Jeff had a love for the outdoors, he enjoyed riding quads, snow- Duane L. Post, age 78, of mobiles, camping, golfing and fishing. He went on to marry Margaret in 1983. He enjoyed going fishing and camping with friends and family. George is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Margaret Tyler of Saranac; daughter, Sharon (Bob) Courser of Florida, son-in-law, Dave Powers of Ionia; grandsons, Mike (Amber) Ohlrich of Hastings, Pat Courser of Florida and Paul Courser of Florida; sister, Rosalyn (Val) Bennett of Belding; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois, daughter, Cheryle Powers and grandson, Gary Ohlrich. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with Pastor John Bell officiating. † THELEN † DINEHART Joseph Alan Dinehart, aged 76 years, died November 18, 2021 in Lansing Lucille Thelen, age 64, of Ionia, Michigan. Joe was born to parents Clarence and Maxine (Smith) Dinehart on November 29, 1944 passed away Friday, November in Portland Michigan. The family moved to the family farm in Easton Township. Joe was a standout 19, 2021. high school athlete on the football field and baseball diamond and graduated from Ionia High School in 1963. After graduation, Joe went to work at the Ionia County Road Commission before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1964. Joe honorably served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1967 and completed a tour in the Vietnam War. Joe returned to Ionia after his service and resumed work at the Road Commission for 30 years retiring as road foreman. On June 15, 1968 he married the love of his life, Dianne L. Hawkins. Joe and Dianne enjoyed 53 years of marriage and together they raised three sons. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan and he put these passions to good use giving back to the youth of the Ionia community as a Hunter’s Safety instructor for many years and as a Youth League baseball coach. Joe was also a primitive firearm enthusiast and enjoyed participating in primitive weapons competitions. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maxine Dinehart, an infant brother Smith Dinehart, his father and mother in laws, Orville and Beatrice Hawkins and brother in laws Robert Hawkins and Dale Hawkins. Joe is loved and survived by his wife Dianne, sons Rob Dinehart, John (Jenny) Dinehart and Andy Dinehart, grandchildren Nick Have you had a positive experience (fiancée MacKenzie Porta), Ellie and Rylie Dinehart, sisters Sharon (Gary) Gonnella and Deanne with a local business or organization? Sparrow receives grant to address food insecurity among at-risk mothers LANSING, MI – Sparrow has launched a new initiative to reach out and help hungry families, especially pregnant women in need. The program, Feeding Your Growing Family – Addressing Food Insecurity among At-Risk Mothers, will aim at helping at-risk woman of child-bearing age who are either patients of Sparrow’s High-Risk Ob/Gyn clinic or delivering children at Sparrow Hospital. “The lack of steady access to food has been directly linked to a poor pregnancy and tougher deliveries, including low birth weight and diabetes during pregnancy,” said Tonyie Andrews-Johnson, Director, Sparrow Hospital Women’s Services. “This pilot project will find and assist food insecure mothers and families in an attempt to reduce their stress and anxiety while also getting newborns started on a healthy path.” The primary goal of the program is to decrease food insecurity and increase nutrition, health and wellness among atrisk mothers and their children by providing greater access to healthy foods, wrap around
resources, nutrition education, meal preparation supplies, and social support resources. Through partnerships with the Delta Dental Foundation, Capital Area United Way, Greater Lansing Food Bank, and Ingham County Health Department, the program is aimed at decreasing food insecurity and increasing nutrition for at-risk mothers in Mid-Michigan. By providing free access to resources, healthy food, and nutrition education, this program addresses at least four common barriers to health – transportation, financial stability, education, and access to resources. Funding was made possible thanks to the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, which has awarded a $231,206 grant to the Sparrow Foundation.
