The Ionia County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing to consider a grant application to The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), Public Law 116-136, makes available supplemental Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant ESG-CV funding for grants to prevent, prepare for, and respond to Coronavirus (COVID-19). The CDBG grant will provide flexibilities for grantees to expedite the use of grant funds to help address the challenges facing our nation during this historic public health crisis. Ionia County will seek to receive up to $351,107.00 in CDBG funds to reimburse for unexpected costs associated with COVID-19 and to provide at least 51% of the beneficiaries of the proposed project to low and moderate income persons or urgent need. The public is welcome to attend this meeting. † BROWN Anita L. (DeWitt) Brown, age 53 of Ionia, MI passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing. Anita was born June 26, 1967 in Lansing, MI. Private family service will be held at a later date. Anita had a passion for crafting and visiting lighthouses. She took many family trips to visit lighthouses. She will be remembered for her caring, loving and feisty heart. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Brown, Jr.; 2 daughters, Jillisa and Kristina; step-children, Tara, Dennis III, Raymond and Keesha; her granddaughter, Iris and 22 step-grandchildren; mother, Kathleen; brother, Jerry; half-brother, Robert; half-sister, Jamie. Anita was preceded in death by her father, Gerald. Memorial Contributions in Anita’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the Greater Lansing Food Bank. passed away November 3, 2020 in Ionia. He was born June 30, 1936 in Ionia, the son of George and Margaret (Mitchell) Seidelman. David married Janet Waters June 15, 1956. She preceded him in death in 2018. David was a life time member of the NRA and a member of North LeValley school board. He taught Junior Rifle and Hunters Safety. He loved hunting and fishing, trips to Colorado, Alaska and winter trips to Arizona. He enjoyed pistol shooting and Busy Bee Wood Working. David established the Ionia County Animal Shelter ran Seideman Apiaries family business. He served his country in the United States Army. We would like to thank all the people who surrounded us with love, prayed with us, offered words of encouragement, provided delicious meals and goodies, and sent cards at the passing of Roger and Doris Cochrun. Mom spent the last two years at SKLD nursing facility in Ionia where the staff was very loving and took great care of her. Prior to COVID restrictions, she enjoyed numerous visits from extended family, friends, and fellow members of Saranac Community Church. Dad, too, was blessed with a core group of people who made sure he always had the socialization so important to him. Whether it was the American Legion breakfast group, somebody taking him to church, enjoying a meal with friends, or just a visit at his apartment, you were a blessing to him. The joint memorial service in October was not only a beautiful tribute to our parents but a great mix of laughter and reflection. Thank you to SCC Pastor Becky Poor for her wonderful message, to Al MacDonald for his readings and remembrances, and to Audrey and Jessica Mason for their beautiful songs. Thanks as well to Duane Walter who led the interment service and members of the local VFW for their military salute. To Lake Funeral Homes we extend our appreciation for their care and help in making a difficult time easier. They were married for 72 years and separated for only five weeks, we rejoice they are together again in heaven. God is good!
