners from our Aviation Division and 3 winners from the Corporate Division, with no minimum number of winners being required. Each winner will receive a sum of £/€500. Congratulations to our EoQ from Aviation: Lisa Cooper from Southampton Airport and Jemma Clark from Glasgow Airport. Lisa’s suggestion of changing the location of the xray machine and thus enabling a more efficient flow of staff / passengers through Southampton Airport was very much liked by our Client. Lisa’s simple yet highly effective idea will be implemented in the next phase of the airport’s development. Jemma has stepped up to cover the supervision of the (C3) X-Ray trial at Glasgow Airport. Since the beginning of the year she has shown diligence, even though she has only just gone on a Supervisor course.

All 2023 winner(s) of the Employee of the Quarter make up the shortlist for the Employee (s) of the Year 2023 award, who will receive £/€5,000 (gross) and a lapel pin. Lisa “I am extremely thankful to receive this Award and I would like to personally thank my Station Manager, Mandy for the nomination. I had no idea I had been nominated so it was a complete shock to learn that I had won! Hopefully, my suggestion for the new Gate 11 project will be effective and efficient and will ensure a smooth process for all.”

Jemma “Jemma has facilitated these trials as well as covering the operational running of this X-Ray machine which is due to be rolled out across the Airport by the end of June 2024. Although it can be very demanding at times, Jemma unwavering determination has made it a success” said Helen Blacklaw, Station Manager at Glasgow Airport.

“I feel very proud and honoured to have been nominated for Employee of the Quarter and to ultimately have been successful in achieving the award. I would however like to take this opportunity give a very special mention to all members of our C3 trial team, who have also been working tirelessly to ensure the successful running of the trial. To have delivered on the C3 trial and continue to do so for our client and to have also been nominated for what I feel is me just doing my job, means so much to me. Thank you.”

Congratulations to our EoQ from Corporate: Ngombo Tuynagalala who is a Security Officer at the United Colleges Group (UCG) in London. Ngombo has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to the safeguarding of students. In a recent incident Ngombo demonstrated exceptional courage and his swift actions prevented the situation from escalating and ensured the safety of the students. “Ngombo is a polite and professional individual who always carries out his duties with utmost diligence. He consistently provides well-written and detailed reports on any incidents that occur on campus, which have proven valuable in improving our security protocols. Moreover, Ngombo has also established excellent relationships with the police and local communities on behalf of the school, which has helped us to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students” said Abdouraman Mohamadou, Contract Manager, UCG.

ICTS MAKES A DONATION TO THE SIMBA CHARITY

Fifteen of our staff members from Glasgow Airport (both current and retired) took part in the Kilt Walk on 30 April 2023. They walked 14 miles in aid of SiMBA, a charity close to a colleague’s heart. SiMBA helped her and her family through one of their toughest times.

TREES PLANTED FOR EARTH DAY

ICTS has made a donation to the National Trust’s Plant a Tree fund which will see the planting of 23 trees to mark Earth Day (22 April).

SiMBA provides support to those affected by the loss of a baby. The charity helps families create precious memories with their baby and offers ways to honour and remember them, now and always. The total raised for the charity to date: £3,840.

EASTER WEEKEND AT BRISTOL AIRPORT

“On Friday 26 May the Data Centre North Cluster teams in Ireland held a friendly football match. Playing as Ireland against The Rest of the World, the scoreline was hotly contested and believed to finish at 6 goals to 4, victory for The Rest of the World team. Plans for a charity match schedule and further matches are in motion. Well done to all those involved!” said Vicky Smith, Head of Recruitment, Vetting and Admin Support—Corporate Security Services.
