– OBITUARIES & AREA DEATHS – † LEONARD Mary Jean Leonard, of Portland, passed away on October 5, 2021 on her 77th birthday. She was born on October 5, 1944 to Donald and Kathleen (Sandborn) Rogers. Mary was a hairdresser in Portland for over 50 years, making many cherished friendships along the way! She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Kate Rogers and her in-laws, Lloyd and Marion Leonard. Mary is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Bill Leonard; children, Scott (Deb) Leonard and Bill (Tracy) Leonard II, both of Portland; grandchildren, Brad (Kellie) Leonard, Clayton Leonard, Mallory (Paul) Leonard, Riley Leonard, and Carlee Leonard; great-grandchildren, Brady, Macie, Payton, Tanner, and Emma; siblings: Larry (Cheryl) Rogers, Joan Trumble, and Doug (Judy) Rogers; and many nieces and nephews. Regular Board Meeting September 14, 2021 Meeting called to order by Supervisor, Kurt Scheurer. Member present: Scheurer, Higbee, Harp, McCoy, and Pitchford. Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes approved as read. Treasurer’s report approved as read. Motion by Harp and supported by Higbee to pay this month’s bills on hand. Motion passed. No Public Safety report this month Lori Kirkoff and Kyle Butler of IM Kids presented the board with information about IM Kids. Explaining who they are and how they help kids in the Ionia and Montcalm area. Motion by Pitchford and supported by Harp to accept the Ionia Township Guidelines Asset level for poverty Exemption, amended resolution 2021-2 with $7,000 per claimant and $10,000 per household. Motion passed. Scheurer and Pitchford will check into replacing batteries or new emergency exit lights and new fire extinguishers. Public Accuracy test for the November 2nd election will be held October 12th 6pm at the township hall. Motion by Harp and supported by Higbee to adjourn meeting. Motion passed.
