born September 23, 1930 in Ionia the daughter of Roy and Iva (Setchfield) Mosson. Helen graduated from Lake Odessa High School. She married Jerry Towersey February 4, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1995. Helen taught school in several country schools the last being Dildine. She later taught 5th grade at Saranac Community Schools until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Easton United Methodist Church. Helen met an old friend John VanDyke and they were married February 22, 1997. He preceded her in death in 2002. After living in Grand Rapids for 6 years she moved back to Ionia to be closer to friends and family. Surviving are her children; Jill (Larry) Hagen of Indiana, Kristie Rynd of Ionia and Michael (Karen) Towersey of Ionia. Grandchildren; Laurie (Heath) Gyger, Angie Ohlrich and Matt Brooks. Step-children; Sandy (Milt) Fenton and Randy (Joey) VanDyke. Step- daughter in law Clara VanDyke. Sister; Margaret “Peg” Cusack. Several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Sisters; Jeanne Metzig,and Lillian VanWymen and Brother, Robert Mosson.

Disasters can happen in a flash, and having a plan in place for common emergency situations can make it easier to handle adverse conditions, particularly when away from home. According to MFASCO Health and Safety, a supplier of first aid supplies and kits, 90 percent of people do not carry first aid supplies or other emergency gear in their vehicles. Among those who may carry supplies, 30 percent never check to determine if they're in good working order. The National Safety Council says that drivers should always keep emergency supply kits in the trunks or cargo areas of their vehicles. Kits should be inspected every six months, and worn out items should be replaced. Roadside emergency kits can make the difference between getting back on the road safely or being stranded for hours. Such kits also may help prevent or treat injuries, potentially saving lives. Weather should be considered when preparing vehicle emergency kits, which should include the following. · A properly inflated spare tire and tire-changing equipment · Jumper cables · A multipurpose utility tool and/ or tool kit · Flashlight and batteries · Flares or triangle reflectors · An extra quart of motor oil · A first-aid kit containing at the least, gauze, tape, bandages, antibiotic ointment, aspirin, nonlatex gloves, scissors, hydrocortisone, thermometer, tweezers, and instant cold compress · A blanket · A tire pressure gauge · A portable tire inflator · Paper towels · Nonperishable, high-energy foods · Drinking water · A reflective vest · Duct tape · A fire extinguisher · An ice scraper

New self-service stations offer customer transactions in English, Spanish or Arabic LANSING – The new, dependable and easy-to-use self-service stations being installed across the state to replace old, unreliable and frequently malfunctioning Secretary of State kiosks offer another technological advantage: the option for customers to complete their transactions in English, Spanish or Arabic. The new self-service stations, 60 of which have been installed since Oct. 27, were initially programmed for English and Spanish. They received a software update Dec. 13 that added the Arabic language option. To date, more than 75,000 registration renewal transactions have been completed in English, more than 450 in Spanish and more than 70 in Arabic. “We are committed to improving customer experience for everyone who interacts with our department,” said Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. “We’ve heard the call from communities for better language access, and plan to continue translating additional documents in the future.” Since Secretary Benson took office, the department has taken
steps to make more translations available. Documents now offered in Spanish and Arabic include: Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission application Driver’s license and ID card application Driver’s license and ID requirements checklist Foreign language-speaking community representatives with suggestions on additional documents that would be helpful to translate can contact the Office of Communications at 517-335-3264 or SOS-News@ Michigan.gov.
