(Coates) McCarn went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was born on July 26, 1926 to Elmer and Hazel (Beckhorn) Coates. Marie had four brothers and two sisters. She married Edward V McCarn on September 6, 1947 and together they raised four children. Marie, as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, enjoyed knitting, baking, sewing and camping trips with her family and numerous friends. She was a member of the First Christian Church for many years. She was known as mom to the many neighborhood children because of her loving and caring nature. Marie is survived by her children, Daryel (Theresa) McCarn and Diane Rogers both of Ionia; grandchildren, Tracie (Josh) McCarn-Dinehart, Robert (Samantha) McCarn, Heather (Michael) Konik, Stephanie (Kurt) Tubergen and Carl (Lindsey) Rogers; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Gordon (Barbara) Coates of Jenison, MI; sister-in-law, Grace Brauher; brother-in-law, Jerry Mason and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Edward; sons David H McCarn and Dean C McCarn; 3 brothers and two sisters. † MOCHMER Paul Mochmer, age 37 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 5, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Cole; and grandmother, Betty Miller. Paul is survived by his mother, Brenda Cole; brothers, Matthew and John; sisters, Angela, Andrea, Joanie; special cousins, Abbie and Katelyn; many more loving cousins; aunts, Linda (Michael) Willard, Glenna (Mark) Blanding, Joan (Charlie) Pfishner, Georgia Howe; friends, Chad, Wes, Hope; and fur babies, Rocky, and Bunny. He graduated from Lowell High School in 2003. Paul enjoyed listening to audio books, Anime, various online and tabletop games. cember 13, 2021. She was born on February 27, 1940 in Ionia, MI the daughter of Leo and Barbara (Baker) Costello. Carolin graduated from SS Peter and Paul Academy in Ionia. She married Jerry L Piercefield on August 1, 1964, he passed away July 4, 2019. Carolin owned and operated Carolin’s Beauty Shop in Lyons and Muir for 25 years. She loved to cook and was well known for her homemade sugar and chocolate chip cookies. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Surviving Carolin are her children, Tammy (Kevin) Heyboer of Lyons and Bob (Deb) Piercefield of Lyons; grandchildren, Jordan Piercefield, Jeffrey Piercefield, Jarrett Piercefield, Brian (Abby) Wiles and Grant Wiles; sister-in-law’s, Cleo Piercefield, Bonnie Kinsman, Janet King and Wilma Waters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Joellen Reeder and Patricia Ritter and several brother’s and sister’s-in-law. Funeral services will be held at Lyons-Muir Church on Saturday, December 18th 11:00 AM with Pastor Jonathan Bratt Carle officiating. Interment Balcom Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on Friday, December 17th from 4-7 PM and 1 hour prior to services at the church. † SOLOMONSON Saundra Kay Solomonson age 58 of Ionia, MI passed away December 12, 2021. She was born on September 16, 1963 in Winterhaven, Florida the daughter of Bill and Ruth (King) Johnston. Saundra was a graduate of Carson City High School, Class of 1981. She married James Solomonson on June 13, 1981 in Belding. She joined the United States Air Force serving from 1981-1985. She resided in Ionia County after the service. Saundra loved to read, holiday dinners and family reunions. She especially loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. Surviving Saundra is her loving husband of 40 years, James Solomonson of Ionia; daughters, Alisha (Andy) Galloway of Sunfield and Stephanie (Justin) Bovee of Potterville; step-son, Victor Ledesma of Ionia; mother, Ruth Johnston of Vickeryville; grandchildren, Jonah, Bella, Dalton, Perry, Wesley and Myla; brothers, Kevin (Venus) Johnston of Vickeryville and Keith (Melissa) Johnston of Matherton; brother and sister-in-laws, Larry Dickinson of Gilbralter, Dave and Cindy Solomonson of Riverdale, Steve Solomonson of Six Lakes, Dan and Bonnie Solomonson of Grand Rapids, Donna Solomonson of Mt. Pleasant and Linda and Roger St. Antoine of California. She was preceded in death by her father Bill, mother and father-in-law Clifford and Doris Solomonson; brother-in-law Thomas Solomonson and sister-in-law Marilyn Dickinson. American Red Cross Blood Drive The Saranac Community Church hosted our American Red Cross Blood Drive on November 26th, the day after Thanksgiving. We have SO much to be thankful for... we are blessed to live in this great US of A, where people are free to sign up and donate their life saving blood. We are thankful and proud of our donors (and those who tried to donate, but were unable to)! Ronald Foote and John William McCrackin were first time donors. Nancy Betz received her 1 gallon pin. Sharon Darby received her 3 gallon pin. Blaine Wittcopp received his 4 gallon pin. Jennifer Anderson, James Breimayer and Debra Tribbett received their 5 gallon pins. Double Red donors were Sharon Darby, Shawnee Scott and Bruce Chadwick. Ralph Westbrook has donated 100 pints of life saving blood at the American Red Cross blood

drives in Saranac. Ralph is pictured, holding his personal poster thanking him for all the lives he has saved over the years. We were blessed to collect 37 pints of life saving blood. Our donors replenished their energy with the delicious soups, sandwiches, cookies and beverages that were generously donated. Thanks to all our talented cooks! Our next blood drive will be January 24, 2022. We hope everyone has a blessed Christmas and a healthy year to come.
