† CLOVER Lyle Leroy Clover, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2021.
Lyle was born in Livingston Co, Illinois on December 29, 1933 to Donald and Gladys (Lower) Clover. Lyle married Betty (Lee) Clover on May 23, 1953. They celebrated 67 years of marriage on May 23, 2020. Lyle was a well know pork producer in Ionia, Michigan and resided many years on Stage Road at Clover’s Ham-let. Lyle was a recipient of many awards, was an Outstanding Young Farmer and a member of Kellogg Farmer’s Study Group at MSU. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Michigan Pork Producers and was recognized in many farm magazines for his ability to grow corn and soybeans and for pork production. Lyle was on the Ionia School Board for many years. Lyle was a private pilot, and loved flying most of all. He retired to LeHigh Acres, Florida, where he took up woodworking. He made his own casket using wood from the farm and many gifts for his children and grandchildren, the church and friends. He was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church where he was a Royal Rangers Leader and usher. Lyle is survived by his wife Betty, daughters Debra (Garett) Smith and Renee (Steve) Jachim of Lafayette, IN and sons Greg (Cathy) Clover, of Rockford, MI, JP (Lori) Clover, Ionia, MI and Brent (Deb) Clover of Naples, FL. Two brothers, James Clover of Ionia, MI and Duane Clover of Bronson MI and sister, Lorraine Sygnecki of Bronson, MI. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Michael Winger. A celebration of Lyle’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 11:00 AM at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth St, Orleans, MI with internment in Oakwood Cemetery in Muir, MI., with visitation preceding at 10:00. Any who would like to is invited to a luncheon after interment at Clover Family Farms, 2412 Stage Road, Ionia, MI. A Celebration of Life will also be held at New Life Assembly in FL on March 8, 2021, time to be determined. Since Lyle was an international traveler, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Assembly Church, 5146 Leonard Blvd S, Lehigh Acres, FL 33973 for bibles translated into other languages, called Fire Bibles. † MCPHERSON James “Jimmy Mac” Douglas McPherson age 79 of Saranac, MI passed away February 8, 2021. He was born on October 24, 1941 in Greenville, MI the son of Bruce and Roberta (Easlick) McPherson. He married Ora Friedli on August 26, 1960 in Saranac. Jim retired from the Navy and Army National Guard where he worked as a Machinist Mate. He was a member and past commander of Saranac American Legion. He enjoyed going fishing, hunting and to the casino. Jim loved spending time with his family. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Ora McPherson of Saranac; children, Tucker Alan McPherson and Mary Breckon of Saranac, Allison Leland of Saranac and Shannon Gleason of Saranac; grandchildren, Alana McPherson, John Leland, Jade Leland, Jim Leland, Erica (Tim) McKellips and Bruce Bell; great grandchildren, Jimmy Jr. and Logan McKellips; brothers, Terry (Judy) McPherson of Ionia, Roger (Linda) McPherson of Ionia and Brian (Carolyn) McPherson of Massachusetts; brother-in-law, Ben Rusnell of Pennsylvania and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Saranac American Legion. She was born January 19, 1942 in Portland, Michigan. She was the only child of Dale and Martha (Lockwood) Townsend. Joy graduated in 1960 from Lyons High School where she enjoyed playing in the marching band. In 1962 she would marry a young man that she had known since kindergarten, Glenn “Larry” Miller. As a young girl Joy lived on a farm where she helped out with everyday chores including driving a John Deere tractor, which she loved. Joy enjoyed life, always looking for the positives in every situation. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved singing and playing her tenor saxophone at her local church. She enjoyed camping trips, fishing, hunting and riding her motorcycle with her family. Joy also loved going for impromptu car rides on Sunday afternoons and loved to go see Southern Gospel Quartet concerts. Joy also worked for over 20 years at Meijer before retiring. Joy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Miller of Lyons; daughter, Autumn (Scott) Ferris of Lyons; son, Dale (Nancy) Miller of Ionia; grandchildren, Christopher Ferris, Jacob Ferris, Bethany (Dave) Cooper and FaithAnne Miller and great-grandchildren, Caden Ferris, Krisalynn Fedewa and Jaxon Fedewa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements cared for by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. He was born October 6, 1953 in Ionia to Ray and Nora (Tafel) Reed, (who preceded him in death). He was a lifelong resident of Ionia, and member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was a tool & die journeyman for 23 years at Gencorp in Ionia, and for 13 years at Citation Die Cast in Grand Rapids. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen (Gunter), his daughters Jennifer (Bryce) Simmet of Lowell, Melisa (Royce) McKendry of Byron Center, and Marjorie (Ben) Rowland of St. Johns, his son Timothy serving in the U.S. Air Force in Virginia, and his stepson Steven (Anissa) Griffin of Atlanta, Georgia. His brothers Phil (Mary-Beth) of Lowell, and Bill (Carol) of Stanton. 10 Nieces and Nephews, 20 Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Grandchildren. His brothers-in-law Kerry (Mary) Gunter of La Place, Louisiana, and Wayne Perry of Ionia. He had an unwavering love for his grandchildren, his pets, and was a lifelong Lions and Tigers fan. He enjoyed coin collecting, tinkering in his workshop, and spending time outdoors rabbit, turkey, and deer hunting. Per his wishes, he is to be cremated with his ashes distributed also according to his wishes. Visitation will be held at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Thursday, February 11th from 3 to 7 p.m. with the memorial service taking place at St. John Lutheran Church on Friday, February 12th at 11 a.m. Any memorial contributions should be made to St. John Lutheran Child Development Center of Ionia. She loved spending time with her grandkids and her friends.
